Calvin Harris And Vick Hope Welcome First Baby

Scottish DJ Calvin Harris and radio presenter wife Vick Hope have welcomed their first baby together on July 20. Harris took to Instagram to share the news with his fans.

In an Instagram post, the DJ shared a carousel of photos from the birth of his son, named Micah captioned: “20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here!” the 41-year-old wrote in the caption. “My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.”

Harris also shared different photos going from him and his wife holding the new-born in a birthing pool to what appeared to be his wife’s placenta which are then showed in a food dehydrator. The carousel ends on what seems like a jar of the placenta remains.

Many people and fans commented to congratulate the newly made parents, including fellow DJ and fiend of Harris, DJ Kygo, who wrote “Congrats!!”

More famous names congratulated the couple, such as Craig David who wrote: “Congratulations to you both. Amazing,” and former Love Island UK host Laura Whitmore writing “Congrats to you both! Enjoy the magic x.”

Some other comments expressed more surprise and concerns at the choice of pictures posted online by the artist, especially the placenta one, the organ which forms in the womb during pregnancy. The tradition of consuming it after giving birth, known as placentophagia, remains a debated practice with some claiming it offers health benefits.

Calvin Harris and Vick Hope’s love story can be traced all the way back to 2007, when the radio presenter turned Harris down after he asked her on a date. After 15 years of knowing one another, the pair’s friendship turned into more, with The Sun revealing they had been dating “for months” in January 2022. The couple tied the knot in September 2023.

Madison Beer Teases London Concert Ahead Of Up-Coming Tour

Music sensation Madison Beer, who burst onto the scene five years ago with her debut EP As She Pleases, shared an exciting announcement on BBC’s The One Show.

The talented 24-year-old confirmed that she will be performing in London next year. She said: “I will be back in the UK. I was told not to get in specifics, but March 25 is my London show. I will be back then! Don’t get specific, here’s specific for you.”

Beer last performed in London back in 2022 as part of her Life Support tour, in support of her debut album. Life Support, released in 2021, was a breakthrough for the singer. The album, co-written and co-produced by Beer, features themes of mental health and heartbreak. The record spawned the hit singles “Selfish” and “Baby” and has become a staple in her discography.

The star’s latest project, titled Silence Between Songs, is Beer’s second album and was released last month. The album, which incorporates genres such as pop and psychedelic rock, charted in various countries. The record peaked at number 28 on the UK Albums Chart and at number 86 on the US Billboard 200.

Beer, who co-wrote the entirety of the album tracks, spoke on The One Show about the track “Ryder” – a song Beer describes as an apology to her younger brother called Ryder. She said: “It was lovely. We sat in the car, and I played it for him, and he was not expecting it at all”. She continued: “If you haven’t heard the song, it’s kind of my way of acknowledging some of the things he’s also been through. I was afraid it would be awkward, but he was appreciative.”

The “Reckless” singer also explained why she named the album Silence Between Songs. She said: “I learned the most about myself in the quiet moments and I’m someone that’s always kind of trying to be busy and not be still because I’ve been afraid of my own thoughts for years and it’s in the times that I was able to accept the silence that I grew the most.”

Earlier this week, Beer performed the album track “Spinnin” on BBC’s Live Lounge, as well as a cover of Joji’s single “Glimpse Of Us.” Beer’s “Spinnin”, which has gained over 9 million streams on Spotify, is the fifth single from her 2023 album. The track reflects Beer’s experience with turmoil in her life.

Charli XCX Releases Video For New Track ‘Baby’

Yesterday, Charli XCX dropped her new track ‘Baby’, accompanied by an awe-inspiring video, directed by Imogene Strauss and Luke Orlando. After the critical success of the album’s first single, ‘Beg For You’ Charli XCX confirmed that ‘Baby’ is one of the first songs she wrote for her upcoming album Crash. The new track has also been noted as one of the pop sensation’s personal favourites on the tracklist. You can watch the video below.

‘Baby’ is a tale of possession and self-assuredness, perfectly summarizing the thought and attitude of the record. The video comes in to illustrate Charli’s desires with an incredible routine, choreographed by Charli’s close collaborator Nathan Kim. Of the song Charli confesses, “The track is about great sex.”. ‘Baby’ debuted on Zane Lowe’s New Music Daily show yesterday, with its debut performance slated to be on SNL this week. This appearance comes 3 months after the star was supposed to appear, but was forced to cancel due to a lack of crew as a result of COVID-19.

Charli’s highly-anticipated forthcoming album, CRASH, will be released on 18th March and is the fifth and final album in her record deal, pre-order information can be found here. Charli kicks off her 21-date North American tour in Los Angeles on 26th March followed by her 17-date UK and European tour which starts in Dublin on 13th May with support from Baby Tate, ELIO, Yeule, Magdalena and A. Another song we know to have made its way onto the album is her recent collaboration with up-and-coming electro-pop superstar Rina Sawayama. In a statement released about the single, Charli had this to say about the track’s meaning, “[it] encapsulates cult theology within popular culture; worship of an image, obsession of a higher power, ritualistic and superstitious practices and the sacrifice for perfection.” The video, filmed in Lancaster, California, the video was directed by Nick Harwood in the same place that the iconic final scene of Se7en was filmed, featuring Brad Pitt having an unfortunate encounter with a box. The press release describes symbolism relating to the cult of celebrities and superstition.

Charli also took to Twitter recently to address some of the poor reception that the new tracks received online. At one point a fan called her ‘mother’, and Charli responded “If u wanna throw around midlife crisis fucking throw it at me. I’m getting older, I’m getting hotter, my tits are stunning, I’m in great shape, I’m dancing, I’m progressing and I’m living my best life – and that the tea.”

Spencer Elden the Baby From the Nevermind Cover Sues Nirvana

The surviving members of 90’s grunge rock group Nirvana Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and the estate of Kurt Cobain, have been sued by Spencer Elden, who appeared as a baby on the cover of their iconic 1991 album Nevermind.

According to a TMZ report and the legal documents uploaded by Pitchfork, Elden has sued all Nirvana band members as well as Nevermind album artwork photographer Kirk Weddle and designer Robert Fisher; the labels responsible for the album’s release, including Universal Music and Geffen Records; and Nirvana’s drummer from 1988 to 1990, Chad Channing.

The lawsuit was filed on August 24 claiming that the defendants have “violated” federal child pornography statutes and that Elden sustained “injuries” and “lifelong damages” due to the defendants’ “commercial child sexual exploitation of him from while he was a minor to the present day”. Neither Grohl, Novoselic, or the estate of Cobain has responded publicly to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit alleges that the band “failed to take reasonable steps to protect Spencer and prevent his widespread sexual exploitation and image trafficking. Cobain agreed to redact Spencer’s image with a sticker bearing the text If you’re offended by this, you must be a closet pedophile” which was in fact detailed by the 1993 Nirvana biography Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana, however, the album was ultimately released without a said sticker.

The lawsuit further claims “Neither Spencer nor his legal guardians ever signed a release authorizing the use of any images of Spencer or of his likeness and certainly not of commercial child pornography depicting him.” It also alleges that Elden never received any compensation following the commercial success of Nevermind.

Elden is seeking actual damages, or liquidated damages amounting to $150,000 per defendant, attorney’s fees, and a trial by jury. Elden now aged 30, was only a few months old when he was photographed for the cover of Nevermind. In a 2016 TIME interview on the 25th anniversary of the album’s release, he revealed that he had had not come fully to terms with appearing on the cover and that he had previously looked into legal action against the label Geffen Records.

“It’s hard not to get upset when you hear how much money was involved, [When] I go to a baseball game and think about it: ‘Man, everybody at this baseball game has probably seen my little baby penis,’ I feel like I got part of my human rights revoked.” Elden also told TIME that he tried reaching out to the band, but was unsuccessful.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, many legal experts say the lawsuit is likely to be dismissed. Bryan Sullivan, an entertainment litigation partner at Early Sullivan, stated that the suit was “ridiculous,” and that even if there wasn’t a written agreement, Elden’s claims are weak. “I think it is highly unlikely that a record company would use a photograph for an album cover without verifying the existence of a release signed by the parents, but, if is there is no release, it does not mean he has a claim for child pornography. As to the right of privacy, you can waive it by your actions or by his parents’ actions in allowing him to be photographed.”

Entertainment lawyer Andrew Brettler agreed that publicity will be a key issue: “What I think really damns their case is the fact that this kid sat for all these interviews and re-created the album art.”

Elden’s lawyer, Mabbie told CNN the cover is an “overly sexualised” image and said that it was “child exploitation in the way that they created it and the way they distribute the image today.” She also states that Elden is expecting another invasion of his privacy as the album approaches its 30th anniversary, which takes place next month.

Ed Sheeran Announces the Birth of his Daughter with Cherry Seaborn

This morning, MBE Ed Sheeran took to Instagram to share the news that his baby daughter was born last week. He and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, are ‘on cloud nine’ and have urged that the public ‘respect [their] privacy at this time.’

It is no secret that Sheeran thinks His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman is one of the ‘best books [he’s] ever read’. As a result fans are taking to Twitter to share theories that his daughter, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, is named after the novel’s feisty protagonist.

Sheeran and Seaborn, who got married last year, first met when they attended Thomas Mill High School together in Framlingham, Suffolk. Sheeran had a crush on the highly intelligent hockey player Cherry, but the romance was cut short when she left to attend Duke University in America.

They reconnected later during the phase of life when Sheeran was shying away from the public eye. In 2015 he was struggling to come to terms with his new celebrity status, choosing to take a year off music during which he ‘watched movies…order[ed] takeaways and put on a lot of weight’. Not the lifestyle you’d imagine for a bright young singer-songwriter.

Eventually he decided to do some travelling, and during this time rekindled his romance with childhood crush Cherry Seaborn. From there their love story went from strength to strength, largely out of the public eye. ‘I never really do anything too public anyway‘ he stated in an interview with Access when asked how he managed to ‘sneak’ in the marriage without his fans knowing.

Despite this secrecy, the couple appeared together in the music video for Sheeran’s collaboration with Ella Mai: Put It All On Me. The music video is a testament to Ed’s romantic sensibility, as it features a series of real-life couples dancing, with captions about their love stories at the bottom of the frame.

Alongside ‘Jeannie and Kamel’ who ‘married in 2017′ only to spend their first year as newlyweds ‘separated by the U.S. Immigration’ system are Ed and Cherry, dancing around their kitchen. Their caption reads: ‘Back in High School, Ed and Cherry were crushing hard// They made out at the castle on the hill… A few years ago they reconnected, there were fireworks… They got married in 2019′. Now Ed and Cherry can add the arrival of their baby girl Lyra to their love story!
