Each artist will donate a track to the project which will pressed just 100 times each, creating 700 unique 7” records. Additionally, artists, designers and illustrators from around the globe will be called to design special sleeves for each track, making every record and one-of-a-kind collectible. The 700 unique sleeve designs will be on display at London’s 180 Studios from August 18-30, 2026 and available to purchase via online auction running until September 2, 2026.

Buyers may make guesses based on the sleeve artwork as to which vinyl they will receive, but the track remains a mystery until it is purchased.

All of the proceeds from the auction will go towards War Child’s work delivering mental health support, emergency aid and protection to children and families in areas of conflict across 13 countries. Previously, the Secret 7” Auction has raised more than £900,000 for War Child’s efforts.

John Lennon will be donating his track ‘Out of the Blue’ from the 1973 ‘Mind Games’ album. While The Last Dinner Party will contribute their single, ‘Let’s Do It Again!’ which was featured on the recently released ‘Help (2)’ compilation album from War Child. Gabrielle has given her 2001 hit, ‘Out of Reach.’ And fans of The Maccabees will be excited to hear their 2009 track, ‘No Kind Words’ will be apart of the auction. It will be the song’s first standalone physical release. In a post announcing their contribution, the band encouraged fans to submit artwork for the auction saying their “work will be a missing part of [their] catalogue.”

The new project is led by Bastille frontman, Dan Smith, and is described as a collection of songs that tell a story and intertwine the lives and wide worlds of startling women and men. It tells the story of various characters including poets, artists, scientists and characters from religion. The album is said to be fed by new collaborations, dazzling arrangements and a spirit of musical spirit that is hoping to open minds. Listen to Smith talking about the album below.

The album will be released in four parts leading up to the full release of ‘&’ in October. The first part of the project is out now and includes four tracks that introduce the record. The first track is ‘Intros and Narrators’ which sees Smith play fingerpicked guitar and “sets out the mission and tone” for the album. The next track, ‘Eve and Paradise Lost’, explores themes of blame and shame that women are made to feel “from the dawn of time.” ‘Seasons & Narcissus is described as “a curious, twisted love song between someone and their own reflection.” And the last track of part one, ‘Emily & Her Penthouse In The Sky’, is about the life of 19th-century poet Emily Dickinson and how her life has been framed.

The album is supposed to uncover the stories of people who have been misunderstood in myth, culture, and society, telling the stories of individuals who have been neglected by mainstream society. There is also a song that is inspired by Smith’s family, exploring the idea of how music is passed on through generations by showing how Smith is connected to his father’s poetry and his mother’s singing.

‘&’ (Ampersand) is described as “a collection of songs about looking out at the world, disappearing into other lives rather than into ourselves, and about the humanity that can crackle and shimmer as a consequence.”#

Fans can pre-order the group’s upcoming project from their official store.

Bastille have released a new orchestral version of their hit track “Pompeii,” in collaboration with Hans Zimmer.

The new version was released to mark the 10 year anniversary of their single “Pompeii,” taken from their debut album, Bad Blood. The track reached Number 2 in the UK Charts back in 2013 and is currently included in the Top 50 most streamed songs of all time in the UK.

The orchestral rendition of the track is titled “Pompeii MMXXIII.” Listen below.

Speaking on the collaboration with Hans Zimmer, Bastille frontman Dan Smith said, “Having the opportunity to work with the living legend that is Hans Zimmer, and his brilliant team, has been an absolute dream. Working with them on this new version of ‘Pompeii’ has been incredible and has put the biggest smiles on our faces throughout the whole wonderfully surreal experience.”

Smith had already been working with Hans Zimmer on other projects, with this being how this alternative version of “Pompeii” came to be created.

Hans Zimmer shared his thoughts on the track, saying, “It’s been proven time and time again that a beautiful, crafted song by a great band can have many lives and ‘Pompeii’ is a shining example of this.”

Zimmer continued, “Working hand in hand with Bastille and my team at Bleeding Fingers has been an exhilarating experience and an honour to be part of this remarkable journey. I’m so excited to share this rendition with you all!”

Bastille are currently touring the US to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Bad Blood. Their UK tour dates ended in July, with a commemorative double album version of Bad Blood also being released in July too.

The special edition reissue includes previously unheard demos, covers and live performances. The reissue is titled Bad Blood X (10th Anniversary Edition) and is available for purchase here.

In a press statement, frontman Dan Smith said, “When I started working on the songs that became ‘Bad Blood’ 10 years ago at a laptop in my bedroom, I never imagined that they’d be heard by so many people and then take us all over the world – it’s really mad to think about.”

He continued, “Ten years on, we wanted to put something special together to celebrate the album, whilst not messing with it too much. We had so much fun digging back through old artwork, photos and videos from that time to make a totally new package of artworks. My Dad even found an old CD-R of some of demos in the attic (that somehow people managed to pry out of my hands for a new 7” vinyl as part of this release – trust me… I didn’t think those versions would ever get heard).”

Speaking on the reissue, Smith concluded, “Putting all this together was such a nice way to step back into that world for a moment, and we really hope our fans feel the same way.”

Bastille have announced the details for an expanded edition of their latest album Give Me The Future, which will include new songs, covers and concepts. Titled Give Me The Future + Dreams Of The Past, the new version includes the original 13-track album (as Part One) plus “Dreams Of The Past (Part Two)” and “Other People’s Heartache’ (Part Three)”. The expanded edition is set for release on August 26 and is available for pre-order here and its lead single, “Revolution”, is out now.

Earlier in the year, Bastille shared their futuristic album, Give Me The Future. The band have also shared a video for the aforementioned lead single “Revolution.” It’s an electronic club anthem, which really channels the futuristic sounds of the album. Ultimately, it’s inspired by Quincy Jones’ production and The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”

Part two of the album will continue on themes from the original record, such as technological dependence and human connection. Part three, on the other hand, is a mini return to Bastille’s Other People’s Heartache Mixtape series. It sees them collaborating with artists and covering other acts. As frontman Dan Smith stated:

“Some of the themes and narrative from the original record, delving into songs that are shot through with notions of technological dependence, human connection and the limitless possibilities of life online”. Part three, meanwhile, nods to the band’s four ‘Other People’s Heartache’ mixtapes (2012-2018) with collaborations, covers and “concept-free creativity”.

He then continues “In releasing this version of the record, we wanted to give the complete picture of what we intended with this album and also explore the idea that you can choose your own adventure, You can dive into the ideas of the future and an electronic world, or you can fall back into the past – away from technology and into ideas of memory and nostalgia – both thematically and musically. Or you can choose full-on dancefloor heartbreak escape.

Whilst accepting their award, the group gave OfficialCharts.com the following statement, “We’re so happy and excited! Ridiculously grateful to everyone who’s bought the album and listened to it, and to everyone who worked so hard to make this record with us. We’re mega proud of Give Me The Future and beyond overjoyed that it’s had such an amazing response so far. Can’t wait to head out on tour soon and play these songs in real life for everyone.”

The band’s chart-topping album won the race with an impressive 85% physical sales, subsequently, the release also topped this week’s Official Record Store Chart. Give Me The Future also sired the largest chart sales within the digital market and beat out two of last year’s biggest contenders, Ed Sheeran’s Equals and Adele’s 30. This is the quartet’s third time at the top, their first number one album Bad Blood was released in 2013 and was the group’s debut studio album. The group’s next album entitled Wild World also charted at number one, released in 2016 the album also garnered great critical acclaim.

Give Me The Future was released on 4th February 2022 via EMI Records and is the group’s fourth studio album. The album’s release was proceeded by five singles, the first single, “Distorted Light Beam” was released on 23rd June 2021 followed by the title track “Give Me The Future” released on 15th July 2021. Two further singles, “Thelma + Louise” and “No Bad Days” were then released over the summer and autumn with the last single “Shut Off the Lights” released on 14th January 2022. Listed as the album’s executive producer is Ryan Tedder, the lead vocalist of pop group One Republic is also cited as a co-writer within the tracklist.

Elsewhere within the charts, the buzz surrounding the recent Brits awards are apparent within this week’s top 40. Following Sheeran’s two performances at Tuesday’s event, his album Equals jumps two places to chart at number two. Adele’s big win of Album of the Year has also boosted the album’s sales, 30 sees a 16% rise in sales and jumps one place to reach number four.

Last week’s ceremony has also amplified the sales for British rapper Dave, following his win for Best Hip hop/Grime/Rap act and help from a vinyl re-issue Psychodrama’s sales improve by 226%. The 23-year-old artist’s debut album has leapt an impressive sixty places to chart at number seven. Sam Fender, the winner for Best Alternative/Rock Act, also reaped chart success due to his Brit award. The English singer-songwriter saw an increase in sales within both of his albums, Seventeen Going Under jumped twelve places to number twenty and Hypersonic Missiles also leapt twenty-three spaces to reach number sixty.

The frontman of Bastille, Dan Smith, has revealed that he is working on new projects in the “film and TV world”. Smith recently took his first step into the world of filmmaking and directing with the sci-fi movie-inspired music video for “No Bad Days” from the upcoming fourth Bastille album, entitled Give Me The Future.

The music video for “No Bad Days”, which was co-directed with Trash Factory, includes references to sci-fi films such as Metropolis, Ex Machina and The Matrix. The clip is set in a laboratory, and portrays Smith himself playing a character who uses technology to try and bring a loved one back from the dead.

In an interview in the Bizzare column of The Sun Smith said of the music video “It’s really satisfying to have finally directed, and I’m really proud of the little film we made, I learned a shitload and it was good to be challenged in a new way.” You can view the video below.

In the same interview with The Sun, Smith said: “There’s a bunch of stuff I’m working on at the moment which uses music but very much step into the film and TV world. It’s what I grew up obsessed with. I was such a little film geek growing up and it’s a medium I love, so getting to direct [the ‘No Bad Days’] video was really amazing. I always wanted to do it but we’ve always been trying to juggle everything.”

Smith described his new artistic endeavour as “really eye-opening It took me having a little more time and space because of there being no touring, for me to be like, ‘I’ve got to do this now. I want to do it now’.”

The singer then went on to state that he hopes to continue his ventures in film and televsion, explaining: “I would love to work more in that world and I think we live in a time when people are less boxed in.”

The single for which Smith created the music video will also feature on the band’s forthcoming album Give Me The Future. The album follows on from 2019’s Doom Days and has been described as “a tribute to humanity in a tech age and reflects on the strangeness of living through times that can feel like science fiction”.

Bastille are also set to showcase their latest material during an intimate show at London’s Earth Theatre on February 2nd. The special performance is being held as part of the BRITs Week 2022 gig series in aid of theWar Child charity.
