Northern Irish indie rock group Two Door Cinema Club have revealed a new run of arena shows to celebrate 15 years of their breakthrough debut album ‘Tourist History’. The set of UK and Ireland shows for next January, their first UK headline tour in 7 years, will feature the album played in its entirety as well as big support acts.
Hailing from Bangor, Northern Ireland, Two Door Cinema Club (TDCC) formed as school friends in 2007. In 2009, they travelled to London’s Eastcote Studios to record ‘Tourist History’, before mixing it at then-new Paris studio Motorbass. On release in 2010, the record only made it to 46th on the UK Album Charts, but it later rose up to 24th and was certified platinum, selling over 340,000 copies. ‘Tourist History’ boasts a collection of upbeat, sparkly indie rock jams with well-known hits including ‘This Is The Life’, ‘Something Good Can Work’, ‘What You Know’ and ‘Undercover Martyn’. The album won the Choice Music Award for Irish Album of the Year in 2010, and earned nominations for Best New Band and Album of the Year at the 2011 NME Awards.
The group are already on the road for the 15th anniversary of their debut, which in June saw them play Glasgow’s TRNSMT and the Isle of Wight Festival, as well as a massive headliner at Crystal Palace Park Sessions. Their UK dates for the rest of this year include shows at Ipswich’s Halo Festival on the 4th of July, as well as a Cardiff Castle date on the 2nd of August, before North America, Australia and Asia tours starting in September, including a major show at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
