The pop-rap duo from Brighton will perform on stage at Alexandra Palace in London May 22. It’ll take place in support of their comeback album ‘Competition Is For Losers’.

When talking about the importance of the show, the band said, “The first football team I ever played for was the Alexandra Palace Broncos. I would go to fireworks night there every single year. I would go ice skating every Christmas.”

“Ally Pally was such a big part of my life and now I get to play there. A genuine dream come true.”

The band rose to fame in the early 2010s with their blend of rap, pop, and soul. Formed in Brighton, the pair gained attention after releasing their debut album ‘Stereo Typical’ in 2011, which reached number five in the UK album chart and had hit singles such as ‘Down with The Trumpets’ and ‘Mama Do the Hump’.

Their combination of playful lyrics and upbeat style made them favourites on the UK music scene, earning them nominations for several major awards such as BRIT and MOBO Awards.

They became regulars on British television shows, appearing on shows such as ‘The Graham Norton Show’ and ‘Top of the Pops’, as well as performing at high-profile events such as the BRIT Awards and BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

Their second album, ‘Roaring 20s‘ (released in 2023), showcased a more mature sound of theirs whilst still maintaining their playful lyrics and upbeat style.

Beyond their music, both members pursued solo projects. Jordan Stephens went into acting, appearing on UK television series such as ‘Glue’, ‘Catastrophe’, and ‘Feel Good’, as well as advocating for mental health awareness. Harley Alexander-Sule performed under the name Jimi Charles Moody, focusing on more soulful music.

In November last year, the duo played their first show together in 10 years at KOKO in Camden Town in London. They later started a UK headline tour in March earlier this year.

Additionally, the group made appearances at multiple summer festivals, including Glastonbury, The Great Escape, and Victorious.

Rizzle Kicks will also play shows in the UK next month. The tour will consist of stops in Bristol, Cambridge, Norwich, Birmingham, Newcastle, and Liverpool. Remaining tickets to the shows can be found here.

This highly anticipated event follows a series of performances in France and other European cities, marking a significant return to the UK stage for the acclaimed duo.

“The show is made even more impressive by the fact that the show has already evolved considerably from its debut iteration at Coachella in April. The duo’s other recent festival appearances, including a standout performance at Field Day at All Points East in London’s Victoria Park, have only heightened anticipation for their upcoming shows.

In addition to their London date, Justice will also perform in Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, and Brussels in December. Tickets for these shows are already on sale, with the exception of their Brussels concert, which will be available from 10am local time on Wednesday, October 2.

Justice’s return to the stage is further highlighted by the release of their first new album in nearly eight years, ‘Hyperdrama,’ which dropped in April through Ed Banger/Because Music. The album has been met with enthusiasm from fans and critics alike, with Exclaim! praising it as “easily their most exciting work since Cross”. The EP, recorded alongside their hit album, UK Grim, is a collection of an additional five songs that see the pair continue to build on their successful year.

Made up of Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson, Sleaford Mods released UK Grim to wide critical acclaim, with the album finding chart and mainstream success. Now, the duo are looking to further capitalise on the wave they have been riding, gearing up to release a companion EP to UK Grim. The group also shared a new single from the impending EP, with “Big Pharma” expounding with a critical eye, the Covid pandemic and all of the information that, they allege, certain groups pushed forward with the aim of making capital gains. The song has been described by Sleaford Mods as lyrically punishing and brutally honest.


Speaking on the new single, Williams said, “‘Big Pharma’ was written in the opening chapters of autumn 2022 when Covid kicked in again. It carries a lot of the normal Sleaford Mods absurdism but also looks at the ongoing fascination with trying to find truths in information wholly pushed by very questionable people.” 

Further elaborating on the politically charged phrase that is the song’s title, Williams added, “Now, Big Pharma is more familiar as a term used by right wing and industrial groups trying to mask the financial aims of their arguments with some kind of critical thinking panache-type legitimacy. It just feels wrong. It feeds on hopelessness, widespread fear and generations of unfettered misinformation linked to the limited critical perception we as the masses are burdened with.”

The song is also accompanied by a new video, helmed by Sean Sears. The video features an animated format that matches the lyrical content of the track and recalls the fear and information overload that often characterised the panic surrounding the pandemic.

The single and EP announcement also comes amid the duo’s preparations for their upcoming UK and European tour, beginning in October and running through to the end of the year. The pair have also shared that their performance at London’s Alexandra Palace in December will feature special guests, Special Interest, John Grant and Stewart Lee.

Back in June, Sleaford Mods joined Brit-pop legends Blur for their two night Wembley Arena performances. Supporting the band on their first night, Sleaford Mods had the opportunity to promote their sound to scores of potential new listeners.

The Wrexham based band have had quite the year so far, with a support slot for YUNGBLUD during his arena tour, releasing single “Heartbreak Of The Century” back in February and finding the time to add a show at this summer’s Download Festival as well. But the band now seem poised to take the scene for their own with their new single and first ever headline show at the prestigious Alexandra Palace in March.

Speaking about the band’s alien-inspired new song, frontman Ben Barlow says the track was “literally as simple as: we should write a song about aliens called ‘Take Me With You.’ So conceptually and lyrically it was pretty straightforward. A few of us in the band are big UFO heads [particularly Seb Barlow, bass] so we had a lot of fun writing this one.”

The song is a playful and more light-hearted take on feeling fed up with the state of earthly situations that the band are noted for and Barlow has stated that the song owes a nod, at least in part, to Blink-182’s hit “Aliens Exist.” Singer for Blink-182 Tom Delonge has long been a vocal believer of UFOs and his company To The Stars made moderate news headlines after the recent US UFO hearings seem to confirm that UFOs, at least, may need to be taken seriously. Neck Deep promise however, that more meaningful songs are in the pipeline and will be released in due course.

It is perhaps surprising that, given the band’s more than ten years on the scene, Neck Deep have never headlined Alexandra Palace but that particular box will be ticked in March when the group finally play its hallowed halls as the top billed band. It is an indication at how much the band has grown in popularity over the years as the group get ready for what will surely be their biggest ever show.

Discussing the March 28th show, the band said, “it’s been a long time coming but we’re stoked to be finally headlining Ally Pally. We’ve always loved the venue, now its our turn for our biggest headline show. We’re expecting it to be the best Neck Deep show ever, and you wouldn’t want to miss that would ya?”

The track comes alongside B-side ‘Waterfall’ which is an earlier iteration of ‘Water’ with no vocals. The duo revealed that they hadn’t intended to release water this year, but told NME it “took on a life of its own” having worked on around 20 tracks recently. 

Speaking with NME, the duo (Andrew Ferguson and Matthew McBriar) explained their creative process and how ‘Water’ came to be. “Whatever we demo with, is almost never what we finish with,” McBriar said.“There was no outright idea when we started, but the original ‘Waterfall’ was born out of experimentation with an instrument called the MEGAfm,” they said, “It’s a new synth but has chips inside which formed the sounds of the SEGA Megadrive/Genesis games consoles. Weirdly it got more computer game sounding when we developed it into ‘Water’, speeding up and slowing down the lead line and LFOs to give that classic low-bit sound effect.” 

The pair have once again teamed up with Clara La San features on Isles tracks ‘Saku’ and ‘X’. “I just feel like Clara nails a little bit of every single one of them without being too much. She’s not too sugary, she’s not too lamenting, it’s sort of everything in between,” McBriar said. “Clara’s a machine, she’s honestly insane. It’s hard to believe that we get vocals from her sometimes and I’m like, ‘How was this not a year of hard work back and forth?’ She just sometimes sends it over and I’m like, ‘That’s perfect’.”

Despite this new single release, the pair don’t want fans to get too excited about a third album coming so soon. Ferguson has said that they are enjoying being more “fluid” with their production, outside of the structure of an album and McBriar echoed his comments saying: “Having done two [albums], it’s been amazing but we really craved that freedom of smaller bits of work.” “We want to spend a few years experimenting, changing up a lot, doing a lot of singles, and we’d like to be a bit more adventurous with some of the sound palettes and the layouts, and thinking about stuff a bit more abstract, and then inform that into a new album”

Bicep are heading off to Europe for an arena tour this month, stopping in the UK for two shows at London’s Alexandra Palace in early December. Both dates are sold out.

Kicking off this November, the tour will see Treays take on the usual list of O2 academies around the country, as well as a date at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace, all before culminating at Portsmouth’s Guildhall. It’s been 6 years since our last Jamie T album, and during that time he has seemingly started to lean into the fact that he can basically wait as long as he wants… and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. 15 years have passed since his debut Panic Prevention, and his influence has only expanded up until the genre-skipping escapade that was his last LP Trick. While Jamie T’s music will always come with his signature gruff swagger, the unpredictability of which particular influences peek through on each record is always enough to keep fans on their toes. To promote his new effort, T took to his socials and shared a video of himself reading a brief seemingly from his management, and then sharing a few snippets of songs. You can check out the clip below.

At the moment, we can only pre-order the new album. So, until July 29th you can satisfy any Jamie T needs with a copy of the 15th-anniversary edition of his debut. To commemorate the occasion, the 2CD deluxe edition also comes with a disc comprising of an unreleased gig, Panic Prevention Disco: live at the Scala from 2006, you can pick up a copy of that here.

Last month saw Treays play his first live show in over 5 years too. Held at London’s Subterania – an appropriately small venue for a comeback show – the show contained all the usual antics one can expect from a comeback show of this calibre: a few live rarities like “Sheila” from his 2007 debut, a bunch of live debuts including new single “The Old Style Raiders”, and a whole bunch of messing around. Treays also made an appearance at Glastonbury Festival over the weekend, clearly in the mood to warm himself up for this tour. Get tickets while you can.

Presumably titled ‘Skinty Fia’ the new single was shared to us via the band’s socials, in the form of a YouTube premiere, set for 6PM GMT on Tuesday 11th. This marks the first new studio recording since their sophomore album LP A Hero’s Death was released back in 2020, to solid critical and commercial acclaim. The popularity of the album lead to the band playing a huge headline show at London’s Alexandra Palace, where they would share the first of their first new material to the eagerly waiting fans. ‘I Love You’ begins nicely with its Johnny Marr-Esque jangly guitars, but by the end returns to the driving urgency the band have become known for. During an interview with NME back in September, the band’s bassist Connor Deegan III explains, “The third album is really good,” which is a very good start, “We all thought the songs were quite poppy. We thought we’d got this sound that was finally the sound that we wanted to get across the songs, which we thought was quite poppy.” This could be good news, or bad news depending on what camp you sit in. But, “We showed them to our manager, and he said, ‘Lads, this is the darkest shit you’ve ever written!’ And we were like, ‘What? What are you talking about? This bass melody is catchy, this vocal melody is catchy’. He was just like, ‘No, this is extremely dark’. So there you go!”.

So whichever side of the fence you sit on regarding their possibly-pop-driven new direction, we know that it’s due soon after it was first confirmed to be pretty much finished back in March last year after a Reddit AMA with the band revealed “We just finished mixing the next record last week, sounding really great. It’s funny because we were so swept up with touring when we were writing a hero’s death, I think we only got a sense of what that record really is now.”

The show has been released both as a triple LP and a film. The show itself runs just over 2 hours and 20 minutes – its absolutely crammed with New Order classics, Joy Division tunes and cuts from their latest studio LP ‘Music Completes’ (2015).

The deluxe vinyl edition is a thing of beauty, triple clear vinyl with art prints, CDs and a high quality booklet: all housed in a box-set bearing the albums artwork. ‘Education, Entertainment, Recreation (live)’ was the only UK show that New Order played in their tour that year.  New Order are so compellingly brilliant at bending genres and sounds to achieve a blend of house, dance, electronic, pop-rock that totally sets Ally Pally alight. Sumner stalks the stage throughout, in a pair of gleaming white Adidas Originals whilst they rattle through the hits.

It’s a rare insight into a brilliant gig: the band are totally on top form and command the venue like the seasoned veterans they are. The Blu-Ray recording is immaculate, they have totally brought you into Alexandra Palace. Of course, ‘Blue Monday’ and ‘Disorder’ go down an absolute treat with the crowd, but the closer, ‘Love Will Tear us Apart’ is a real highlight.

New Order are gearing up to play Manchester’s Heaton Park this year, which is bound to be a glorious homecoming. They are supported by local lads and upstarts in the genre, Working Men’s Club- their self titled debut garnered great reaction.

He is set to perform on Thursday 30th September 2021. Tickets are on general sale on 19th February, though fans can access to a pre-sale on 17th by pre-ordering his new album Evering Road. 

On his Instagram page, Grennan writes: “I can’t even explain to you how mad it is writing this but…. ALLY PALLY… dreamt of playing this venue from the first time I ever walked into it and it’s now happening!!!! This is gunna go off and we’ve all missed live shows so come join me and my dreams because I want you all there with me!” 

Fans took to social media to voice their excitement about the gig.

Evering Road will be Grennan’s second album, after the release of Lighting Matches in 2018. The new LP is due to be released on 5th March, and follows singles This Is the Place, Amen, Something Better and Little Bit Of Love, which is Radio X’s Record of the Week. 

This announcement follows a virtual concert from Grennan last week, which faced an hour-long delay due to the livestream crashing after 27,000 fans tried to watch. 

Grennan rose to fame after featuring on single All Goes Wrong by Chase and Status in 2016. He has since appeared on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and Later… with Jools Holland.

The fund aims to help struggling venues across the UK keep there doors open, after the massive economic hits that have occurred due to the ongoing global pandemic. The recent round of funding makes the total donations invested to date reach up to £1 billion.

Of the list of venues, many are in London based, with venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Alexandra Palace, the Southbank Centre, the English National Opera, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the National Theatre receiving a collected £165million in low-interest repayable finance. However, many Northern venues have also received funding, with venues such as The Factory in Manchester receiving £21 million, Nottingham’s Broadway receiving £144,000, and the Turner Contemporary in Margate receiving £264,000.

UK culture minister, Oliver Dowden spoke positively about the donations, stating that this portion of funding was withheld initially to help health officials assess “changing public health picture. This government promised it would be here for culture, and today’s announcement is proof we’ve kept our word.” Dowden said in a statement.

“The £1 billion invested so far through the Culture Recovery Fund has protected tens of thousands of jobs at cultural organisations across the UK, with more support still to come through a second round of applications. Today we’re extending a huge helping hand to the crown jewels of UK culture, so that they can continue to inspire future generations all around the world.”
