The award-winning festival is returning next summer 2026 and will run from 19-22 August, and a list of artists has been shared on their Instagram, with headliners still to be announced.

At the top of the announcement is French artist Igorrr. The band mix together black metal with baroque, and are unique. This performance will be a UK exclusive. Joining them are fellow French musicians, metal band Alcest, electronic artist Perturbator, metal band Chat Pile, Belgian band Oathbreaker, Icelandic art rock band Agent Fresco, British rock band TTNG and many more artists.

Speaking about the festival, organiser James Scarlett said, “The demand for ArcTanGent 2026 tickets has truly been unprecedented, with over half our tickets sold in the first 2 weeks of them being sold.” “Fans will have to wait a little bit longer before we can announce our headliners, but we’re so excited for the exclusives, reformations and special sets we’ve already cooked up.”

The festival is taking place near Bristol from 19-22 August next year. They celebrated their tenth year running in 2024 and was shortlisted at the Festival Awards once again. It also won best small festival in 2018.

The festival continues to bring together some of the most interesting, diverse, exciting, and eclectic line-up of artists for any festival anywhere in the world. The award-winning festival is described as a green fields music festival that delivers unique line-ups that you won’t find anywhere else.

ArcTanGent festival has built a reputation for being the emerging UK rock festival, by putting on exclusive performances from not only exceptional, worldwide artists, but also new, exciting talent. The festival is fully independent and grows organically year on year.

Earlier this year, the festival took place at Fernhill Farm near Bristol from 13-16 August, and was another unforgettable year for fans of experimental and alternative music. The festival delivered a diverse and boundary-pushing lineup that showcased innovative artists in the underground scene.

Some of this years headliners included Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Karnivool, Tesseract, and Wardruna, with each bringing distinctive sounds to the festival’s main stages. The lineup also celebrated special moments such as honouring the 20th anniversaries of Maybeshewill and Rolo Tomassi, whilst Ithaca gave an emotional farewell performance. A new wave of 46 artists has just been announced, including a major exclusive return for Arcane Roots, who are playing their first shows in over 7 years. The updated lineup includes Maruja, Nordic Giants, Eivør, Zu, Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, Jamie Lenman, and Pupil Slicer. The previously announced headliners are Primus, Chelsea Wolfe, and Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas. Sikth has been announced as the headliner for Wednesday night.

Nordic metal group Wardruna will headline the Wednesday night, and Milton Keynes prog metal band Tesseract will headline the Saturday.

Other new names on the lineup include grindcore duo Clown Core, Norwegian proggers Leprous, and French psych-rockers Slift. Also announced were Arab Strap, Emma Ruth Rundle, Kalandra, Mew and Green Lung – the last two bands marked as UK festival exclusives.

This new crop of artists will join a bill that features Karnivool as Friday nights headliners, Melvins, Rolo Tomassi, Kylesa, Adebisi Shank, Fall Of Troy and Between The Buried and Me. The festival will take place from August 13 – 16 in at Fernhill Farm in Bristol, with tickets on sale now.

In a press release, James Monteith, guitarist of Tesseract said: “We’re beyond excited to headline the Saturday at Arctangent 2025! The lineup once again boasts some of the most innovative and forward-thinking alternative bands around, and we’re truly honoured to close out the festival. This show will also mark the conclusion of our two-year tour in support of ‘War of Being‘, so we’re planning a very special performance to celebrate this milestone.”

An important part of the “Djent” movement within progressive metal, Tesseract released their fifth studio album, ‘War of Being’ in 2023 to positive reviews, with critics hailing it as their strongest work to date.

On January 10 this year they treated fans with a Tour Edition of their latest album, to coincide with their ‘War of Being Part 2 Tour’ coming in February. This updated version adds three bonus tracks recorded live from their headline set at Radar Festival 2024, featuring Kat Marsh of Choir Noir.


Fellow headliners Wardruna dropped their sixth studio album, ‘Birna’, recently on January 25. Reviewers appreciated its instrumentation and earthly themes, with Silent Radio commenting: “This album does not only transport you to a forest, but it will also leave you in a trance. One which you would not want to get out of.”

Festival organiser and booker James Scarlett expressed his excitement for the 2025 lineup additions: “To have Wardruna, a Main Stage headliner, closing off the Wednesday night of ArcTanGent 2025 truly cements this as our biggest year yet.

“If you can make it to ATG a day early, a 4-Day ticket is now a no brainer. Not to mention Tesseract headlining Saturday night alongside the new additions of Clown Core, Mew, Arab Strap, Envy, Green Lung and tonnes more across the whole weekend. You’re not going to want to miss a second of this weekend – FOMO is an understatement.”


Arctangent has become a crucial festival for platforming post, math, metal and various other progressive rock artists. With a capacity of around 10,000, It’s maintained its charm as a smaller, intimate event, where both upcoming acts and more renowned names are celebrated for their experimental music. Last year, the festival organisers fulfilled a longstanding wish of theirs, featuring Scottish post-rock titans Mogwai as a headliner for Arctangent’s 10th anniversary.

James Scarlett told MusicRadar: “Doing this without any corporate backing is tough but we’ve got there, and it makes me very proud to sit back and think about all the wonderful times we’ve had. Roll on year 20!”

UPDATE 27/3/2025: Arctangent Festival has just announced their final festival headliner for their next event – Godspeed, You! Black Emperor will be performing a European exclusive set on the main stage, returning to Arctangent after a nine year gap. Also newly announced on the bill are Chicago math rockers Snooze, who will be joining the stacked lineup for this year’s edition.

Other acts to be recently confirmed include: Maybeshewill, Frontierer, Mclusky, God Is An Astronaut (as a UK exclusive show), The Callous Daoboys (as a UK exclusive festival show), who all add to the already exciting and eclectic metal lineup.

Set to take place between August 13-16, ArcTanGent Festival welcomes an award-winning service with incredibly phenomenal bands and a chilled ambience on the idyllic Fernhill Farm, near Bristol.

As the up-and-coming rock festival of the UK, ArcTanGent Festival have constructed a reputation for their exciting, exclusive and eclectic line ups. So much so, following the success of its tenth festival, ArcTanGent Festival was once again shortlisted at the Festival Awards, an incredible achievement after their win of Best Small Festival in 2018.

Next year’s main stage headliner is the remarkable progressive metal band, Karnivool, who will be coming from Australia to make their ArcTanGent festival debut. Their appearance in the UK will see them perform an exclusive show alongside their appearance at the festival.

Karnivool released their most recent studio album Asymmetry back in 2013, the band’s highly anticipated new music is set to be well on the way, perhaps making an appearance at their ArcTanGent Festival set. The exclusivity of Karnivool’s appearance makes the announcement of their headline set a legendary and memorable moment for ArcTanGent Festival.

Upon their upcoming appearance at ArcTanGent next year, Karnivool emphasised: “How good is music? It thrills us from our collective hearts, excited to be circling the round round globe just to play this one show with some amazing acts and friends, ArcTanGent see you there! How good is music?”

Accompanying Karnivool, ArcTanGent Festival will welcome the appearance of Melvins, whose performance with be an UK festival exclusive, alongside one of the UK’s most legendary heavy bands Rolo Tomassi, psychedelic rock infused metal band Kylesa and the masters of metal, Scottish five-piece DVNE.

Rolo Tomassi commented on their appearance at next year’s ArcTanGent Festival stating: “When it came to deciding how to best celebrate our twentieth anniversary there was only one thing we had in mind. We’re delighted to be returning to ArcTanGent and look forward to putting together a special show for this incredibly special festival.”

In the past, the festival has featured a large number of well-revered and long-running musical groups such as Explosions In The Sky, Meshuggah, Deafheaven and Russian Circles.

ArcTanGent 2022

On the 21st of May 2021, when many other UK festivals such as End Of The Road and Reading & Leeds were still set to go ahead, ArcTanGent was unfortunately cancelled. In a statement, it was explained exactly why they could not go forward with the proceedings this year: “Every single festival in the U.K. has been asking for months for a Government backed insurance policy allowing us to confidently host events this year. We were hopeful that this insurance would be in place by now, but they simply keep ignoring our requests and without it a festival this year is just too risky.”

ArcTanGent was, however, able to reveal the silver lining of the situation in that same statement, confirming that any tickets purchased for the 2021 festival were automatically valid for the following year, as well as confirming a number of bands, including the crushingly heavy Belgian sludge metal outfit Amenra, the highly esoteric hardcore punk/powerviolence group The Locust, as well as some extremely big names such as progressive metal titans Opeth. As of today, ArcTanGent has revealed an additional twenty-one bands for its 2022 line-up, initially making the announcement on Twitter. Some of the new additions include the American math rock band The Fall Of Troy, known for their high energy instrumentals and technical guitar work, Delta Sleep, Hail The Sun, Talons, and Swedish avant-garde metal group Zeal & Ardor.

UPDATE 06/11

ArcTangent Festival has now announced the addition of thirty-six fantastic new bands to the line-up. One of the most exciting groups to join the roster is American doom metal outfit Pallbearer, who will be celebrating the ninth anniversary of their debut full-length Sorrow and Extinction by playing the record in full. Also joining the line-up is the psychedelic rock/doom metal group Elephant Tree, London mathcore band Pupil Slicer and doom metal band Conjurer. You can see the full line-up below. 

According to a recent press release, a member of Pupil Slicer stated: “ArcTanGent was the first music festival I ever attended and was instrumental in my love of music. The scope of bands ATG brings together across so many genres has been hugely inspirational for the direction of Pupil Slicer. It has been our dream to play ATG ever since we started the project and are honoured to be a part of this event alongside many fantastic bands that we look up to.”

ArcTanGent Festival has now announced sixteen new acts for the 2022 line-up. Joining the roster are legendary Providence noise rock duo Lightning Bolt, eclectic UK singer-songwriter Jamie Lenman, math rock trio Covet, stoner rock outfit Bossk, Nottingham five-piece Palm Reader, Thank You Scientist, DVNE, Blanket, Zetra, Tuskar, El Moono, Heirot, Ithaca, Rubbing and Greywave. The festival will now also play host to the debut performance by Skin Failure, a band that features Will Gardner and Dave Larkin from the now-defunct Black Peaks.

ATG Festival organiser James Scarlett said, according to a press release:“This announcement might be considered the icing on  the cake, but really it is so much more than that. I’ve been trying to  book Lighting Bolt ever since we started ATG, so it feels like a  really big booking now it has finally happened. I also think that DVNE  are basically the best up and coming band in the UK, so everyone needs  to check them out now – For Fans Of Mastodon and Cult of Luna. I can’t  wait for August!”

Both festivals were made to cancel their events this year due to the enforced COVID-19 restrictions, with the former saying they were “left with no other choice than to pull the plug before it was too late”. Now, the festivals have come together for a new event dubbed 80 Trees, set to take place across two days at the Exchange venue in Bristol on July 31 and August 1.

In an announcement, they wrote “We’ll be running the first ever 2000trees vs ArcTanGent live event in Bristol! 80-Trees…” and continued “That’s right two days and nights of ACTUAL. LIVE. GIGS showcasing some of the best bands from Trees and ATG past, present and future.” 

The statement also added: “As you know we’re all super gutted that both ATG and our sister festival, 2000trees, can’t go ahead this summer. Last year we couldn’t all meet face to face so we put on our very first virtual festival – three days of awesome music recorded in lockdown by some of our favourite bands… But can watching bands on your laptop or phone really keep you going for another summer??? Na us neither!”

All the details for the festival were uploaded to their social media sites, with the line-up set to be announced next week with tickets on sale now here.

2000trees and ArcTanGent are among a growing number of UK festivals that have been cancelled this year due to the ongoing concerns caused by the pandemic. A recent survey has revealed that at least half of UK festivals have now been cancelled this year. Despite this, there are still some events set to go ahead, in July fans will be flocking to Latitude and Tramlines, with both of these events taking part in the next stage of the government’s Events Research Programme (ERP).

The ERP has seen audiences attend a weekend of events in Liverpool, the BRIT Awards and Download Festival to investigate the safety of large crowds returning to events after the coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, Green Man Festival announced that it will go ahead with its 2021 event, taking place in the Black Mountains in Wales in late August.
