The 39-year-old will be putting on two unforgettable shows in July 2024 in Cardiff and Manchester respectively. Lavigne, famous for her 2002 hit “Sk8er Boi”, is bringing along fellow Canadians, Rock band Simple Plan, as special guests for both shows.

Before the shows with Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan will be in the UK for their Hard As Rock tour with New York band State Champs and Florida based band Mayday Parade, which kicks off at the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on February 9, and wraps up at London’s Eventim Apollo on February 16, 2024. Throughout this tour, the equivalent of $1 (equivalent to 79p) from each ticket sold will be donated to the Simple Plan Foundation, whose aim is to help young people in need, by easing their difficult passage to adulthood and by supporting the victims of life threatening illnesses.

Lavigne released her seventh studio album Love Sux on February 25, 2022. The album charted at number three in the UK and included the singles “Bite Me”, “Love It When You Hate Me” and “I’m A Mess”. The “Girlfriend” singer will be hitting the road in Europe this summer, alongside her UK shows, to promote the album, produced by Blink-182’s Travis Barker.

In other Avril Lavigne news, last month the pop-punk icon made a surprise appearance at When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas. While onstage, she first joined American Rock band All Time Low for “Fake As Hell”, her new collaborative track with the band, before pleasing the crowd with a performance of her classic hit “Sk8er Boi”.

English singer Yungblud has announced this summer’s substantial outdoor UK show at Cornwall’s Eden Project. It will follow the singer’s debut UK arena tour which wraps up this week. Tickets will be released for sale this coming Monday, February 27 at 5 pm GMT. You can buy yours here.

playin a special one off show at the eden project. tix onsale monday 27th feb at 5pm. don’t be late

Rita Broe, Managing Director of Eden Sessions Ltd says, “We’re excited to welcome the hugely talented YUNGBLUD to Eden. He unites his listeners and provides a voice for a generation, aligning with our mission to bring communities together. We know this is going to be an unforgettable show.”

The UK leg of Yungblud’s 2023 world tour is still ongoing and the next tour will continue in Sheffield tomorrow night (February 24) ahead of a final date in London. Yungblud has teamed up with the Show Support organisation throughout the tour. Their main responsibility is offering mental health support for fans at the gigs. Yungblud spoke to the PA news agency regarding additional safety measures he has planned to put in place to prevent physical harm directed at fans. He said, “We’re basically building our stage like it is at a festival, we’re putting a runway down the middle of it, to split the crowd out because I know a lot of people feel unsafe because like my gigs go f****** nuts.”

In more than 20 countries, Yungblud has performed to sold-out crowds, noticeable places from London’s Alexandra Palace to The Shrine in Los Angeles. He has also collaborated with very big artists: Machine Gun Kelly, Demi Lovato on the track of her HOLY FVCK album, “Freak”, Avril Lavigne on her track, “I’m A Mess”, Willow Smith featured on his song, “Memories” from his latest album and Travis Barker (Blink 182) on mammoth hits such as “Kelly’s I Think I’m OKAY”, which peaked on the US Billboard charts at No 3.

In 2021, he covered David Bowie’s “Life On Mars” which was chosen by NASA as the soundtrack for the one-tonne Perseverance rover’s landing on Mars, which was live-streamed on YouTube. The rendition of the track coming from the singer gained massive attention from NASA, following his performance of it as a part of a tribute event online called A Bowie Celebration: Just for One Day.

The Glasgow synth-pop trio Chvrches have come out with a cover of Avril Lavigne’s 2002 hit “I’m With You’” as part of an Apple Music Home Session, alongside a rendition of “California” from their recent album Screen Violence.

Chvrches have had a year packed with music releases; alongside their new album, they have also released an E.P. of remixed versions of the song ‘Good Girls’, a remix of ‘How Not To Drown’ by The Cure’s Robert Smith, and two additional remixes of ‘Good Girls’ and ‘Turning The Bones’ by none other than legendary horror director and composer John Carpenter, known as the mastermind behind classics such as 1978’s Halloween and 1982’s The Thing. In light of this, the group has also recently recorded a cover of ‘Cry Little Sister’ from the 1987 film The Lost Boys. The cover is to be featured in the upcoming Netflix film ‘Nightbooks’.

Beginning in 2011, Chvrches initially had little intention to actually play live, putting out a single entitled “Lies” on Neon Gold Records’ blog site and receiving almost immediate success, with the song even being played on BBC Radio 1. The group would release their debut album The Bones Of What You Believe two years later, following a successful slew of single releases and TV performances, both in the UK and in North America.

Chvrches’ recent Apple Music Home Session sees them take an entirely different approach to their own music; instead of thumping electronic drums and silky synth melodies, they have opted for a stripped-down set-up, featuring an acoustic guitar, a piano, and the satisfying sound of a brushed drumkit. It may seem out of the blue to some that Chvrches would choose to cover Avril Lavigne, however singer Lauren Mayberry referred to the song as: “A classic banger-ballad of our times” according to NME.

The session is of course exclusive to Apple Music, and can be listened to down below, or at this link.

Yesterday, Yungblud shared some very exciting news with his fans: Later this year, he will be going on a virtual tour which he is calling ‘The Weird Time Of Life Tour’. Given the current situation surrounding Covid-19, it is not possible for artists to perform live; many are hoping that next year it will be safe, while some, like Yungblud, are adapting.

For those who aren’t sure what a virtual tour is – and since it’s the first one to take place – the artist shared a video explaining everything. He began by saying, ” ‘Ello, what’s goin’ on? I just wanted to clear up any confusion…it’s quite a confusing time. What the fuck is a digital tour?”

It was confirmed that fans who attend will hear songs from the new album ‘Weird’, they’ll be able to attend regardless of the city they live in, and can purchase tickets for as many different shows as they like. Yungblud’s reason for running this tour is because he enjoys performing live, connecting with fans, and experiencing lots of different cultures.

General sale tickets will go on sale this Friday, 2nd October, at 5pm while the pre-sale will open at 1pm on 1st October for those who pre-order ‘Weird’ before 9.30am the same day. The singer also revealed that tickets will cost just $5 each. But, there will still be a limited number of tickets available, just like a real live-show.

The tour was previously scheduled to kick off on April 1 at O2 Academy Brixton, followed by three more dates. However, it is not clear at the moment whether the shows would be rescheduled.

Now the United States of America has implemented its own travel ban.
Regretting cancelling the tour, the “Complicated” hitmaker took to her Instagram composing a lengthy note for her fans. The post reads, “A heartfelt message to my fans: As you all are aware, governments across Europe have continued to impose restrictions banning large public gatherings because of the continued spread of the coronavirus.”

She continued, “Now the United States of America has implemented its own travel ban. With these restrictions in place it means that I am no longer able to bring the Head Above Water Tour to Europe and the United Kingdom. And it sucks!”

“I have been looking forward to this tour for so long. For the opportunity to reconnect with my amazing, supportive fans. My main concern continues to be your health and safety and I want to come back and rock out with you at another time when everyone can enjoy the shows without worry. Sending you all so much love.”

The ‘Head Above Water’ Tour should be Lavigne’s return to the UK in almost ten years since the ‘Black Star’ Tour, a tour in support of her 2011’s Goodbye Lullaby. She played for two dates at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith and one at O2 Apollo Manchester.

In April, the 35-year-old planned to make a comeback for her UK fans with a tour to support her recent LP Head Above Water. Released in February 2019, the record is largely inspired by her battle with Lyme disease, which forced her to take a six-year hiatus from music. The album received moderate success and reception, with singles like “Head Above Water”, “Tell Me It’s Over” “I Fell in Love with the Devil“, and “Dumb Blonde“.

After the tickets for the first date on April 1 in London was released, they were rapidly sold out. The Canadian rocker then added two more dates on the 5th and the 6th. It is very unfortunate to see Lavigne’s huge tour get cancelled in this very hard time.

Avril Lavigne returned to the spotlight on Wednesday September 19th, stronger than ever as she released her first song in five years. The Canadian singer/song-writer, who is reportedly working on her sixth studio album, released the emotional track ‘Head Above Water’, after teasing fans with snippets for the past few weeks.

In a heartfelt letter to fans, Lavigne shared both her struggles and creative process. “One night, I thought I was dying, and I had accepted that I was going to die. My mom laid with me in bed and held me. I felt like I was drowning. Under my breath, I prayed, ‘God, please help to keep my head above the water.’ In that moment, the song-writing of this album began. It was like I tapped into something. It was a very spiritual experience. Lyrics flooded through me from that point on.”

This comes after the ‘Here’s to Never Growing Up’ singer issued an emotional message to fans, earlier this month, promising to release a comeback single this month as well as speaking out on the “worst years of her life”. Speaking about how her battle with the disease influenced her song-writing, Lavigne, said: “Five years have gone by since I released my last album. I spent the last few years at home sick fighting Lyme Disease. Those were the worst years of my life as I went through both physical and emotional battles. I was able to turn that fight into music I’m really proud of. I wrote songs in my bed and on the couch and recorded there mostly as well. Words and lyrics that were so true to my experience came pouring out of me effortlessly. Truly… by keeping my spirits up, having goals to reach and a purpose to live for, my music helped to heal me and keep me alive.”

The pop-punk singer has not released an album since her self-titled record in 2013, having been largely home-ridden because of a battle with Lyme disease after being diagnosed in 2015. During this time, Lavigne announced that she had split from husband, Nickelback frontman, Chad Kroeger, after two years of marriage in September 2015. The singer briefly returned to the spotlight last year when she performed her first live show in three years by reuniting with Nickelback on stage, while they were performing at the Greek Theatre in LA.
