Muse have released another single ahead of their upcoming album, ‘Cryogen’, where the band recall earlier classics in their tenth studio album, ‘The Wow! Signal’ releasing in June. The band has also released a visualizer video for the track that can be watched on Youtube, allowing fans to enjoy the space theme with imagery, as well as epic sound.
The single comes after the release of ‘Be With You’, that they dropped back in March, exploring the “cosmic mystery” ideal that the album will push even more. The trio band had been teasing the single earlier in March, marking their first new material since 2025 when they dropped ‘Unravelling’.
‘Be With You’ features a grand church organs, and elements of electronica, and the sound of guitar rock that the band use frequently. ‘Cryogen’ features similar sounds, pointing to their guitar-driven sound, with the help in writing and producing from Dan Lancaster (Bring Me The Horizon, Blink 182), and additional production from Aleks von Korff. NME describes the song as “a blast of classic Muse harking back to their ’00s days with wailing riffs [and] an arena-destroying chorus.” This followed the recent preview of ‘Cryogen’ live at London’s 02 Academy Brixton, which was their first performance at a venue since 2001, that reportedly had fans camping out during the night to ensure a good view of the rock band.
A press release describes how frontman Matt Bellamy “paints a vivid picture of a man so deep in the thrall of another that he’s envisioned his tormentor as a frozen moon of Jupiter, and himself as a lost speck on the surface.”
