Originally released in 1975, ‘Horses’ marked Smith’s arrival as one of rock’s most uncompromising and visionary voices. The record blended poetry with punk, channelling urgency and raw emotion into a sound that challenged the conventions of the era.

Over the decades, the album has earned widespread critical acclaim and enduring recognition. It was awarded the prestigious Charles Cros Award, inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2021, and selected for preservation in the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry.

Publications have consistently hailed its importance. NME placed ‘Horses’ at number 12 on its list of the greatest albums of all time, describing Smith as “a punk poet like no other” and praising the album as “screeching and visceral, raw with fury and full of desire […] rapturous rock n’ roll.”

The 50th anniversary edition of ‘Horses’ delves deeper into the making of the record. Alongside the remastered album, fans will gain access to alternate takes of tracks, Smith’s original 1975 audition tape for RCA, and four previously unreleased songs: ‘Distant Fingers’, ‘The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game’, ‘We Three’, and ‘Snowball’. ‘Snowball’ has been released early to give listeners a taste of the rare material unearthed for this reissue.

To further mark the milestone, Smith has announced a special European tour in October, performing ‘Horses’ in full alongside other career highlights. The tour will visit seven cities, including London, Dublin, Madrid, Bergamo, Brussels, Oslo, and Paris. London’s iconic Palladium will host Smith for two consecutive nights on October 12 and 13.

‘Horses’ is widely considered one of the most influential debut albums in modern music, noted for its combination of poetry and rock. The new edition aims to showcase not only the original recording but also previously unheard material that sheds further light on Smith’s early work.

Released in March 2011, the record made an immediate impact on the UK music scene. It entered the UK Albums Chart at No. 4 and went on to sell more than half a million copies, earning platinum status. The album’s sharp, energetic guitar work and infectious choruses drew comparisons to The Strokes and The Ramones, while establishing The Vaccines as one of the most exciting new British bands of the decade. Its standout singles – ‘If You Wanna’, ‘Post Break-Up Sex’ and ‘Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra)’ – quickly became festival anthems and remain some of the group’s most popular tracks to this day.

To mark the milestone, the band will perform the album in full alongside other highlights from their catalogue. The tour begins on March 3 at O2 City Hall in Newcastle and will visit major cities including Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham and Bristol, before closing with a headline date at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on March 13. Chicago band Brigitte Calls Me Baby will join as special guests across the run.

When ‘What Did You Expect from The Vaccines?’ first arrived, it was hailed as a defining debut of the early 2010s indie rock revival. The album, which features the singles “Lived A Lie” and “Fresh Start Fever”, was released January 27, 2014 and marked the band’s first record to reach the number one spot on the UK’s official album chart.

The Surrey-based rockers, joined by fellow English alternative band Deaf Havana, will be hitting the road next February for an 8 date stint across the UK, starting in Wolverhampton.

In an Instagram post by frontman Josh Franceschi, he informed fans this tour would be the “only UK shows next year other than our appearance at Slam Dunk.” The 33 year-old also prepared fans for the shows by saying: “With Cavalier Youth turning 10 we’ll be playing a bunch of that as well as some other heat.”

You Me At Six’s latest release and eighth studio album Truth Decay, dropped on February 10, 2023, and saw the band celebrate their career as one of the UK’s biggest modern rock bands. Discussing the album, Franceschi said: “We are at our best when all five of us are on the frontline, living it and breathing it, all five of us swinging, putting our creativity into it. That’s what Truth Decay gives you.”

In other news, You Me At Six were recently announced as headliners for 2024’s Slam Dunk Festival alongside acts such as The All-American Rejects and I Prevail, with Pale Waves, Funeral For A Friend, Asking Alexandria, Waterparks, The Wonder Years and many more acts joining the lineup.

Liam announced his plans to celebrate the Definitely Maybe anniversary earlier this year, promising to play the album in full in its original order. He took to Twitter, sharing his plans to play in “biblical venues” to honour the album.

When officially announcing the tour, Liam said, “I’m bouncing around the house to announce the ‘Definitely Maybe’ Tour. The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn’t be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together LG x.” This week, a fan asked if he planned to play any solo material to close the show to which Liam replied, “no solo stuffs.”

Liam has been regularly dropping hints about what fans can expect from the tour, promising B-side performances. Taking to Twitter once again, Liam shared his plans to perform Oasis’ cover version of “I Am The Walrus” by The Beatles amongst other unexpected tracks.

Noel Gallagher has also shared his plans to celebrate Definitely Maybe‘s 30th anniversary, confirming that the album will be reissued. The reissue will include tracks that were previously lost, with Noel sharing, “In the Sony archives we’ve found tapes dating to those sessions. We thought they were lost, but they were mislabelled. They are wonderful versions of those songs, some acoustic versions.”

Noel has denied the possibility of an Oasis reunion however, saying, “There won’t be a tour. We won’t come back to play them together.”

In response to fan questions on whether the artist will also be performing any of the album’s b-sides, Gallagher responded with an emphatic yes. He added, ““of course your getting it all (‘Definitely Maybe’) and a few Norty b sides might even roll out (Oasis’ cover of The Beatles‘) ‘I Am The Walrus’ just for crocs n boob tubes.”

With the relationship struggles between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher well documented, Liam has decided to tour Definitely Maybe alone and independently as Noel has unequivocally dashed the idea of a reunion happening any time in the near future. There are however, plans in the works to provide the album with a 30th anniversary reissue with Noel sharing that the record will feature a few lost songs.

Speaking to Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera, Noel said, “In the Sony archives we’ve found tapes dating to those sessions. We thought they were lost, but they were mislabelled. They are wonderful versions of those songs, some acoustic versions.” 

Recorded and released in 1994, Definitely Maybe announced Oasis onto the music scene and shot the band into instant success and popularity. The album was critically praised and heralded a new awakening for interest in Britpop, with many publications citing the effort as one of the greatest albums ever recorded.

The album spawned hit singles that remain some of the band’s most recognisable and fan favourite songs including, “Supersonic,” “Shakermaker,” and “Live Forever.” The album cemented Oasis as a household name on both sides of the Atlantic and served as the catalyst for the band’s highly successful career.

The group will be heading over to the UK for a 6 date run of shows to commemorate their album with fans.

D12 was formed in 1996 by rapper Proof, who assembled other rappers local to Detroit, Michigan to be part of the ensemble. The group originally consisted of Proof, Bizarre, Mr. Porter, Kuniva and Bugz.

Global superstar Eminem later joined the group in 1999, along with Swifty McVay, following Bugz’s death. However, only Swifty McVay and Kuniva will be present on the upcoming tour.

The supergroup were signed to Eminem’s Shady Records and released two albums. Their debut, 2001’s Devil’s Night, launched them to success by reaching the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 chart and sold 372,000 copies in it’s first week. The album also saw D12 become an award winning group, as they were celebrated as the Best Hip-Hop/Urban Artist (International) at the 2002 ECHO Awards.

D12 followed this with their second and final album, D12 World, which turns 20 years old next year. The lead single “My Band” was a smash hit, which led to the LP also landing the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 chart.

“My Band” reached the top spot in Australia and on the US Rhythmic Top 40, the Top 5 in the UK and Germany, and Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it a fan favourinte, and one of the group’s most successful songs to date. “My Band” is certified platinum in Australia, New Zealand and United Kingdom, and gold in Germany, Norway and United States.

The group disbanded in 2018, just two years after founding member Proof tragically passed away in a shooting in 2016. Many believed this to be the cause D12’s split, and Eminem soon confirmed this in the form of lyrics in his 2018 song “Stepping Stone” from the album Kamikaze. The rapper mentions D12 multiple times in the track, which includes lyrics such as “‘Cause the truth is, the moment that Proof died, so did the group“, and “It’s not goodbye to our friendship, but D12 is over”.

The release of Royal Blood back in 2014, announced the guitar and drumming pair of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher onto the garage rock scene and kick started their journey to super- stardom and sold out arena shows. The album, debuting at number one on the UK album charts, went on to chart within the top ten of multiple countries around the world and also grab a Mercury Prize nomination. To give the album its deserved due and celebrate the momentous achievement, Royal Blood are now mulling over the idea of touring the album next year, in time for its 10 year anniversary.

The band have acknowledged there are a few proposals up in the air to mark the milestone, including a complete live album play-through and/or a revisit of the original tour. They’ve even, most assuredly tongue in cheek, suggested a firework display complete with drones and a musical score. The pair have also hinted at a possible stop along the way at 2024’s edition of the Reading and Leeds festival. It is fairly certain that, whatever the band do decide to do, fans will be poised and ready to join the band on what is sure to be an exciting honouring of such a huge landmark for the group.

The duo released their fourth studio effort, Back To The Water Below on the 1st of September, and are once again on course for another number one record in the UK. Speaking about the new album, guitarist Kerr said the intention behind the experimentation with new sounds was to be sure to not over think the process.

Kerr said, “when we play together, that’s all that’s required for it to be Royal Blood. If we want to go somewhere new, we just go for it. We were basically always in agreement. We very rarely have disagreements about the songs and if we do, it means it’s wrong and we move on to something else. The chemistry is all you have. That’s the thing you have to cherish and if you push that to one side, it defeats the point of doing this.”

Royal Blood found themselves the unlikely centre of controversy earlier this summer, when their performance at BBC 1’s Big Weekend went viral for the band accusing the crowd of not being into the music and then flipping the finger as they walked off stage at the end of the set. The duo, perhaps understandably, continue to field questions over the matter but the band are happy that their music is once again taking the spotlight- for all the right reasons.

Released in 1998, the debut album was a notable success for the band, reaching number 1 in the UK singles charts and number 2 in the Scottish album charts. Initially regarded as a landmark effort within the Britpop sub-genre, the record garnered rave reviews with many critics comparing it favourably to contemporary bands like Oasis and The Verve. The special tour will kick off in Sheffield on 2 November and continue throughout the month, visiting all major cities in the UK.

Commenting on the tour and 25th anniversary, frontman Danny McNamara said, “I can’t believe it’s been 25 years since we released our debut album, but what’s even more amazing is that it still resonates with so many people after all this time. The Piece Hall show [in Halifax on 1 July] was one of the best gigs we’ve ever played, and one of the best nights of my life. Spawning three singles, “All You Good Good People,” “Come Back To What You Know” and “My Weakness Is None Of Your Business”-all of which entered into the top 10 UK charts-The Good Will Out was named as one of NME’s top albums of the year for 1998. Drawing upon a wide range of influences, including PJ Harvey, Michelle Gayle and The Beatles, the album was marketed as a Brit pop effort akin to Oasis-a comparison the band on the one hand acknowledges helped with raising their profile but also sought to downplay any sonic similarities.

Formed in Huddersfield in 1993 by brothers Danny and Richard McNamara, Embrace began making a name for themselves within the live scene in West Yorkshire-selling their demo recordings in cassette form at shows. After sending demos to various labels, the band eventually signed to Virgin imprint Hut Records in 1996, where the band eagerly set to work on the album that would become The Good Will Out.

The band have since continued to be a steady presence in the scene releasing eight studio albums to date. 2022’s How To Be A Person Like Other People came out via the band’s own record label Mobetta. The winter tour, set to begin in Belfast on December 2nd, will now see shows in four new locations, including Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds and Brighton, while the Roundhouse in London and Rock City in Nottingham will now play hosts to two dates. The addition of these new shows now means that the tour will stretch until December 22nd, a fact that will surely impress fans of the much-loved glam rock outfit.

The tour will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of The Darkness’ debut, and much loved, seminal album Permission To Land. An expanded Permission To Land deluxe album is also set to be released later this year via Warner Music especially for the anniversary, with details to be released by the band soon.

The Darkness formed in 2000 in Lowestoft with an initial line-up of Justin Hawkins (lead vocals, lead guitar) , his brother Dan Hawkins (guitar), Frankie Poullain (bass) and Ed Graham (drums). The group released their debut album, Permission To Land, in 2003 to widespread critical acclaim, with the album topping the UK Albums Chart and achieving quadruple platinum status after 1.3 million copies were sold. This album also contained the hit single “I Believe in a Thing Called Love“, by far the band’s most popular track.

The group have gone on to release a further six albums, despite a five year hiatus, with their latest album, Motorheart, being released in 2021. Since their hiatus they have released five albums, and have even released a special Christmas beer in collaboration with brewery Signature Brew.
