Rising indie group, Bad Sounds, have had to postpone their summer 2021 tour due to the ever long pandemic. The tour would have seen the band perform during early June (pre 21st June – the date that lockdown restrictions will be lifted) hitting up places such as Brudenell Social Club in Leeds and Jimmy’s in Liverpool. Yet, due to uncertainties surrounding the live music industry, the band have had to cancel their entire tour.

Bad Sound issued a statement to instagram to unveil the sad news, stating, “With a heavy heart, we have to announce that due to the ongoing uncertainties surrounding live music, our upcoming tour has been cancelled. Anyone who has been to one of our shows before will know how much we love playing live, and how much it means to us when we see you beautiful faces, batting balloons away and sining with us through a thick fog of confetti. We’re going to take some time to regroup and figure out when and how we can do this to make it something special and we will be back as soon as we can!”

However, not all is lost. Bad Sounds added that big news will be coming on all socials. Fans will have to wait and see for the new dates and what news this could bring, but their could be more collaborations on singles. They stated, “In the meantime, keep an eye out on our socials for bigs new and new dates. Refunds will of course be issued from point of purchase.”

The indie five-piece had recently released ‘Move In To Me’, a slow and emotional track that collaborates with the New Zealand duo, Broods. The smooth track combines the two bands sound perfectly, creating a simmering groove track.

Front men of the band, brothers Callum and Ewan Merrett, said they always envisioned Bad Sounds as a ‘collaborative project’, to meet a “bunch of like-minded musicians and write songs together and our friends would feature.”

This is evident with their recent work with Arlo Parks. Working behind the scenes on ‘Bluish’, Bad Sounds stated to their socials, ‘It’s a huge privilege for us to be a part of such an important artist’s debut album and we’re extremely grateful to Arlo for getting us involved I hope we did you proud’. The track has gained over 800,000 streams on Spotify alone, showing that the future of Bad Sounds is bright!

The new track ‘Move In To Me’ by the indie five-piece band, Bad Sounds, is out now featuring a collaboration with New Zealand sibling duo, Broods. The blissful single is the first release of 2021 for Bad Sounds, fronted by brothers Callum and Ewan Merrett. This is the two bands first collaboration, despite touring the US together in 2019 and remixing each others tracks multiple times.

‘Move In To Me’ was written shortly before the pandemic struck, with Broods travelling from LA to the UK to create the chill single. In their latest instagram post, Bad Sounds stated, ‘We knew the guys pretty well already having previously toured America together in 2019. We must have started at least 20 songs in that week but ‘Move Into Me’ had something really special about it from the start. It had been a looking day of dead-end ideas, and then just before we were about to give up and go home we had one last attempt at a groove and that became the seed of the song ‘Move Into Me’. The intro loop is taken from the voice memo Ewan recorded on his phone while we were trying to come up with something fresh, we were all playing together live in the studio. I think our dad would called it “jamming”.’

The track itself is about ‘growing closer with someone you love’, which the Broods’ singer Georgia encapsulates. Lyrics such as ‘So I’m gonna say something / I’ve never said before / Why don’t you move in to me / I wanna move into you’ describes a feeling that many could relate and nod along too, creating a track that is not only soothing but fitting to many peoples experiences with relationships. The smooth track combines the two bands sound perfectly, creating a simmering groove track.

Broods are not going to be the only band that Bad Sounds collab with. From the get go, the indie band stated they ‘always dreamed that it [Bad Sounds] would be a collaborative project, where we’d meet a bunch of like-minded musicians and writer songs together and our friends would feature.’ ‘Move In To Me’ is just one of the many tracks that Bad Sounds have teamed up with others, in time for their new EP which will be released in spring 2021. The band continued, “It really feels like the next phase of Bad Sounds, it feels like it’s growing into something that’s much more than we could achieve on our own, and I think that’s something we really value. Especially after spending so much time away from our friends and loved ones due to the pandemic.”
