The re-release arrives on November 3^rd, having been originally released in 1998. The collection will be made available on a multitude of formats, including CD, limited edition cream cassette and vinyl. The collection will also be made available across the main music streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.  The vinyl edition comes in green/black marble or regular black alongside a selection of bundles that includes t-shirts. The Masterplan complies all of the band’s B-sides featured on singles from the albums: Definitely Maybe (1994), (What’s The Story) Morning Glory (1995) and Be Here Now (1997).

When The Masterplan originally released in 1998 it shot up the charts, charting at number 2 in the UK Official Album Chart, selling 122,000 copies upon the first week of release; testifying to the extreme popularity of the band during the mid to late 90’s. The collection has since sold three million copies worldwide, becoming a triple-platinum record.

This anniversary remaster follows the remasters previously done before with full length albums Definitely Maybe, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory and Be Here Now, so Oasis fans will be happy to have a fully complete remastered collection of that era now that the B-sides are being released.

In this era, Oasis’ B-sides were famously very highly thought of, with some fans claiming that the B-side tracks were better than some of the singles from which they came from.

Noel Gallagher has previously mentioned this before, saying in 2016: “It goes back to … giving all those great songs away as B-sides,” that is the germ of the problem. You know, to write ‘The Masterplan,’ and ‘Half The World Away,’ ‘Acquiesce,’ ‘(It’s Good) To Be Free’ … everybody in the f*****g world said to me about ‘The Masterplan,’ ‘Why are you putting that as a B-side?‘ And I was like, ‘Because they asked me to write a B-side, and that’s what I’ve wrote.‘”

The re-issue will be released on August 19th as a silver-coloured double LP. The album will also be available on picture disc and cassette and will feature completely remastered audio. Oasis’ third record was originally released in August of 1997, three years on from their debut Definitely Maybe, and two years following their sophomore effort (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? On first release, the record received somewhat mixed reviews, with some critics offering up negative reception in regard to the length of certain songs, lyrics and the production. Naturally however, the album also received a great deal of love and praise, with Dele Fadele of Vox having referred to the album as: “a veritable rock’n’roll monsoon of an album; a giant jigsaw puzzle, an elemental force, a monster that cannot and will not be contained.”

In a 2020 documentary, Noel Gallagher reflected on the critical reception to the record, highlighting in particular the more negative reviews, saying: “I mean it goes to prove that really, journalists, they know fuck all. They had to second guess everything after ‘Morning Glory’, cos they’d got it so wrong…That’s why when ‘Be Here Now came’ out, which isn’t a great album, it got 10/10 everywhere, it didn’t get one bad review, because they didn’t want to be made to look like dicks again, and they were, because it’s not half the record ‘Morning Glory’ is… After that, they properly hated us after that, cos they didn’t understand us.”

Big Brother Recordings previously re-released Be Here Now in 2016, following the re-release of Oasis’ first two records. The re-release featured B-sides and unheard tracks alongside the original tunes from the record.
