Alt-pop band Nasty Cherry has dropped a new single, “I Am King“. The track is the second cut from an upcoming EP aptly titled ‘Season 2‘, set for release on June 19 via Charli XCX’s label Vroom Vroom Recordings.

This latest is unveiled not too long after the first taste of the forthcoming EP, “Shoulda Known Better“, released back in the end of April. “I Am King” is co-written and produced by Dylan Brady, a half of rising electronic duo 100 gecs, who also recently joined force with Charli XCX on her latest quarantine album ‘how i’m feeling now‘.

The new track continues the glam rock vibe of the previous track, but the cracking metal signature sound of 100 gecs has rendered the tune even more sassy and exciting to jam to during this humdrum lockdown. Also, the lyrics celebrating the glorious act of “touching myself“undeniably make it a perfect song for all the lonely hearts in quarantine out there!

“Wake up and remind myself I’m the fucking king. In the distance nobody can give me what I need. Steaming up when I’m in the car. I’m vibing out when I’m in the dark”

Fans of the girls can expect more good news. The Charli XCX prodigy is gearing up the release of their sophomore EP ‘Season 2‘. The whole catalogue will include five tracks, including lead single “Shoulda Known Better“. June 19 is the date the EP will drop, so be prepared to jam so hard with them very soon. Check out the tracklist below.

Nasty Cherry debuted back in 2019 as a girl group curated by the PC music queen Charli XCX. Currently based in Los Angeles, the four girls broke into the music scene as a glam rock band that serve girl-power bangers that remind us of legendary bands like The Runways. Netflix launched a documentary entitled ‘I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry‘, featuring the story about how the band is shaping up.

They released ‘Season 1‘, the six-track first EP, back in November 2019. The EP spawned much hype for the band, with singles like “Win” and “Music with Your Dad”

‘Season 2’ Tracklist:
1. “Shoulda Known Better”
2. “I Am King”
3. “Better Run”
4. “Just the Way You Like It”
5. “Cardamon December”

Charli XCX has shared the second preview of her upcoming fourth studio album with a new single, “claws“. The track is cut off ‘how i’m feeling now‘, XCX’s next project which is due for release on May 15 via Asylum Records. The singer also talks with the BBC about the process and origin of the album.

“It’s quite exposing, definitely – but the second I started doing it, I didn’t find it scary any more,” the 27-year-old singer speaks of the making of ‘how i’m feeling now‘.

When asked if she is not making this record at the moment, the “1999” hitmaker admits that, “I’d be really, really struggling. Binge-watching TV and being actually quite sad.” However, now that she is currently racking her brain out to craft such a wild project, the PC music queen is grateful to have her fans around in the process.

“Some of my ideas, even the ones I’m posting, are things that maybe won’t come into full realisation. But I think, for my fans, it’s really nice for them to see the process. I mean, I’d be interested to hear demos from some of my favourite artists, to feel their ideas as they’re forming. I find it exciting.”

Also, XCX explains that setting the deadline for the album release does not worry her at all: “I wanted to do the album in an intense period of time, because I thought it would be more fun for people watching, and also because there’s more likely to be some kind of screw-up or error in a short amount of time, which is probably more interesting.”

“claws” is a follow-up to the lead single, “forever“. Since the very first second of the track, it is obvious that the singer has collaborated with no other than Dylan Brady, a member of emerging electronic duo 100 gecs. BJ Burton, who contributes to the lead, also co-produces “claws” as well.

Singing, “I’m not shy, make you sigh / Slip and slide up my thighs / Juicy just like clementines / Sorry if I make you cry,” XCX expresses a love interest in her significant other. She also repeats, “I like-I like-I like-I like-I like everything about you,” a verse that will definitely stick to your consciousness for so long.

XCX once again shares three different versions of the “claws” artwork, as she already did with the release of “forever“. Timothy Luke is named one of the creators of the covers; Luke is XCX’s frequent collaborator who created artworks for her singles like “Boys” and “After the Afterparty“.

It is less than a month now until ‘how i’m feeling now‘ arrives. While waiting a little bit more, we can all enjoy watching Charli XCX making the album and discussing the process and whatnot with various celebrities and fans on her Youtube channel. The latest episode saw the “Vroom Vroom” creator chat with Paris Hilton, Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Gia Gunn. See the clip below.

What would you do if you could travel back in time to 2010? Tell students not to vote Lib Dem? Convince Trump that presidency just isn’t worth the hassle? Invest in Bitcoin? Tell you what I’d do; I’d reassure my braces-toting, acne-ridden, twelve-year-old self with this unfathomable sentence: “Don’t worry kid, give it ten years and Minecraft’s servers will be the coolest place you can be”. In scenes resembling the plot of a bad YA novel, the internet’s favourite pop stars are gathering inside a video game to bring you some respite from the pandemic-enforced siege all we’re all living under.

Hot off the success of last Saturday’s ‘Nether Meant’ (which raised over $8,000 for Good360’s COVID-19 relief efforts), virtual event masterminds Open Pit have made good on their promise that “more [was] to come soon”. ‘Square Garden’ – which will take place at 11pm BST on 24th April – will be their second Minecraft-based festival in under a fortnight, this time in support of the charity Feeding America.

The event is fittingly being co-hosted by post-genre (hell, maybe even post-music???) duo 100 gecs, who legend has it played their very first ‘live’ gig at the Minecraft festival ‘Coalchella’ back in September 2018. The group are also headlining alongside Charli XCX, Cashmere Cat & Benny Blanco. The rammed setlist dwarfs ‘Nether Meant’ in both scale and scope, boasting electropop outfit Kero Kero Bonito, as well as PC Music staples A.G. Cook, GFOTY, Danny L Harle, and umru. ‘Square Garden’ looks to cement Open Pit as the kings of this year’s inevitable online festival circuit. I, for one, welcome our new cyberspace overlords.

For those who don’t own a copy of Minecraft, you can stream the event via 100 gec’s YouTube channel and website.

Electronic duo 100 gecs has just released a new remix of “ringtone” off their debut album 1000 gecs. The remix includes guest appearances from weird pop forces with the likes of Charli XCX, Rico Nasty, and Kero Kero Bonito. The duo also dropped the visualizer of the remixed track, which can be seen and listened below.

Formed in 2015, 100 gecs is an electronic duo from America, consisting of Dylan Brady and Laura Les. The duo has risen to fame in the electronic music scene with many cult-like followers. Their music can be described as abrasive, maximalist pop music that could be off-putting for some listeners, but with their eccentric craft that blends wide-ranging genres from pop punk, dubstep, hip-hop, ska, trance, to metal makes the duo become highly popular amongst the indie listeners.

In May 2019, the weird duo released their debut album 1000 gecs. The record contains ten tracks with well-known tracks like “money machine” and “800db cloud“. It also receives critical acclaim from numerous music critics—such as Pitchfork, Rolling Stones, Stereogum, and The New York Times—that put the album on their ‘Best Of’ list of 2019.

This year, Brady and Les are set to drop a remixed album of their debut LP named 1000 gecs & The Tree of Clues. The album was initially teased with two remixes of their own songs by A. G. Cook and Injury Reserve. Following these two remixes, they have released a brand new remixed track of “ringtone”. The remix version is a collaboration with British PC music queen Charli XCX, American rapper Rico Nasty, and British indie band Kero Kero Bonito’s Sarah Bonito, resulting in an extreme fun track filled with all-star weirdos in pop music.

For 100 gecs and Charli XCX, the remix rendition of “ringtone” is not the first time they work together. Dylan Brady is listed as one of the producers of “Click”, the track off Charli XCX’s eponymous third studio album.

On June 3, 100 gecs is set to play a show at The Underworld Camden, London. Unfortunately, the tickets have already been sold out.
