As well as performing her own shows in a series of intimate venues, the 20-year-old is also set to perform at next year’s Reading Festival, which was recently criticised for its poor gender equality. Beabadoobee is one of the very few female performers on its 2021 line up.

Speaking to NME about Fake It Flowers, the artist said ‘Lyrically, there’s just so much more to reflect on, and with the sound, I guess, naturally after playing arenas with The 1975, I wanted to make songs that would fill those rooms. I wanted to sound powerful’; she says she even ‘went proper screamo’ for one of the tracks. The star is very pleased with how the record turned out: ‘I’m mostly just proud of my band and my producer, because they made this exactly as it sounded in my head… Every time I give them a song, they’re like, ‘yep, I know what to do’, which is the most satisfying, amazing feeling’.

On the 29th July, Caribou sadly announced the postponement of his upcoming UK and Paris tour. Unfortunately, for the second time. The Canadian artist was set to deliver a string of live performances March through April of this year, but adhered to necessary proportions amidst coronavirus health concerns, and pushed back the dates back to September of this year.

However, as the months wore on and the dreaded coronavirus worsened, Caribou had no choice but to be responsible and postpone his shows further. Caribou, real name Dan Snaith, will pick up the UK tour plans next year instead. Other 2021 performances confirmed for Caribou include music festivals Primavera Sound in Barcelona, BBK Lives in Bilbao, also in Spain, and NOS Alive in Portugal, all of which are scheduled for next summer.

Caribou released the news to their official Twitter account yesterday, to the great dismay of the musician’s expansive fanbase. The Odessa composer confirmed the last thing that his devoted fans wanted to hear, writing in a heartfelt statement that “unfortunately it’s clear we have to reschedule our UK + Paris tour dates again. Caribou continued on to say that: “Like all of you, we want nothing more than to gather and enjoy live music again, but clearly we have to wait until it’s safe to do so.” One fortunate piece of news, though, is tickets previously purchased by fans will remain valid for Caribou’s 2021 tour and will roll over to next year free of charge.

Last month, Caribou revealed some fresh new remixes of their hit tracks, Never Come Back and Sister. Mixed by the talented electronic musician, Floating Points, the Rabbit Hole hitmaker shared the news with his 44,000 Instagram followers. Featuring animated designs by graphic designer Matthew Cooper, colourful shapes move to Caribou in a hypnotic fashion. Caribou wrote on the 30th June: “Out now: not one, but two amazing remixes from Sam @floatingpoints.” Obtaining over 10,000 likes and views, the post was met with an excited response from fans.

A composer, recording artist and producer, sonic triple threat Caribou burst on the scene in 2001 with their memorable debut album, Start Breaking My Heart. Snaith initially began his career under the moniker Manitoba, but following a lawsuit, changed from Manitoba to their current name.

Since then, the production wizard has put out six sensational studio albums, their most recent being Suddenly, that dropped February of this year. Consisting of encapsulating synthes and soft vocals with a psychedelic twist, the twelve-track record is a calming body of work that, yet it still contains that Caribou kick. Containing widely different tracks like Home, New Jade and Filtered Grand Piano Suddenly is a divergent new spin on an artist that always delivers.

Dates for Caribou’s 2021 UK and Paris tour are as follows:

06/05/2021 – L’Olympia – Paris – France
08/05 – The Invisible Wind Factory – Liverpool
