The label, launched in 2005 by half-brothers Nathan Barley Philips and Jake Smith, specialises in progressive metal, technical metal and metalcore. Among their artists are 7 Horns 7 Eyes, Chimp Spanner, and Blotted Science. Notable bands previously signed to the label include Hertfordshire post-hardcore stalwarts Enter Shikari, and Southampton’s excellent melodic-metalcore act Bury Tomorrow.

Barley-Philips was intrigued by BEAR after watching an explosive set from them at Euroblast Festival last year.
