The re-release will be made of two editions with the 1LP pressed on white vinyl and including bonus track ‘Take My Temperature’. The 2LP will feature 15 additional tracks including a selection of B-Sides and CD single bonus tracks as well as 2 previously unreleased songs, exclusive to the format.

Alongside the original album, the 3CD set will have 40 added tracks which will include demo recordings, remixes, radio sessions and live tracks.

‘Employment’ which came out in 2005, was the album to bring songs such as ‘I Predict A Riot’, ‘Oh My God’ and ‘Everyday I Love You Less And Less’ to the forefront. The album was remastered at iconic Abbey Road Studios, the band commented: “20 years ago, a brand-new song by a brand-new band was released. ‘I Predict A Riot’ was the start of something really special for some musicians from Leeds. And the album that followed, ‘Employment’, changed our lives and has soundtracked the lives of millions of others since 2005. In 2025 we are saluting 20 years of that album and everyone is invited. Come celebrate the 2000’s, loving everything less and less and stripey blazers taking over the world..”

Two years ago, on the 18th anniversary of the release, singer Ricky shared with Virgin Radio: “I mean, I don’t think I’ve changed too much. I do get a Hello Fresh box, and I brush my teeth at least twice a day, but apart from that, I haven’t changed at all. I promise you that!”

‘Employment’ peaked at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart. It spent over 17 months in the Official Top 40 and was eventually certified 7× Platinum.

Released just after Drake’s 21st birthday, his solo effort was produced by Joe Boyd, who had already worked with Pink Floyd, and would go on to produce work by Toots & The Maytals, R.E.M., and Billy Bragg. ‘Five Leaves Left’ went largely unnoticed by the masses during Drake’s lifetime, though is now recognised for its emotional honesty, as well as its delicate string arrangements.  

The collection is split across four discs. The first disc includes Drake’s first Sound Techniques sessions, also known as the Beverley Martyn demo, and was at the centre of a legal row in 2014 over ownership rights. The auction guide at the time said that Drake’s “guitar playing is stronger, more baroque, with the voice smoother and more resonant than the highly produced released versions”. The second disc includes what is being called the “Paul de Rivaz Reel”, featuring recordings from Drake’s time at university, and was only discovered during the 9-year ‘Making of…’ project.

The original album’s engineer, John Wood, has been involved in the remastering process, and the sequence of the album has been deliberate. Where one Reddit user bemoaned two or three versions of songs being placed one after another, another defended the order, arguing that it allows for listeners to hear the creative process and the evolution of songs.

 Included in the box set is a 60-page book written by Neil Storey and Richard Morton-Jack which details the story behind Drake’s debut, and the efforts involved in this collection. Storey has defended the release against accusations of recycled material and price gouging, taking to the comments section of Super Deluxe Edition to tell detractors: “I began researching this project over nine years ago and to be tarred with a brush which suggests rip-off shows utter disrespect for Nick, his music and those of us who’ve worked as hard as we have to bring this out into the open.”

At the time of its release in 1969, ‘Five Leaves Left’ received a mixed reception. Drake’s talent was clear for all to see, but reviewers said that his lyrics lacked urgency and directness. The album’s reputation has grown significantly in the five decades since its release, and modern critics have been far more generous in their reviews, with Ian MacDonald calling it “cool and shady amid the celebratory sunshine in the late Sixties”.

Drake would release two more albums in his short career before passing away in 1974 aged 26. Sadly, he would never see how influential his work would become, having been cited as an inspiration by Kate Bush, Robert Smith, George Michael, and many more across a range of musical styles.

 ‘The Making of Five Leaves Left’ is retailing at £94.99 for the 4LP version, and £89.99 for the 4CD version, if bought through the Island Records site. It is the most comprehensive collection of Drake’s earliest works, and will prove to be a treasure trove of one of music’s most enigmatic characters. The album will be released on 25 July.

 Hawley made the announcement on social media, and quickly followed it up with an appearance on BBC Radio 6’s Lauren Laverne Show on 4 March. The musician revealed that he was initially reluctant to celebrate the anniversary, preferring to look forward to upcoming projects, but he acknowledged the album’s impact on his career. “That record changed everything for me, it was a game-changer. When we made that, it was the last roll of the dice.”  

Named after a well-known meeting spot in Sheffield, ‘Coles Corner’ was released in 2005 and received critical acclaim. The album currently holds a score of 85 on Metacritic, and reviews have compared Hawley to a variety of 60s figures, including Scott Walker and Roy Orbison. The record earned Hawley a Mercury Prize nomination, with the award eventually going to the Arctic Monkeys, prompting frontman and fellow Sheffielder Alex Turner to say, “somebody call 999, Richard Hawley’s been robbed.”

In a rare moment of reflection, Hawley revealed the troubled circumstances that the album emerged from. “I had no record deal at all. We were with Setanta Records, who had backed me since the beginning, but that had ended. I was marooned, and at 34 years old, like most rock stars, it’s not a good time to start a career. There was no money, it was looking bleak.” A friend loaned him £10,000 to record the album, “…and I thought now is the time to make the record you’ve always wanted to make. Without any compromise. It’s sink or swim.”

  The reissue will be available on both CD and vinyl, with the item listing revealing a second disc of 18 bonus tracks, including acoustic and live versions of songs from ‘Coles Corner’. Physical copies of the album are available to preorder on Hawley’s Dig! store, and fans who order before 3pm on 10 March will gain access to a presale for the tour.  

Alongside the York show, Hawley has confirmed shows in Boston, Portmeirion, Blackpool, Margate, Worthing, and Weston-super-Mare. Hawley also hinted that more dates will follow, using his BBC interview to tell fans to wait before booking shows on the other side of the country. “Each gig will be unique and special… Each show will be all over the country in places off the beaten track.”

The 58-year-old is synonymous with the Steel City, often using Sheffield as a backdrop for his songs. Speaking about the role it plays in his music, he said, “If you write about things you know, you have authority by living through it. I see beauty in the very simple things of everyday life and always have.”   

The announcement of the reissue and tour have been met with excitement from his devoted fanbase. One X user wrote: “What an album this is. Pre-ordered the [limited] vinyl and 2 CD edition, and tickets for York booked this morning. Already can’t wait.”

With only one appearance in his native city in the past 18 months, hopes are high that Hawley will make a stop in the South Yorkshire city on the tour. Further dates are expected to be announced following the presale. Tickets are not available for purchase yet.

The brand new issue is set to be released later this month on Friday February 28, the same date the original album was released back in 2000. The album will be available on a limited-edition vinyl in a silver LP, and on official store-exclusive blue and purple marble LP.

The album reissue will mark the band’s first release since 2008 with their last album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’.

‘Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants’ was released during a pivotal time for the brothers as it was their first release under their own label Big Brother Recordings LTD. The label was launched in 2000 after the sudden closure of Oasis’ label Creation Records.

To celebrate the re-release as well as the anniversary of the album’s first single ‘Go Let It Out’ on February 7, the Mancunian band surprised their fans with a brand new lyric video for the occasion.

The album was a huge step for Oasis as it was their first experimentation with more modern-psychedelic rock-influenced sound, something new for the piece.

The band’s work reached No.1 in the UK Album Chart, selling over 310,000 copies in just its first week out. It has now been certified double platinum whilst having sold over 200,000 copies in the US. The LP will also feature some of the group’s most iconic songs such as ‘F***in’ In The Bushes’, ‘Where Did It All Go Wrong?’ and ‘Gas Panic’.

Meanwhile, the Gallaghers are getting ready to go back on tour with Oasis Live ’25, giving millions of fans what they have been eagerly waiting for since 2009. Indeed, the band was the UK’s most searched for artist in 2024 after announcing they had buried the hatchet and would reunite the band to hit the road in 2025.

Their tour will include seven sold-out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium, five homecoming shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park, and will include dates in Ireland, Australia, Japan, North Korea, North America and South America.

The countdown is set on the famous band’s website to show how many days are left before they make history again.

Liam announced his plans to celebrate the Definitely Maybe anniversary earlier this year, promising to play the album in full in its original order. He took to Twitter, sharing his plans to play in “biblical venues” to honour the album.

When officially announcing the tour, Liam said, “I’m bouncing around the house to announce the ‘Definitely Maybe’ Tour. The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn’t be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together LG x.” This week, a fan asked if he planned to play any solo material to close the show to which Liam replied, “no solo stuffs.”

Liam has been regularly dropping hints about what fans can expect from the tour, promising B-side performances. Taking to Twitter once again, Liam shared his plans to perform Oasis’ cover version of “I Am The Walrus” by The Beatles amongst other unexpected tracks.

Noel Gallagher has also shared his plans to celebrate Definitely Maybe‘s 30th anniversary, confirming that the album will be reissued. The reissue will include tracks that were previously lost, with Noel sharing, “In the Sony archives we’ve found tapes dating to those sessions. We thought they were lost, but they were mislabelled. They are wonderful versions of those songs, some acoustic versions.”

Noel has denied the possibility of an Oasis reunion however, saying, “There won’t be a tour. We won’t come back to play them together.”

In Utero was an instant critical and commercial success, debuting at No.1 on the UK Albums Chart and No.1 on the US Billboard 200. The album included iconic tracks such as “Heart-Shaped Box,” “Dumb” and “Rape Me.” To celebrate its 30th anniversary, a special edition reissue of the album was released last week.

Speaking on the album’s impact, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic said, “When you listen to it, it goes somewhere. It’s dark, it’s beautiful, it’s all points in between. It’s bittersweet. We recorded it in about a week and a few of the songs were the first take. We were well-rehearsed and loved playing together. That was our glue as a band. We played live and it was live to tape.”

Novoselic continued, “It’s amazing what can happen when three people with instruments get together. You could make so much sound in a way that captures the imagination. That’s the beauty of music: you invite people in. The record can be pretty, but it can also be dark. Going back to this record, I was just reminded of our humanity as a group. There were a lot of different statements on there and that’s what you get: the post-’Nevermind’ Nirvana, after becoming a world-famous band.”

The 30th anniversary reissue of In Utero has been released in several formats, including a limited-edition eight LP super deluxe box set, a five CD super deluxe box set and a digital super deluxe edition, amongst others.

Novoselic shared his thoughts on the reissue, saying, “This one’s got a lot of cool things like backstage passes and little things you can hold, like The Who’s ‘Live At Leeds’ record.”

He continued, “I’m excited about the live shows on there, because they used AI. We took the digital audio tapes from the soundboard in Rome, Seattle and Los Angeles, then the AI can separate all the instruments and we got a really good mix out of it.”

This will be the final song from the Beatles, as the track was created by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr with John Lennon and George Harrison being incorporated with the help of AI software, via using isolated demo tracks. The song was mentioned by both McCartney and Starr across the year, and its release was hinted earlier this week with projection images of cassettes across important landmarks related to the band in Liverpool like the Cavern Club and Strawberry Fields.

The track ‘Now and Then’, was first wrote by John Lennon in the late 1970’s, with a demo recorded with just piano and vocals from Lennon in his New York home. The recording was given to McCartney, Starr and Harrison in 1994, alongside already released demo recordings: ‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’, tracks that were released in the mid 1990’s as part of The Beatles Anthology.

Technological limitations at the time meant that the band couldn’t build upon the demo mix of ‘Now and Then’ as they did with the other songs, because they couldn’t find a way to separate Lennon’s piano and vocals to create a clear mix, something which was able to be achieved with modern day AI technology. George Harrison’s widow, Olivia commented on this, saying: “Back in 1995, after several days in the studio working on the track, George felt the technical issues with the demo were insurmountable and concluded that it was not possible to finish the track to a high enough standard”.

Paul McCartney commented on the new recording saying: “It’s quite emotional. And we all play on it, it’s a genuine Beatles recording. In 2023 to still be working on Beatles music, and about to release a new song the public haven’t heard, I think it’s an exciting thing.” Ringo Starr also added: “It was the closest we’ll ever come to having him back in the room so it was very emotional for all of us. It was like John was there, you know. It’s far out.”

The creation of the new song was inspired by the AI audio technology used in the Peter Jackson ‘Get Back’ documentary, which released in 2021 as the technology was able to isolate conversations from videos of recording sessions of Let It Be. The band used the technology to remix Revolver in 2022, before deciding to use the technology to revisit ‘Now and Then’.

The Red and Blue compilation albums will also be reissued and remixed the following week on November 10th, with 21 tracks being newly added, 9 on Blue and 12 on Red. This includes newly mixed tracks from singles and albums that had not been previously remixed across the past 6 years with tracks like ‘Help!’ from Help!, ‘Nowhere Man’ from Rubber Soul and ‘Hey Bulldog’ from Yellow Submarine Soundtrack, just to name a few.

The Tennessee trio didn’t keep fans waiting long, as they announced a companion album to their 6th LP This Is Why, released earlier this year on February 10th, that will feature remixes, reworked and rewritten tracks, as well as some collaborations and an unreleased demo.

Earlier today, Paramore revealed the track list for their upcoming release, which showed a variety of artists taking on a song from the album and making it their own. Artists featuring on Re: This Is Why include UK acts such as Wet Leg, Foals and The xx singer Romy.

The band took to Twitter to share “We’ve long wanted to recognize the connection we have with some of the artists who’ve influenced us as a band and/or who have cited our band as an influence. Re: This Is Why is almost a remix album. Some of the songs have been remixed sort of classically, while others were reworked or rewritten. It’s incredible to hear all our worlds colliding. Oxford based band Foals, who joined Paramore on their North American tour earlier this year, are taking on the album’s title track. Back in 2022, Paramore front-woman Hayley Williams praised the English band on an episode of her podcast Everything Is Emo, and spoke of their evolution.

Williams stated “I really respect this band’s journey and how they continue to evolve. I think it takes a lot of guts too. I think of every time we’ve gone home to write a new album, or we have an album in the can but haven’t presented it to the world, it’s a really scary feeling. It can be nerve-wracking to present yourself in a new way and essentially, grow in front of the world. Any time a band re-emerges with a new picture, a new frame of mind, I think it’s courageous and cool and I’m really enjoying their evolution.”

Re: This Is Why will be released this Friday (October 6th).

The Scottish singer announced in July that she would be releasing some solo music and heading out on tour, however, there was no indication of when we could expect to hear any new music.

The pop band’s lead singer didn’t keep fans waiting for long, as on August 11th , she revealed that her first single “Are You Awake?” would be with us in September.

Over the weekend, Mayberry dropped the highly anticipated single, as well as a music video for the song.

“Are You Awake?” was written by Mayberry and Canadian singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr, who has collaborated on songwriting with other UK artists such as Adele and Niall Horan.

The piano-led ballad is a slight leap from the energetic synth-pop we have come to expect from CHVRCHES, and in a recent press release, Lauren shared that “I was thinking a lot about loneliness and homesickness, and as soon as Tobias started playing the chords, the lyrics and melody came to me really quickly. I finished the song with my friend Matthew Koma, who really understood what I was trying to say.”

“For a long time, I couldn’t imagine doing anything outside of CHVRCHES but I think some things that I needed to write had to be done from purely my own point of view. I never really thought I’d write a piano ballad, or a solo album full stop, so life really is full of surprises. I am really looking forward to this chapter and can’t wait for people to hear more of the music.”

Though Lauren is venturing out on her own, her career with CHVRCHES is far from over. The trio announced last month that in celebration of the 10 year anniversary of their debut album, The Bones Of What You Believe, they would be releasing a re-issue of their 2013 LP on October 13th. The re-issue of the album will include 4 previously unheard tracks, as well as 5 live recordings. The band has given fans a taste of what’s to come by releasing “Manhattan”, one of the unheard songs that didn’t make it onto the album’s original release.

The news was shared via Facebook, with the remaining members writing, “Sorry to be the bearer of such sad news but both Jonny Quinn and Paul Wilson have decided to leave Snow Patrol. We are heartbroken they have decided to leave us but we wish them nothing but happiness, success, joy, compassion and everything they want in all their future endeavours.”

The band went on to write individual posts dedicated to Jonny Quinn and Paul Wilson in order to give them a “proper and individual send off.”

Speaking on drummer Jonny Quinn, the band wrote, “Early on it was clear he was more than a drummer.”

They went on to celebrate his 26 years in the band, writing, “His drumming has at times taken on legendary status. His nickname was after all ‘thunderclap’ because he hit the snare drum so hard he was prone to smash right through the drumskin.”

The band shared their gratitude for his time with Snow Patrol, concluding, “We saw the world together, many times. From starting out in the 90s with nothing to what we have become and what we have had the privilege of seeing on tour and in SP’s life together is an honour and one we are all so glad we shared with Jonny.“

In tribute to their bassist Paul Wilson, the band wrote, “He had no fear. It was thrilling to watch.”

They continued, “He played every instrument so bass was maybe a little restrictive for his many talents but we are eternally grateful to him that he did, and did so epically. He has a big beautiful heart and is a deep thinker, and he more than all of us would explore the cities we found ourselves in on tour.”

Having celebrated Wilson’s career with Snow Patrol since 2005, the band concluded, “Thank you for all the awesome times you’ve given us and shared with us Pabs.”

The remaining members, Gary Lightbody, Nathan Connolly and Johnny McDaid confirmed that their 8th studio album is still set for release next year, despite these changes.

Snow Patrol are set to continue on as a trio and plan to share more information on their upcoming album release in due course. In their initial Facebook post that broke the news, they wrote, “More news of that will come at an appropriate time, for now we want to pay homage and give gratitude for all Jonny and Pablo have given us and shared with us these past decades.”

This news broke just weeks after the band celebrated the 20th anniversary of their breakout album, The Final Straw.
