The iconic and grand Glastonbury Festival was cancelled in 2020 due the beginnings of concern surrounding the coming Covid-19 coronavirus. As the virus has developed into a global health-crisis, the ongoing pandemic closed the gates on this year’s Glastonbury Festival 2021 . It marked the second year in a row that Glastonbury could not go on, opening the doors for speculation that the Glastonbury Event Company might go bankrupt.

Today, it was discovered on eFestivals.com through a forum that two of Glastonbury chief organisers have created, rather secretly, a new events company called Holy Cow Events. Emily Eavis and Nick Dewey have collaborated together and put their names on Holy Cow at Companies House and Incorporated on February 8th, 2021; shortly after this years cancellation of Glastonbury.

With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us. Tickets for this year will roll over to next year. Full statement below and on our website. Michael & Emily pic.twitter.com/SlNdwA2tHd

— Glastonbury Festival (@glastonbury) January 21, 2021

The official registered address for the brand-new Holy Cow Events is under the well-known Worthy-Farm which is owned by Emily Eavis’ father Michael Eavis, who is also the 84-year-old founding-father of the Glastonbury Festival. Holy Cow Events is listed as a performing arts related company at this time and it is unclear what its purpose will be.

Michael Eavis has expressed interest in hosting an event in September 2021, in Glastonbury’s place. He has stated that his hopes would be that the September festival would be smaller in capacity due to the concerns still surrounding Covid-19. The hypothetical event would take place at Worthy-Farm and it is unclear whether Holy Cow Events, though it is registered with Worthy-Farm, would have a role in the event.

It should be noted that when questioned about whether Glastonbury Festival would go bankrupt after two consecutive years cancelled the famous event, Emily Eavis denied the possibility of such a thing ever happening. It is still unclear whether Holy Cow Events will have anything to do with Glastonbury Festival, however, it is associated under Glastonbury’s famous family business name, Eavis.

Fleetwood Mac has announced that they will be releasing a deluxe version of their Fleetwood Mac Live album, which debuted in the 80s. The album is scheduled to release April 9th, 2021 via Rhino. The album will include an extra hour of Fleetwood Mac content, including unreleased and never-before-heard music that was recorded mostly during the band’s Tusk World Tour.

The new album will be released in the form of a 3-CD/2-LP collection, titled Fleetwood Mac Live Super Deluxe. The release will include a 7 inch vinyl which will include new music and added demos such as One More Night and Fireflies.

The music heard on the new album will be from the years 1977 to 1982, from music that was performed off the bands album Tuft. There will be a smaller limited-edition that will ‘contains replicas of backstage passes, tickets, stickers, and more.’ of the live-tour from the original recordings.

Tusk was Fleetwood Mac’s 13th studio album, which earned the band little success initially with only 4 million records sold worldwide.
Fleetwood Mac Live was the bands first live-recorded debut album and was released originally released in 1980. The new record will also feature the astronomical track The Chain during a recording in the Richfield Coliseum in 1980.

The band is not currently touring due to safety concerns surround the Covid-19 pandemic. Mack Fleetwood, one of the founders, will be preforming a show this April at The Crescent Concert Hall Drogheda in Ireland.

London-based band Dry Cleaning have announced their upcoming debut album New Long Leg will be released April 2nd, 2021 via 4AD. Their new single Strong Feelings has a music video streaming on all platforms today, as seen below.

Dry Cleaning released their EP’s Sweet Princess and Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks two years ago in 2019. The forthcoming album New Long Leg was recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic, the members recorded their parts using a Tascam recorder which they passed between car windows and disinfected before each use. The album was finished off with producer PJ Harvey at Rockfield Studios in Wales.

The rock-band toured the US briefly after the release of their latest EPs, but had to return to the UK after the Covid-19 health-crisis rose rapidly, they began writing music straight away while back in London. The new track Strong Feelings as been described by the band as ‘about secretly being in love with someone who doesn’t know it, and Brexit’s disruptive role in romantic relationships’.

Dry Cleaning released the first single off the upcoming debut-album a few months ago, titled Scratchcard Lanyard. The single received critical acclaim for the band, and will feature on the album released in April.

The band was scheduled for UK and Europe tours in 2021, however most of the dates have been cancelled due to the ongoing global pandemic. The band has yet to reschedule their tour, with the exception of few dates in Iceland and UK in the later summer months.

Caribou has announced a re-release and remixed version of his album Suddenly is coming this Spring, 2021. The album will consist of many collaborations with UK artists, never-before-heard remixes and some that have already featured on the previously released Suddenly. The new remixed album will be titled Suddenly Remixes and will be released March 12 via Verge.

Among the artists that will feature on Suddenly Remixes is UK’s hot artist Four Tet on his version of the track Never Come Back. Among the artists who will feature for the first time on the new album are Toro y Moi, Jessy Lanza, Prince Nifty, and Koreless, all who have produced remixes for Never Come Back, Home, You and I and others.

When discussing the upcoming Suddenly Remixes, Caribou stated that, ‘Sometimes remixes are commissioned to be marketing tools or to make the music functional in a club. But for me, there’s only one reason to get remixes done: because I’m a giddy fan of the remixer. Looking down the tracklisting of this remix album, it’s a thrill to see a list of producers whose music I find so inspiring collected there. Some are established artists, some are just starting out; some I messaged, begging a remix, right after coming across their music for the first time; and some are dear friends whose music I’ve loved for a while—but in every case, I feel very lucky to hear their music and mine connected on this remix album.

The original album Suddenly was released Februrary 28th, 2020 and in October of that year, Caribou released the first round of remixes for the album via EP. The remixed EP consisted of two remixes for the song Sunny’s Time, one by Kareem Ali and the other by Logic1000.

Like I Loved You by India Jordan and Shanti Celeste produced Ravi. The remixed singles Sister and Never Come Back were however released 3 months earlier, which was the beginning of the long slew of remixes to come for Caribou in the years 2020 and 2021.

Suddenly Remixes Tracklist:

01 Never Come Back (Koreless Remix)
02 Never Come Back (Four Tet Remix)
03 Home (Toro y Moi Remix)
04 Sunny’s Time (Logic1000 Remix)
05 Sister (Floating Points Remix)
06 Ravi (Shanti Celeste Remix)
07 You and I (Jessy Lanza Mix)
08 Sunny’s Time (Prince Nifty Saddle Up Mix)
09 Never Come Back (Floating Points Remix)
10 Never Come Back (Morgan Geist Remix)
11 Sunny’s Time (Kareem Ali Remix)

A posthumous Greatest Hits Album for The Clash’s late Joe Strummer has been announced for release next month via George Harrison’s Dark Horse Records. The Greatest Hits Album will be titled Assembly and is scheduled for release on March 26th, 2021.

The album will consist of 15-tracks and a series of live performances of the hit songs Rudie Can’t Fail and I Fought The Law. These performances were from Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros live show at London’s Brixton Academy in 2001.

Yalla Yalla and Johnny Appleseed are among the famed tracks that will feature on Assembly, alongside three previously unreleased mixes of songs by The Clash. Notably, Joe Strummer’s cover of Bob Marley’s Redemption Song will be included in the album, as well as a song that has never been released in any form Junco Partner Acoustic by The Clash.

The label started by my father in 1974 has been a family business my whole life (and is indeed even the reason that my parents met.)

That same year Dark Horse released the Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros’ albums Rock Art and The X-Ray Style, Global A Go-Go, and Streetcore. Dhani Harrison continued explaining the new era that included Strummer saying that “From the Indian classical Ragas of Ravi Shankar to the Rock and Roll of ‘Attitudes’ I look forward to reintroducing, to a new audience, all of those artists that my father loved so much. We will also be expanding the Dark Horse family with new artists and classic catalogues in the coming years to include a rich and varied roster of incredible musicians whom we love. Please watch this space! With love, Dhani Harrison.”

The nominations for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards, coming February 28th, have arrived. Among the many star-studded nominations, Britain’s own Atticus Ross has joined Trent Reznor for the Best Score in a Motion Picture category. Ross was nominated in this category twice for his collaborative work with Reznor on the two films Mank and Soul, which Jon Batiste was greatly involved in the writing process as well.

This is not the first major award Ross has been nominated for in his long-running music career, he has also won in many categories he has been nominated in. In 2010, he joined Reznor to win the Academy Award for Best Original Score for their work on The Social Network. In 2013, they teamed up once again to win the Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for their work on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Ross and Reznor have a long history of producing award-winning scores and soundtracks since their collaborations began in 2005 when Ross worked with Reznor’s band Nine Inch Nails. Ross and Reznor developed a kinship through their collaborations and eventually Ross was invited to become an official member in 2016.

Congratulations to Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Jon Batiste on their #GoldenGlobes nomination for Best Original Score! pic.twitter.com/yuqAj3VYHM

Ross has been working in film and television scoring for more than a decade when he first worked on the soundtrack for the television series Touching Evil with his wife Claudia Sarne and his brother Leopold Ross. He won his first award for a score, when in 2010 he was given the BMI award and the World Soundtrack Award for his work on The Book of Eli.

This year Ross and Reznor face a varied and talent group of opponents for the award, Other nominees in the Best Score Motion Picture category include Alezandre Desplat, Ludwig Goransson, James Neton Howard, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Judas and the Black Messiah, The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Life Ahead, One Night in Miami. Mank and Soul will be going up against The Midnight Sky and Tenet among many others.

This year’s Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler this February. 28th, originally scheduled for January but delayed because of saftey concerns surrounding the Covid19 global pandemic. The show will be live-streamed from The Hilton in Beverly Hills, California and will be aired a 8 p.m. Eastern US time on the American network NBC.

The success of the album was incomparable to the Body Talk series, however, Do It Again still went into the top 20 album charts in the UK and became the first number-one Dance/Electronic album that either Robyn or Röyksopp ever received.

The release of the remixed Monument was in celebration of The Knife’s 20th anniversary of the band on January 29th. The official release has come with a statement saying that “This is the first time Olof has worked with the duo, having previously worked with Robyn across projects on Konichiwa Records.” Indicating that the three Scandinavian artists have been working up to this collaboration.

When describing the sound of the new track, a press release stated that “for the rework, Olof brings his signature warm and percussive sound to the chart-topping single. The track is accompanied by a visualizer from Martin Falck who has previously collaborated with The Knife, Bjork, Fever Ray and Robyn.”

The Knife has also celebrated its 20th anniversary with releasing rare music previously unreleased tracks from the last two decades of their career. They also uploaded their music onto the streaming platform Bandcamp for more listeners to enjoy their music over the years.

Robyn’s latest album Honey was released in 2018 and received critical acclaim once again for the artist. Most recently she teamed up with Jonsi for the track Salt Licorice, a collaboration fans have been long awaiting. Monument is now available for streaming on all platforms and can be seen above.
