The band confirmed the news they was at Glastonbury festival prior to their surprise set on stage, posting a picture to their Instagram of a bunch of flags, with one saying ‘’CHURN IT UP.’’ The picture was captioned ‘#Glastonbury2023.

The Foo Fighters were welcomed to the stage by a sound wave of cheers. As Dave Grohl spoke to the crowd, he said, ‘’You guys fucking knew it was us this whole time, didn’t you? We’re happy to see you guys. It’s nice to see you guys after all this time.” During their performance, Dave Grohl brought his daughter, Violet, to the stage to sing one of the band’s new songs from their recently released album, ‘’But Here We Are.’’ He explained that the song, called ‘’Show Me How’’, was written as a tribute to his late-mother.

As they performed their final song, ‘‘Everlong’‘, the band dedicated the song to their late-drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who passed away last March at the age of 50. Grohl said,”Lets sing this one loud and sing for Mr Taylor.” The Glastonbury crowd cheered as he continued by saying, ”Sing it for T.” The Foo Fighters drumming spot has recently been taken over by Josh Freese. He was announced as the new drummer on a live stream of the band performing in early May on the app, Veeps. Josh Freese has worked with iconic bands such as Weezer, Nine Inch Nails and Glastonbury 2023 headliners Guns N’ Roses.

Foo Fighters sang some of their greatest hits during their Glastonbury set, including ‘’Best of You’’, ‘’My Hero’’, ‘’Learn To Fly”, ”All My Life” and ‘’The Pretender.’’ Dave Grohl also confirmed the band will be returning to the UK next summer to embark on their highly anticipated tour. A release date for the tickets or any confirmation of where they will be performing is still yet to be announced.

Music from this years Glastonbury acts will be available to watch live across BBC One, Two, Three and Four. The performances will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds throughout the festival. Presenting the BBC Glastonbury shows will be Clara Amfo, Jack Saunders, Lauren Laverne and Jo Whiley. The BBC will provide Glastonbury coverage live over the weekend, beginning Friday 23 June, 12pm until late evening – until Sunday 25 June late evening.

The BBC will provide audiences with live Glastonbury performances, preview programmes, interviews with performers and more. Live performances will be available to watch from the Pyramid stage, West Holts, John Peel, Other and Park Stages.
Over 90 performances will be broadcast on BBC iPlayer for audiences to watch for up to 30 days after the event. Emerging UK artists performing on the BBC Introducing Stage will also be available to stream for a week after Glastonbury, from Monday 26 June until Friday 30 June.

The festival will be broadcast all day on BBC Sounds from Wednesday 21 June. Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, Radio 2 and Radio 6 will provide audiences with extensive coverage of the event. In addition to the live coverage of Glastonbury 2023, BBC iPlayer will be airing several shows in the lead-up to the festival. The launch of a brand new show, called Signed, will be available to stream on the broadcaster, which will show every Pyramid stage live performance in British Sign Language.

The highlight’s from the performances on Friday will be shown on BBC Two at 7.30pm. Arctic Monkey’s Glastonbury set will be available to watch live on Friday 23 June on BBC Two from 10.30pm until Midnight. BBC Three will show performances from Fred Again.. and will continue to cover the highlights from Friday’s Glastonbury performances, including Shygirl and Wizkid.

On Saturday 24 June on BBC One, Lizzo and Lewis Capaldi’s performances will be available to watch at 9pm until 10pm. To watch Guns N’ Roses perform, BBC Two will be covering their set from 10pm until 2am. BBC Three will be covering Central Cee and Loyle Camer at 12.15am until 2am.

On the final day of the event, Sunday 25 June, coverage from the festival will begin at 5pm on BBC One, with highlights of Rick Astley and Blondie’s sets. Elton John will perform his last ever performance on the Pyramid stage at 9pm, which will be available to watch on BBC One. Elton John’s set will finish just after 11pm. The War on Drugs and Queens of the Stone Age‘s performances will be available to watch on BBC Four from 10pm until 12.15am. BBC Two will broadcast a show from 11pm until 12.20am, with the BBC presenter’s wrapping up the Glastonbury Festival weekend.

‘’City Federal Building’’ holds a personal message for the band’s leader, Paul Janeway, as he shares a message to his daughter within the lyrics. “Don’t let them take your Holy Ghost. Don’t let them take what’s precious to you. Find meaning, and don’t let people take whatever that meaning is,” Janeway says. “There is sometimes a desire that you want your child to grow up to do what you do, but ultimately you just want them to find happiness and some sort of meaning.”

The brand new single follows previously released songs, ‘’Sea Star’’ and ‘’Lovely Love Song.’’ Their forthcoming album, Angels In Science Fiction, was written within just a few weeks after Paul Janeway found out about his wife’s pregnancy with his daughter, Marigold. The band leader come up with the idea for the album as he thought about his then-unborn daughter, as the collection of songs is a series of letters to his daughter.

Janeway said, “A few people told me it would be a good idea to write letters to my yet to be born daughter before she arrived into the world, That is what Angels In Science Fiction is. Themes throughout the album are faith, nature vs nurture, anxiety and beauty. This is a record I would have written whether I did this for a living or not. I don’t know if those records come along all the time.’’ 

Angels In Science Fiction was produced by Matt Ross-Spang and was recorded in Memphis, Tennessee, at Sam Phillips Recording Studio. The new album follows on from St. Paul and The Broken Bones 2022 album, The Alien Coast. As the band prepare for the release of their album, they have a set of tour dates scheduled for throughout the year. St. Paul and The Broken Bones will embark on a tour around the U.S, Europe and Australia this year, including appearances at the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival and Australia’s Bluesfest. The band also have UK tour dates scheduled for this summer, including multiple appearances at the Cambridge Folk Festival.

Capaldi recently spoke with The Sunday Times about the struggles he has faced since becoming a global star, the singer said ‘’It’s only making music that does this to me, Otherwise I can be fine for months at a time. So it’s a weird situation. Right now, the trade-off is worth it. But if it gets to a point where I’m doing irreparable damage to myself, I’ll quit. I hate hyperbole but it is a very real possibility that I will have to pack music in.’’

During the Scottish stars brand new Netflix documentary, he discusses the Imposter Syndrome he suffers with and he also explains how he wrote his song, ‘’The Pretender’’, about his Imposter Syndrome. The ‘’Someone You Loved’’ singer also opened up about his encounter with Ed Sheeran, where Capaldi was able to open up about his feelings to him. After his discussion with Ed Sheeran, Capaldi explained how Sir Elton John got in contact with him.

“Elton sent me an email saying, ‘Dear Lewis, I was talking to Ed yesterday and we talked about you. He said you were feeling a bit like an impostor. Capaldi said,  You are totally your own man.’Your album is still riding high all over the world, AND IT’S YOUR FIRST ALBUM! You write beautiful songs that resonate with millions of people. You are great live, and a wonderful singer. You are also very funny and original. I mean this sincerely.’”

Capaldi explained that even though Elton John’s email was full of uplifting positivity, that he still thinks imposter syndrome is something he is going to suffer with throughout his career. ‘’It’s nice to hear this stuff, but I obviously still feel a bit like an impostor. Impostor syndrome, I think you can have it at any level. That sort of bleeds into every single decision you make and everything you do’’

Capaldi also discusses his home, family life and mental health during the documentary. The documentary also shows Lewis Capaldi admitting that his rise to fame hasn’t been an easy run for him and how he feels a mass of creative pressure. Capaldi admitted, “I’m not confident in my abilities as a songwriter, and I think it’s got worse, the more successful I’ve got,”

The singer was unable to make the event due to his current touring schedule and accepted his artist of the year award via video message. In his acceptance speech, Styles introduced himself and continued by saying “I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone at the iHearts Awards for giving me this prestigious honour of Artist of the Year. It is very kind of you and I’m sorry that I can’t be there with you tonight. I hope you’re all having a wonderful evening, and thank you very much. Take care.”

The 2023 iHeart Music Awards was hosted by Lenny Kravitz and took place in Los Angeles on March 27, at the Dolby Theatre. Taylor swift was the biggest winner of the night, winning the iHeart Radio Innovator Award, as well as Song of the Year and Best Lyrics for her song ‘’Anti-Hero.’’ Sam Smith and Kim Petras also won an award for Best Collaboration for their hit song ‘’Unholy.’’

Harry Styles has gained attention recently for reasons other than his music, but more so for his love life. The former One Direction band member was spotted last week kissing Model and Actress, Emily Ratajkowski, in the streets of Tokyo, Japan. The kiss sparked a controversial reaction from fans, as Ratajkowski is supposedly a friend of Styles ex-girlfriend, Olivia Wilde. Neither Harry Styles or Emily Ratajkowski have confirmed a relationship so far.

Harry Styles has received critical acclaim for his most recent album release, Harry’s House, and the album still continues to receive the positive recognition it deserves. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Bird’s will also embark on a set of outdoor performances throughout the summer, including a number of festival appearances. The 55-year-old rock star and his band are set to headline big festivals in the summer, including PennFest, Splendour Festival, On The Beach Brighton Festival, Hardwick Festival and the Rock N Roll Circus. His upcoming shows will be among Gallagher’s first performances since his career-spanning set which he performed at Glastonbury festival in 2022, on the pyramid stage. The band also announced a USA tour, which consists of 26-dates.

The announcement of the tour came after the release of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Bird’s latest single, ‘’Dead to the world.’’ The single has been released prior to Noel Gallagher’s forthcoming album release, Council Skies, which is his fourth studio album release with his High Flying Birds. The album is set to debut Friday June 2. ‘’Easy Now’’ and ‘Pretty Boy’’ are the other two songs already released from the album.

Whilst speaking about his brand new song, ‘’Dead to the world’’, Gallagher said the single is ‘’by some distance my favourite tune on the album. It has this film noir vibe. It’s not like anything else I’ve ever done before. It’s very melancholic, but I like that. I’m a Gemini – I’m as up as I am down, and the trick is to meet somewhere in the middle and turn that into music.”

The tour is set to begin October 4 2023 in Baltimore, Maryland and will travel through cities such as New York, Toronto, Nashville, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Philadelphia, San Francisco, St. Paul and Atlanta, with the final date scheduled for November 11 in Los Angeles, California. During their last tour, Queen and Adam Lambert were supported on stage by musical director and Keyboardist Spike Edney, Percussionist Tyler Warren and bassist Neil Fairclough – it is reported they will return to support them on the North American tour.

In a recent press release, Adam Lambert discussed the tour saying ”I cant wait to tour North America one more time with the Rhapsody tour alongside two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor.” Brian May also discussed the tour saying, ”our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious. Watch out world.” 

The tour has been an iconic ensemble of Queen’s biggest and most-loved hits from throughout the years, as well as a tribute to the late-frontman Freddie Mercury. Last year, Queen released a never-heard-before song, called ”Face It Alone’, which was recorded during the production of their album The Miracle.

Sir Brian May spoke with Rolling Stone about the upcoming tour, explaining ”This tour has lots of new bells and whistles. We’ve evolved as performers, I think. We’ve stepped up our game.We have better chemistry than ever. We understand each other better than ever, and we feel more free in the way that we interpret stuff. We’re very happy with it. Theres lots of new production and stuff we want to excite you with.”

The band are working with venues and ticketing partners to minimise the chances of resale tickets. The ticketing companies will restrict the ability to resell, as it will only be possible to transfer tickets between fans at the original price. Speaking about the decision to implement the changes to ticket sales, May said ” Its an experiment. We got sick of seeing our fans get ripped off by scalpers. We’re hoping this works out.” 

Rodger Taylor added, ”We want to protect the actual fans. Seeing some of the ticket prices these days, I’m shocked. I dont know how some artists think they can get away with charging that much. We’re just trying to keep it reasonable, a good deal for our fans, the people that want to come see us.”

The June performances are reportedly going to be recorded and released as a concert special, so that Adele fans around the world who were unable to make the shows at her Las Vegas residency will be able to watch them. Adele ended the fans speculation about her plans after her Las Vegas residency came to an end, as she announced the news to a sold-out colosseum crowd about her plans to continue on in June.

She announced to the crowd ”Playing to 4,000 people for 34 dates is not enough, and I know that. So I am coming back for a few weeks in June and I’m going to release it to make sure anyone who wants to see this show can see it.” Adele posted to her Instagram a poster for ”Weekends with Adele” and captioned the post ”See you soon” with a link to the Ticketmaster pre-sale, which opens Wednesday April 5.

The ”Someone Like You” singer kicked off her sold-out Las Vegas residency shows last November, following postponement which was reportedly due to delivery delays and the COVID-19 Pandemic. After announcing the news that she had to postpone her residency, leaving fans devastated, Adele described the situation saying ”It was the worst moment in my career, by far. It was devastating. There was just no soul in it. The stage setup wasn’t right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment.” 

Adele continued to explain that the first couple of months were a struggle for her, but her confidence was boosted as people would tell her ”It was a very brave thing to do.” She also carried on to say, ”I don’t think many people would have done what I did. I’m very proud of myself for standing by my artistic needs.”

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Adele’s Las Vegas residency could likely extend into November, as Caesars Palace is reportedly promoting her ‘‘Weekends with Adele” shows as part of a £5 million high-roller package, which is centred around the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, which is scheduled for the same month. There has also been news reports that Adele has been offered over a million dollars per night to continue performing at Caesars Palace.

Florence Pugh spoke about the writing process for the two songs saying, “I wrote these songs for my character Allison in the movie to perform, but also as a way to process and digest her mindset and her low headspace.” She continued, ‘‘It was unbelievably helpful and hard; I wanted a song to reflect the self-hatred she had for herself in a way that the audience can truly understand.”

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Florence Pugh discussed writing the music for the soundtrack saying, “I wrote one song when I read the script, just to process how this person could feel this, how you’d feel, what you would think about yourself. I think it was just so important that those songs were a discovery for her. They were something that she could finally admit to herself when she was in rehab, so everything about that was just so sweet and tender.”

She continued “I was able to record them away from the character and not on a squeaky piano in a rehab centre and not playing Allison, which was also great. So I feel like I’ve been able to write them for her and then perform them as her, and then perform them as me, which is rare.”

The score for the film was written by Bryce Dessner, who is a member of rock band The National and is well known for writing scores to films, such as C’mon C’mon and The Revenant. The soundtrack also features music from The Velvet Underground and Fenne Lily.

A Good Person was written and directed by Florence Pugh’s ex-partner Zach Braff and co-stars Morgan Freeman. Florence Pugh is also credited as a producer for the film. Pugh recently starred in the film, Dont Worry Darling, alongside British pop icon Harry Styles. The film gained a lot of attention and the two were highly praised for their performances in the film. Florence Pugh is set to star in some of Hollywood’s high profile film projects over the next year, including Marvel’s Thunderbolt, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and the sequel to the remake of Dune.

A Good Person was released in cinemas on March 24 and will be available to watch on Sky Cinema from April 28.
