Northern Irish rock band Ash have been forced to delay their 25th anniversary tour dates until 2021, due to concerns regarding the Coronavirus pandemic. Set to have taken place this year, this new reschedule marks the second time the quarter-century tour has been pushed further into the future – yet originally purchased tickets are still valid, and a number of August and September shows will still be taking place.

In a Facebook post made yesterday on the band’s official page, Ash told fans that, “As gutting as it is to tell you, I don’t think anyone will be surprised to hear that we once again have to reschedule our tour dates due to the Coronavirus pandemic.” They hope to be “on the other side of this” by next spring, with fans able to attend performances without risk to health and wellbeing. They assure their supporters that they know they miss seeing the shows “as much as we miss playing,” signing off with, “Big love. Ash.”

The post was shared on the band’s other social media platforms, including their official Twitter page, @ashofficial, where fans have taken to the comments to question the status of certain tour dates, make requests for visiting performances to their home cities (Birmingham is a particularly popular destination), or simply reminisce on past shows they had seen, loved and continue to hold dearly in their hearts.

I don't think anyone will be surprised to hear that we again have to reschedule our tour dates due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
As one tweeter commented, speaking of his experience at the band’s Oslo performance, “I’ve never been more happy defying the cold weather on a Sunday to go to what could very well be the last great show in 2020.” For those keen on forging new memories at upcoming live shows, the complete list of future tour dates has been shared by Ash on their official website, and is listed in full here:

Ash have announced that they will be playing two additional dates in Dublin and Belfast this December following on from their October tour. The band will be hitting the road on the 16th of October in Sheffield and were set to conclude the tour on the 24th of October in London. However, the additional gigs will see the trio perform at The Academy in Dublin on the 19th of December and Limelight 1 in Belfast on the 20th of December.

Speaking about the bands headline October tour, Tim Wheeler, said: “It’s nice because normally we do a headline tour close to the album’s release but this time it’s three or four months later. The fans will know the album well and we’ll also have a good idea of what the fan’s favourite songs are. We’re going to play a bunch from the record and a lot of old hits as well. I think this album is going to be really good live. We played six songs from it last night at our launch gig and they’re really fun to play, that’s even before we start adding stuff like Incoming Wave, which is one of my favourites. There’s a bunch of songs we haven’t even played yet live that I’m really excited about.”

The Irish alternative-rock trio, who have been together for nearly three decades, released their seventh studio album ‘Islands’ on the 18th of May via Infectious Music, to critical acclaim and are touring the UK and Ireland in support of its release.

“That’s wicked! I guess we’re following on the momentum from Kablammo! We finished that tour and got straight into the writing and recording. It just took a bit longer to come out than we would have hoped because we were sorting out the new record deal. We’re following what we started with Kablammo, which was our first album in quite a few years and that was our return to the album. It gave us a really good feeling of confidence. We felt a lot of pressure coming back with Kablammo! because we said we’d never make another album so this one has to be really good. With this album we felt we’d answered that. We just needed to get a collection of great songs and make it so it would sound great as a three piece played live. That was our starting point really,” says Wheeler, speaking about the bands seventh studio album ‘Islands’.
