The singer’s mother Sharon Osbourne wrote on her Instagram: “They are the lucky two (Aimée and her producer) that made it out alive, It is utterly heartbreaking that someone lost their life today in this fire & we are sending our prayers to this person & their family.” her post then continued. “What happened today was beyond horrific, I really hope moving forward that buildings like this are better regulated for fire safety. This building was a creative hub for music in Hollywood, a space that should have been regulated for fire code.”

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, two others who escaped from the building suffered from smoke inhalation (via LA Times) but they declined to be taken to a hospital. The inferno began shortly before 6pm local time on the first floor of the industrial building, which houses several recording studios and incredibly valuable recording and mixing equipment. The fire then spread to parts of the second floor, and according to the LAFD it took 78 firefighters a full 51 minutes to extinguish the rapidly spreading inferno. LA Fire Captain Erik Scott said the building’s layout and interior construction made for a challenging firefight; the recording studios had soundproofing, double drywall, and more than the usual amount of insulation, which concentrated the heat.

Rapper Maxxamillion who owned the studio told ABC7 that he lost his entire studio and $50,000 worth of equipment in the fire. He told the reporters “I opened the door, I saw smoke coming from across the hall, I immediately reached over to grab a jug of water. I threw it at the door, flames bursted. I tried to go back to my room and grab anything I could, but flames were everywhere, and we ran out the building, and that was it.”

The unnamed man who sadly perished in the fire was found dead on the first floor by trained LAFD dogs who were sent into the building. The Fire Department’s arson investigators are looking into the fire to determine the cause.

ARO who may have been recording new music at the studio most recently dropped the track “Against Mine” last month, which she wrote before the coronavirus pandemic. She said of her new single. “I really tried to capture the element of frustration that comes with not feeling like you can actually express how you really feel about someone, and then if you do, how they pull away, even though they might feel the same way. The ebbing and flow of that were fascinating to me.” You can view the music video for her latest track below.

ARO has been making music since around 2010, with Aimee donning the moniker as she was starting her own musical career. Being the daughter of rock icon Ozzy Osbourne might seem a daunting shadow to live under, but she’s had music successes in her own right, with their 2015 track “Raining Gold“ reaching 2.7 million views on YouTube.

The group is made up of Osbourne on vocals, Billy Mohler on guitar/bass, Rene Arsenault on keyboards/programming and Brendan Buckey on drums. Despite their infrequent output, they did get together for a debut album back in 2020, titled “Vacare Adamaré“.

On the decision to release their debut during the pandemic, Osbourne said “The record company asked if I wanted to delay until 2021, but I just thought you know what? People really need music right now to keep their creativity going and to switch their focus away from stress. A small part of me thought about delaying, but I thought ‘Screw it, I’m gonna take a risk and release it and see what happens’.“

And if you were wondering what Ozzy thinks of all this, it’s good news. Aimee says that her Dad’s pleased with what she’s doing, saying “My dad has responded really positively to a lot of it. It’s been a really fun way to connect with him about being in the same industry now. He is so dedicated and his ability to continue working and creating, his appetite for that is so admirable, it’s unbelievable.”

Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be much of a touring band so there are no live dates coming up, but you can always follow her on social media at this link if you want to keep up to date with the latest ARO news and releases.

The music video and the new single have been described by Osbourne as definitely one of the songs I’m most proud of. I wanted this track to feel hypnotic. In keeping with the album, House of Lies is a synth-pop track with odes to her darker rock DNA.

Osbourne is the eldest and more private daughter of the famous duo Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. She declined to appear on the television series ‘The Osbournes’ and has as a result not received the fame and recognition that her sister Kelly or brother Jack have achieved. ARO has not ruled out an Ozzy duet in the future.

She began her career as an actress initially, starring in the 2003 adaptation of ‘Wuthering Heights’. She then transitioned into music with the alias and musical project ARO that features synth-pop and gothic poeticism throughout all the catalogues.

ARO was formed nearly 10 years ago and subsequently released her first singles in 2015-2016 before going on hiatus. Raining Gold, I Can Change and Cocaine Style were the three singles released before the singer teased an EP release in 2018. The EP was never released.

On July 24th, 2020, Osbourne returned with the release of her first new music in 4 years with the single and video Shared Something With The Night. The album was then released October 30th and came as no surprise considering its ghostly and haunted ‘Halloween’ themed tracks.

The album Vacare Adamare will be released like EP Chapters in music video form. So far only two singles have been released with music videos, House of Lies and Shared Something With The Night.

There are no tour or concert dates for 2020 or 2021 from ARO as of yet, largely to due with safety concerns surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. Osbourne has stated that her record label considered postponing the album until 2021 but she insisted it be released during isolation, saying that people needed new music right now.

The new single House of Lies and the previously release album Vacare Adamare are now both available for download and streaming on all platforms. The new music video for House of Lies is available on YouTube under Osbournes ARO Official site.

In an interview with Altpress, the eldest child of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, spoke about the meaning behind the album, saying; “It’s interesting because I am so inspired by so many different genres. You can definitely pick up on those different influences when you’re listening to the album. I would hope it would feel pretty well-rounded and not too one-note.”

“I guess you could say it’s definitely moody,” she continues; “there are some upbeat, dark pop songs and ethereal, softer songs. I would hope that someone would feel like they were being taken on a well-rounded musical journey. There are really very few genres that I haven’t connected with in some way, even if it was just one song. So I tried to keep my ears fresh. I’m looking for new things and asking people whose taste I really respect.”

House of Lies is the second single released off the album, Shared Something with the Night, came out in July and was the singers first release in four years. The rest of the track list is yet to be released, but it was reported by Rolling Stone, that ARO will be releasing the songs from the album in EP-like chapters, built around videos for each song. They also intend on making sure the live performances will be as visual as the music videos are.

ARO have also announced they will be performing a live streamed show from LA’s Hotel Café on September 26th. This performance will support their release of House of Lies but they will be performing some of the other songs from the upcoming album. You can get tickets to the performance here.
