With a name that belies his origins, Paolo has come a long way from the small town of Paisley in Scotland where he grew up. Despite now being a chart-topping troubadour and national favourite, the singer was once expected to follow his fathers footsteps into the family fish and chip shop business, before being encouraged to sing by his music loving grandfather and a teacher from his school who recognised his gift.

After three top 10 albums, two of which going to number 1, Paolo is now in the luxurious position of being able to return after an 8 year hiatus in the knowledge that his stadium and arena tour will sell out in seconds despite the layoff period. In this respect, he seems to have gained a similar allure and shelf life to that of Adele, if somewhat more reserved, in that he always seems to be relevant no matter where the UK’s zeitgeist wanders. A soul voice like no other, he has a transportive sound that is both nostalgic and current, a sonic niche that sounds effortless to the masses, but is in reality incredibly difficult to capture authentically. His new single “Through The Echoes” is a great example of this, straddling the breadth of his impressive vocal range, Paolo belts out a rousing chorus sure to blow the rafters off the venues he is due to play in the coming months. JLS aka Jack The Lad Swing’s vocal lineup includes Ashton Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Oritse Williams and JB (Jonathan Benjamin) Gill. The band entered the fifth series of X-Factor in 2008 and were runners up following Alexandra Burke’s win.

Following the competition, the band were signed to Epic Records and released singles “Beat Again” and “Everybody In Love” with both singles hitting the number one spot in the UK Official Singles Charts. Success continued with a further four number one singles and the release of the band’s debut album JLS released on November 9th 2009 which sold 1 million copies.

The band then went on to release albums, Outta This World (2010), Jukebox (2011), and Evolution (2012), as well as win a Mobo Award for Best Single for “Beat Again” and a Mobo Award for Best Newcomer in 2009.

The band further went on to win 2 Brit Award’s for British Breakthrough and Best Single for their single “Beat Again”. and Best Newcomer in 2010. The band are known for popular singles “The Club Is Alive” and “She Makes Me Wanna”.

On April 23rd 2013 the band announced their split, released the album Goodbye- The Greatest Hits and embarked on a farewell tour. The band bowed out for the last date of their tour at the 02 Arena in London on December 22nd 2013. Band members Merrygold, Humes, Williams and Gill went on to pursue solo projects following the band’s split with Merrygold, Humes and Gill also having children.

It was then reported in November 2019 that the band were to reunite. Confirmation of a reunion arrived on February 12th 2020 and the band then announced that they were to embark on a reunion tour known as The Beat Again Tour. Another announcement followed in March 2020 that the band had signed to BMG and were set to release new music.

The band’s plans were placed on hold due to the Covid 19 Pandemic and they have now expressed their happiness to finally be able to release new music and have also rescheduled their postponed reunion tour. The band have not been able to release new music for 8 years with a further delay caused by the Covid 19 Pandemic following their reunion announcement in 2020. 

This is all set to change tomorrow with the release of their new single “Eternal Love” penned by Humes and Ed Sheeran and it seems a new album is also on the way. Williams stated “We’re putting together an album and a couple of singles. It feels like the time is right” Humes added “We have got three, possibly four, tracks already down”

The band have not yet announced news for an album release. The band are working with Wayne Hector for their new material and look set to ignite the charts once more with their new single “Eternal Love”.

The track encompasses everything that is so great about the band: their pub–punk, in your face, “we don’t care what you think” attitude is at the forefront. The track opens with a lap steel/slide guitar section that is straight out of the Keith Richards playbook before the band launch into their no-holds-barred raucous punk track. Frontman Charlie Manning’s lyrics explore themes of inequality and rage against systematic injustice with a fury that puts you firmly in his shoes.

The track is out now on streaming services, but it is getting a vinyl release next month. A super-limited 7” single is out for preorder now, which includes b-side ‘Life’s Lemons’. Chubby & co signed to Partisan records following their debut, making them contemporaries with legends of the post–punk revival scene IDLES and Fontaines DC, as well as a variety of other esteemed acts.

The five–piece have also announced a full on UK tour, due to take place in November. The band are due to take to the road this winter, covering the length and breadth of the country, taking in a variety of venues that hold legendary status amongst independent music fans. The extensive tour takes them into Ireland and some exceptional venues that really capture the piss and vinegar punk spirit.

Chubby And The Gang are a properly exciting band who embody everything that I love about punk- they’re angry at the state of the world and they’re going to write some balls to the wall, brilliantly ferocious songs about it. If ‘Speed Kills’ was anything to go by, then whatever this group bring out next is going to be massive: keep your eye on Chubby & co because they’re bound to explode.

Faith No More recently launched an exclusive merch line to support their road workers who lost wages due to cancelled shows during the coronavirus pandemic. Bassist Billy Gould said: “There’s been plenty of attention about the collapse of the concert industry, how it has been impacting musicians, artists, agents… but very little coverage has focused on the impact it’s made on a crucial element of live music and touring: the crew. Without a band’s crew, the show does not go on; yet, in light of the recent postponements, they have been left with few options to support themselves, or their families.” Speaking of family, Gould explains that Faith No More is “more than the five musicians you see on stage.” It’s “larger family, an ecosystem that includes backline, a production manager, lighting, sound and tour management.”

In his heartwarming statement, the guitarist shows how hard the virus hit the roadworking crew, who’s income relies on live shows: “We had an entire summer of touring booked – and now, as a result of this pandemic, all of our crew have been put into a seriously vulnerable financial position. We have been working with these folks for years, and we feel very close to them. Since shows are not an option, we are trying to do what we can to offset this unfortunate turn of events with a special merch sale.”

Fans were already expecting the statement after the band announced that they had to reschedule their first Australia and New Zealand tour since 1997, as well as their planned North American summer tour.

Beginning on May 22nd next year, in Leipzig, Germany, the band’s upcoming tour will be immense, with months of shows taking them all the way through to August 7th, finishing in Ostend, Belgium. This more than makes up for the heartbreak with which fans were afflicted after the tour-opening show was due to have taken place next week in Klagenfurt, Austria. Happily, for those of us off the European mainland, there are three UK tours to keep our eyes on.

With all that to look forward to, what’s in store for the near-distant future? Well, you’re in luck, because the band of East Berlin metalheads very kindly took to Facebook earlier this year to announce the DVD launch of their infamous Live aus Berlin concert. Though there is currently an excerpt of the concert available online, this new DVD release is set to include, in its entirety, the previously censored performance of Bück Dich, which saw the band members simulate anal sex on-stage using a water-squirting dildo.

Racy stuff, indeed. Though it shouldn’t be too surprising when you translate the song’s title into English: “bend over.” What else could you expect?

The 18-year old kicked off the Where Do We Go? world tour in Miami earlier this year but had to pull out the remaining dates in March. Fans will get an updated schedule as soon as new dates are finalized, a statement on the singer’s Twitter account announced. All tickets for the 2020 tour “will be honoured accordingly.” The UK leg was supposed to begin on July 21 with three shows at Manchester Arena, before playing four shows at London’s O2 Arena. Those shows also would have concluded the European leg of Eilish’s world tour.

The singer recently revealed that she’s been spending lockdown working on new music with her brother Finneas O’Connell. In an facetime interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 she confessed that she’s been “fully uninspired for the first three weeks of [quarantine]”, admitting that she “was not about to make music.” But that changed once she started writing with her brother: “It kind of hit a couple weeks ago, actually. So we’ve been in the studio, which just means Finneas’ basement, basically”, she explains. “We wrote a whole song in its entirety, an entire song, which is kind of rare for us to just write a whole song in one”, the singer says. “I really love it. It was exactly what I needed to say when we wrote it. It was like I don’t know. I can’t tell time anymore. But we’ve been doing a lot of stuff. We’re trying to finish this one that I’m not going to say. Yeah, we got some stuff coming.”

Who knows, with the European leg of the Where Do We Go? tour being postponed, we might get to hear those new songs live.

This announcement comes soon after the completion of a short UK tour throughout November, with performances in his hometown of Nottingham (Rock City), Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom, the Leeds 02 Academy and lastly, Manchester Academy.

Jake also released his new single ‘Kiss Like The Sun’, a track that Annie Mac named as her Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1. Jake, known for songs such as ‘Be Someone’, (a collaboration with Camelphat) and ‘Lightning Bolt’ is currently in the process of putting together his fifth album, a collaboration with Andrew Watt, at the helm of production work, responsible for working with artists Post Malone and Cardi B.

Regarding Andrew Watt, Jake said, “I love working with Andrew Watt and I’m really pleased with the sound of this track. I wanted to write something that was fun and a bit light-hearted.”

In February and March 2018, Bugg undertook a lengthy UK & Ireland Acoustic Tour. He played venues including Ulster Hall in Belfast, the London Palladium and Manchester’s Albert Hall.

drownedinsound reviewed Jake’s fourth album ‘Hearts That Strain’, to which they gave the record a mixed review. Harriet Linnell said, “Jake Bugg used to make albums which were gritty and miserable (in the best kind of way), and while of course artists’ sounds change, it is hard not to wish that the sharp, insightful lyrics and earworm riffs he used to reel off would make a comeback.”

The band have won an Ivor Novello Award with band member Jazzie B being awarded an OBE in 2008 for his services to music, and together they have sold in excess of 10 million albums worldwide. Jammie B said of the upcoming tour, “Who would have thought that after thirty-odd years later we’d still be on the road with this thing? It’s been a helluva journey – literally! – and I feel truly blessed. Now, I’m looking forward to going back to some of the familiar venues where we’ve made a lot of friends.”

He also added. “I’m just as pumped about testing out places we’ve never been before but I’m seriously excited about playing the Royal Albert Hall. I want to thank to the fullness everybody who’s given their support up until now, and I’ll see you along the way – a happy face, a thumpin’ bass for a lovin’ race.”

Adam Lambert has been touring with Queen since 2011, and most recently shared the stage with the band for their Rhapsody North American tour. Lambert was interviewed by SiriusXM, and discussed late frontman Freddy Mercury, praising the singer with high regard, and of his desire to have met him. 

“I keep hearing from so many original Queen fans, especially dads, who say, ‘My teenage son loves Queen now’ – and it’s because of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie.” Adam said. He added. “That’s one of the things I love about being on tour with the band is that I get to carry a torch for this hero of mine.”

“I didn’t know him but Brian May and Roger Taylor say there are definite similarities and they say, ‘We think you would get a kick out of each other – you probably would have enjoyed each other’s company.’ That means a lot.”

“I just wish I had known him. I wish he were alive so I didn’t even have the gig. He was amazing.” 

A reworked edition of Freddy Mercury’s album, ‘Time Waits For No One’, was unveiled on July 26, with an official release saying, ‘Time Waits For No One’ is a tribute to the musical force of Freddie Mercury; the performance, the drama, the vocal range, and after four decades waiting in the wings, is finally out for new and old fans alike.”

Last July, Costello was forced to cancel the remainder of dates from his European tour following advice from his doctor after surgery for a malignant tumour. He was advised to “take a break from his current tour itinerary and rest”. Costello released a statement following the decision to say. “I have to thank our friends attending last night’s show in Amsterdam and those in Antwerp, Glynde and at Newcastle City Hall for bearing me up.”

He went on to say. “The spirit has been more than willing but I have to now accept that it is going to take longer than I would have wished for me to recover my full strength. Therefore, I must reluctantly cancel all the remaining engagements of this tour.”

Last year, Costello released his thirtieth studio album ‘Look Now’, which was described in a review by Pitchfork “As a collection of tunes, Look Now is a triumph for Costello, a showcase for how he can enliven a mastery of form with a dramatist’s eye.”
