The Cambridge-born performer won for Best Dance/Electronic Album for her acclaimed club album Brat, Best Dance/Pop Song for the album’s lead single ‘Von Dutch’ and Best Recording Album Package. The prizes were amongst the first awards handed out at the Grammy’s Premiere Ceremony which precedes the main event of the night.

Charli’s collaborator Finn Keane took to the stage to thank the singer for being “an amazing collaborator” and how thankful they all are that the world is finally catching up to what the Cambridgeshire-songwriter can do.

The ‘Apple’ performer took the celebration to her Instagram to thank her fans, stating she hopes she made them proud as she shared a carousel of pictures from the ceremony including her red carpet look, snapshots alongside fiancé George Daniels and close friend Troye Sivan and most importantly, her reaction to winning Best Dance/Pop Song for ‘Von Dutch’.

Having been nominated seven times, the 32-year-old songstress became the Recording Academy’s second-most nominated artist as well as a member of the seven-nods club this year, alongside artists such as Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish. In conversation with W Magazine, the artist opened up about how the Academy’s recognition of her work came as a surprise. Charli said: “My vibe is just wanting to have a good time. Let’s be real, I wasn’t even on the Grammys’ radar last year, so it’s not something I ever expected. The thing is, wherever I am becomes fun anyway, so I’m sure I’ll figure it out.”

The now Grammy-winning singer delivered the final performance of the night with ‘Von Dutch’ and ‘Guess’. She threw a very fitting party on stage accompanied by friends The Dare, Alex Consani, Gabriette and Julia Fox. Her performance started outside of the Crypto.com Arena and followed XCX strutting inside the venue joined by an entourage of partygoers recreating a club scene. In the back, a note on-screen read: “All unworn garments featured in Charli XCX’s #GRAMMYs performance will be donated to domestic violence survivors.”. The performance was praised by many and fans were amazed by the number thrown by Charli.

This will be the follow up to her acclaimed debut in 2018, ‘Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides’ and according to her family was close to completion when SOPHIE passed away in 2021 and has been completed by the Scottish artist’s family and close friends and close collaborators such as her studio manager and co-producer Benny Long. The first preview of the project was released on the 24th of June and is titled ‘Reason Why’, and it features Kim Petras and BC Kingdom and was produced by Benny Long.

In a statement SOPHIE’s family has said that “When we, Sophie’s family, took our first steps towards bringing this project to fruition we contacted the dear friends with whom she envisioned the album. We wrote, “We have been finding comfort in the music Sophie left us, it is a gift that we truly cherish as we try to find a way forward, with Sophie forever at the centre of our worlds.”

They continued telling us that “Sophie didn’t often speak publicly of her private life, preferring to put everything she wanted to articulate in her music. It feels only right to share with the world the music she hoped to release, in the belief that we can all connect with her in this, the form she loved most.”

They also said that “This album has always told the story of Sophie’s musical journey, a cacophony of skill and creative vision eclipsing time and genre.” and that this work emphasises “contradictions of sound and material, Sophie’s work supersedes the pure aural to create the dimension she dreamed of.”

They concluded that “Sophie gave all of herself to her music. It’s here that she can always be found.”

SOPHIE was 34 when she died in a tragic accident when she fell from a hotel rooftop in Athens, Greece in January 2021.

Born in Glasgow, SOPHIE initially rose to prominence as a producer as part of the pop production team PC Music. She worked with superstars including Madonna, Diplo, Petras and Charli XCX. She found her own audience with her debut single ‘Nothing More to Say’, which she released in 2013 and followed up with ‘Bipp’ and ‘Lemonade’. She released her debut album, ‘Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-insides’ to critical acclaim in 2018 and this saw her nominated for the Grammy for best dance/electronic album. This new album is Headie One’s first solo record in three years, and follows ‘Too Loyal for My Own Good’, released in 2021. Since then, he has released two albums in collaboration with other artists, ‘No Borders: European Compilation Project’ with artists such as Gazo, Luciano, Shiva, and Hamza, alongside ‘STRENGTH TO STRENGTH’, which he produced with K-trap.

Recently, Headie One released a sneak peek of the upcoming album, as he released ‘Tipsy’, featuring Aitch. So far, he has also released three other songs from his new album, including: ‘Martin’s Sofa’, ‘I Still Know Better’, and ‘Cry No More’ featuring Stormzy and Tay Keith. The anticipation for his new album is consistently rising, as he also released a music video for ‘Tipsy’, which you can watch below.

In addition to his new album, he also recently announced a European and his first ever Australian tour, that will take him to Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Manchester, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Paris, Antwerp, Cologne, Frankfert, Munich, Berlin, and Zurich this October and November, and next February and March. His new album, is set to be an exciting one, as his 2020 album, ‘EDNA’, made history as it was the first drill album to top the UK charts, leaving the possibilities for his new album endless. The success of his music has lead to Headie One being considered a pioneer of UK drill music, and he is part of OFB, that stands for Original Farmer Boys and is a group made up of prominent drill artists from Tottenham, such as Bandokay, and Double Lz.

When talking to NME about his new album, he assured fans that “it’s the last one but it’s not the last one you know?”, so they can rest assured that the album’s name does not reflect the end of his career. He also told NME that “this album is about the place we come from, the negative things that happened and that are still in effect today so I’m giving a lot of home truths in this one”, exciting fans with the intimacy of his new album, which you can pre-order here.
