The original announcement in September promised a string of shows in major cities including London, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham, and Liverpool. Tickets sold quickly, with many venues reaching capacity almost as soon as they went on sale. Promoters and the band alike were quick to notice the strength of the response, and before long, extra nights were being announced in some of the biggest markets. 

The band revealed today that they will now perform at Coventry’s HMV Empire on November 13, Oxford’s O2 Academy on November 24, Keele University in Stoke on November 25, Cardiff’s Tramshed on November 27, and Middlesbrough’s Empire on December 1.

With these additions, Babyshambles are not only reinforcing the idea that this is more than a nostalgic reunion – they’re turning it into a full scale celebration of their legacy and connection with fans across the UK.

Whilst the tour is a celebration of the band’s debut album, there’s emotional weight behind this expansion as well, as the recent passing of original guitarist Patrick Walden has provided a sense of urgency to bring the music back to stages while they still can.

For fans who may have missed out on earlier shows, the new stops in Coventry, Oxford, Stoke, Cardiff, and Middlesbrough offer fresh opportunities to attend. Tickets for the newly added dates are slated to go on general sale at 10am on Friday, October 3, with a fan pre-sale available at 10am on Wednesday October 1.

Whether all these shows will end up sold out too remains to be seen, but as the calendar fills out, it’s clear that Babyshambles’ comeback is being received as something more than a revival.

When ‘Down in Albion’ was released in 2005, it showed a raw, chaotic energy that made Babyshambles stand out from other indie bands of the time. Songs like ‘Killamangiro’ and ‘Albion’ became cult anthems. Two more albums followed: ‘Shotter’s Nation’ in 2007 and ‘Sequel to the Prequel’ in 2013, but the group eventually drifted apart.

The band will hit the road in November and December 2025 for 10 shows across the UK. Members Peter Doherty (vocals, guitar), Mick Whitnall (guitar), Drew McConnell (bass), and Adam Ficek (drums) will all return. 

The reunion tour starts in Norwich on November 14 and ends in Plymouth on December 10. In between, Babyshambles will play in big cities such as Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham, Glasgow, and London, where they will take over the O2 Academy Brixton.

However, the announcement carries a bittersweet undertone, as just two months ago the news broke that former guitarist in the band, Patrick Walden, had passed away. 

Patrick Walden was more than just a guitarist, he was central to Babyshambles’ earliest identity. Joining the band in its formative years, he co-wrote songs with Peter Doherty and helped shape the raw, restless energy of ‘Down in Albion’. Tracks like ‘Albion’ and ‘Fuck Forever’ carried his fingerprints, with his distinctive, jagged guitar style cutting through the chaos.

Though his time in the band was sometimes turbulent, Walden’s creativity left a lasting mark. Fans and fellow musicians alike have paid tribute to him since his passing, remembering not only his talent but also his role in creating some of Babyshambles’ most iconic moments. For many, this reunion tour feels like a tribute to him as much as a celebration of the band’s 20th anniversary.

20 years later, Babyshambles are ready to return to the stage. For many fans, this tour will be a chance to relive the excitement of the mid-2000s indie scene. For the band, it’s about unfinished business, honoring Patrick Walden, and proving that their music still matters.

Stranger In My Own Skin will be presented by Doherty and feature a live performance during the Zurich Film Festival which runs from the 28th of September through to the 8th of October. The film will document the singer’s rise to fame with the band The Libertines but also feature the drug addictions that plagued Doherty’s career, causing lengthy absences away from the band and legal troubles.

The film will debut at the festival as part of the Sounds section, launching last year, and examines subject matter with a musical theme or soundtrack. Stranger In My Own Skin will premier alongside various other films centred around music, including a biopic on Anita Pallenberg, Catching Fire-The Story Of Anita Pallenberg.

Speaking about the premier of the documentary, Zurich Film Festival artistic director Christian Jungen said, “the biopic chronicles the British rock star who, after reaching the pinnacle of his career, sinks into the depths of a serious drug addiction. His wife, director and musician Katia deVidas, followed the wild life of The Libertines frontman at close quarters for over 10 years. We’re looking forward to welcoming them both to Zurich.”

The documentary follows the 2022 release of Doherty’s memoir A Likely Lad, chronicling the musician’s frank and honest experiences with the turbulent aspects of his career. The memoir offers an intimate look at Doherty’s self-destructive behaviours, addictions and stint in prison due to the burglary of fellow Libertines musician Carl Barat’s house.

Doherty formed The Libertines with Barat in the late 1990s in London and gained world-wide success in 2002 with the release of their debut album, Up The Bracket. Doherty himself quickly rose to prominence within the band, with scores of critics praising the frontman for his song-writing abilities. Continuing addiction to drugs caused much friction within the band and led the other members to remove Doherty on more than one occasion.

Although the band officially went on hiatus in 2004, while Doherty sought treatment for his addiction, The Libertines reformed at various times throughout the years, remaining active and releasing an album (their last to date), Anthems For Doomed Youth in 2015.

In between his time with The Libertines, Doherty also formed the band Babyshambles, releasing three studio records and Pete Doherty And The Puta Madres-formed by Doherty and members of his touring band. The band has released a single eponymous studio album in April of 2019.

Pete Doherty and the Babyshamble boys have returned to our ears after an absence of six years.  New album Sequel To The Prequel was released yesterday and features a host of top notch songs showing off Pete’s undeniable talent for song writing and unlike albums of the past delivers songs packed full of optimism, with one running theme across the album being Pete’s desire to hold his head high.

The video blends live footage from the bands July concert at Paris’s Place de la Republique with documentary-style clips of their tour exploits.

Originally formed by famed vocalist and songwriter Pete Doherty during an enforced break from his original band, The Libertines, Babyshambles released their first album, ‘Down in Albion’ in 2005, and have performed intermittently ever since, though have occasionally struggled due to Doherty’s well-publicised issues with substance abuse, and subsequent time spent in rehab or prison. They released their sophomore album, ‘Shotters Nation’ in late 2007, and after a brief period of touring, went on hiatus in 2008, with Doherty pursuing a solo career.

‘Sequel to the Prequel’ will be the bands first release in six years, as well as their first with drummer Jamie Morrison, who has previously played with Stereophonics, after original drummer Adam Ficek quit in 2010 to focus on his side-project Roses King Castles.

‘Sequel to the Prequel‘ is due for release on the 2nd September.
