Last night’s performance marks two year since Lipa last visited the world famous sketch show. Lipa was scheduled to attend SNL back in March in support of her latest studio album, Future Nostalgia. Unfortunately, her performance was cancelled due to the worsening of the coronavirus pandemic. 

SNL shared both of Lipa’s magnificent performances directly to their YouTube channel last night. Levitating has received over 69,000 views, whilst Don’t Start Now has obtained a huge 113,000 views. Lipa’s wonderful performances can be watched in full here.

The One Kiss singer got into the spirit of SNL by participating in sketch shows with SNL alumni Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig. Lipa’s humorous sketches can be watched here.

Lipa shared her latest SNL visit via social media. Taking to Instagram, Lipa shared a laughter – inducing clip of herself and Kristen Wiig performing their ‘Marjorie’ sketch. The post, which saw a humongous 1.2 million views, was met with an excited reception from fans.

Despite the world-stopping pandemic, 2020 has still been a busy year for Dua Lipa. The talented vocalist hosted her ‘Studio 54’ livestream, which saw support from singer-songwriter FKA Twigs.

Lipa broke records with ‘Studio 54’, the livestream gig gained over 5 million views, and shattered world records. NME wrote of the virtual event: “Studio 2054 goes some way to completing Lipa’s evolution from good to great that started with the release of ‘Future Nostalgia’. Although the routines on show tonight aren’t the most complex, they flesh out her performance enough that now she has the songs, the personality and the presence that all true icons possess.”

Recently, the New Rules hitmaker was the recipient of the Powerhouse Award at the virtual Billboard Women in Music Awards, which took place on December 10th. Lipa was presented the award by none other than beloved US Senator, Bernie Sanders.

Lipa took to Instagram to celebrate her recognition via the prestigious award. Sharing a snap of herself clutching the award in a beautiful dress, Lipa wrote: “Thank you @billboard Women In Music for the Powerhouse Award!” Fans were astounded at the celebratory post, which obtained over 3.1 million likes. One devoted fan wrote: “We are so proud of you, well done!”

Dua Lipa’s latest album, Future Nostalgia, was released on March 27th. Her second studio album, the dazzling record followed Lipa’s self-titled debut album. Future Nostalgia contains songs such as Cool, Physical, Love Again and Pretty Please.

On December 18th, French singer-songwriter Oklou remixed Lipa’s Fever, which originally came out on October 29th. Lipa also joined forces with Miley Cyrus recently on Prisoners, a track taken from Cyrus’ recently released album, Plastic Hearts.

Currently, Gallagher’s yuletide track has claimed the #2 slot on the Official UK Charts, ensuring the Rock N Roll Star a strong spot in the running for the coveted top spot. The winner of the tight chart race will be announced next week. All You’re Dreaming Of has also done incredibly well in terms of physical copies, and is already the best selling vinyl single of 2020. 

Ever modest, Gallagher was quick to announce the success of All You’re Dreaming Of. Taking to his favourite social media platform, Gallagher tweeted earlier today (December 19th): “All You’re Dreaming Of is number 2 midweek UK charts c’mon you know, LG x.” Fans were certainly in agreement with Gallagher’s celebratory tweet, as the post received over 600 likes and 5000 retweets!

All You’re Dreaming Of was released on November 27th, kicking off the Christmas season with a strong, moving festive single. Since then, Gallagher performed the new track live on the Jonathan Ross show. Additionally, Gallagher included All You’re Dreaming Of as part of his Down By The River live stream, which saw Gallagher and his band sing some of the star’s biggest and best hits whilst floating down the River Thames on a giant barrage. 

In accordance with his new release, Gallagher also put out a Christmassy music video, which was directed by Anthony Byrne. The monochromatic video opens with a flurry of snow blowing across a cold, dark night. Before long, we see a trio of brass instrumentalists, and a piano playing itself.

The camera then pans to Gallagher, who stands alone in a large, empty home. Gallagher launches into the track’s opening verse in his signature Mancunian croon.  Gallagher sings: “Paint the night sky/While the morning waits/With a field of stars/To keep the dark at bay”

As the instruments swell, the memento builds, and the song reaches its Christmassy climax. Gallagher sings the chorus: “Oh what are you dreamin’ of?/Is it the kind of love/That’ll be there when the world is at its worst?/That’ll cover you in kisses unrehearsed?”

All proceeds from the release, vinyl or otherwise, will go directly to Action for Children UK. Established in 1869, Action for Children UK is a charity that focuses on the financial and emotional wellbeing of vulnerable children and their families.

All You’re Dreaming Of is out now.

Healy’s indication towards his other music guise was displayed through social media. The Chocolate singer set up a brand new Instagram account for Drive Like I Do, a move executed by artists who wish to tease fans with the idea of new music. Healy took to his official Instagram, which is posed under the moniker Truman Black, to share a throwback photo of the band, which again is a homage towards Drive Like I Do. 

The Mancunian born artist posted a photograph of himself rocking out fifteen years ago, which received over 149,000 likes from devoted fans. Healy wrote the caption: “Drive Like I Do – Live in Newcastle 2005”. When one devoted fan commented: “we want a new DLID record”, the Girls hitmaker simply responded “ok”.

Following this interaction, Healy sent the link to the fan leading to a brand new Instagram page dedicated to Drive Like I Do.  The new account has two photos only – some vintage looking snaps of a backyard basketball hoop, and an action shot of a football match.

The first post was captioned with an ambiguous caption: “That Wasn’t Even The Craziest Thing That Went Down”, which could possibly be a title of some new Drive Like I Do material. Already, the mysterious account has obtained over 13,000 followers.

Earlier this year, Healy spoke on evolving the sound of Drive Like I Do. The 1975 frontman revealed that he was working on remastering some old Drive Like I Do songs. Healy said: “I’m getting the old stuff remastered and I’m basically going to put out the first album, the album that never was released.”

When speaking on rejuvenating his old band, Healy confirmed that “We will follow that up with a new album. There’s so much Drive Like I Do stuff that was great that there’s not even demos of, so I’m going to record those songs and put them out with the two records that do kind of technically exist in the world.”

Healy also spoke out on his decision to quit social media, saying it has made him a “much better person”. Healy elaborated on the pressures of social media, saying: “It’s such a weird paradox. Sometimes I get it right but sometimes I look like a t*** and that makes my work worse. I found myself asking myself ‘for what?’ some attention in the moment? A short cut towards feeling good about myself?”

The latest album from The 1975 is Notes On A Conditional Form, the fourth studio album from the indie-pop band. The 1975 released the critically acclaimed album on May 22nd. Notes On A Conditional Form features songs such as The Birthday Party, Yeah I Know, Streaming and Roadkill.

Glastonbury 2020 was sadly but necessarily cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This years’ installment was supposed to mark the 50th anniversary of the world famous festival. Glastonburys’ lawyer, Mark Challis, recently said that the event’s 50th birthday will be staged in June 2021 instead.

Emily Eavis, daughter of Michael Eavis, who founded the legendary festival, recently spoke with the BBC about Glastonbury 2021. Eavis relayed that “We’re doing everything we can on our end to plan and prepare.”

Unfortunately, the possibility of Glastonbury 2021 is relatively low, according to Eavis. Eavis said: “I think we’re still quite a long way from being able to say we’re confident 2021 will go ahead.”

Eavis continued, saying: “I can’t tell you how much we’d love to welcome everyone back to the farm…It’s been way too quiet here this year and we want to get people back here as soon as we possibly can.” Eavis added: “Obviously the vaccine news in recent weeks has increased our chances. We’re doing everything we can on our end to plan and prepare, but there are still just so many unknowns and factors which are completely out of our control.”

Eavis expanded on the financial issues the Glastonbury founders have faced this year: “What we definitely can’t afford to risk is getting too far into the process of next year, only for it to be snatched away from us again. We lost millions this year, and we can’t risk that happening again.”

Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis recently spoke on coronavirus testing, saying that “massive testing arrangements” could be in place for next year’s event. “The testing is going so well now, there could be massive testing arrangements” Eavis said.

Emily Eavis pleaded with the UK government for “direct financial support” for Glastonbury 2021 earlier this month. Despite their reassuring, hopeful statements, Emily and Michael Eavis have said that money is “already getting tight” in the wake of next year’s event.

Naturally, insurers remain cautious to offer cancellation cover. Should Glastonbury 2021 be cancelled, organisers could lose millions in revenue, which Michael and Emily Eavis say is something they simply cannot afford.

Glastonbury was founded by Michael Eavis in the year 1970. Year after year, the music festival extraveganza welcomed some of the biggest and best names in music. Last year, Glastonbury saw The Cure and The Killers serve as fantastic headline acts. The 2020 instalment of Glastonbury was supposed to have the likes of Dua Lipa, Sir Paul McCartney and Supergrass perform. Kendrick Lamar and Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift were also confirmed for the 2020 lineup.

It is unclear whethere these artists will roll over onto the 2021 lineup. We can only hold out hope that the momumental Glasonbury festival will return safely next year.

Loving the People was directed by American filmmaker Phillip Youmans. Kiwanuka premiered the video to his official YouTube channel last night (December 14th), which has obtained over 9000 views already. 

The videos’ introduction sees an upshot of a palm tree dotted boulevard, and samples a speech from John Lewis, the late US Congressman and civil rights activist. Lewis’ iconic human rights speech continues, saying: “A moving feeling within me/That I was sitting there demanding a God-given right/And my soul became satisfied that I was right in what I was doing/At the same time there was something deep down within me, moving me.”

Isolated piano notes mark the start of Loving the People, whilst the shot transitions to four young individuals in their home. As the music video progresses, we see the young people frolicking in the sun, body painting, skateboarding and dancing. All the while, Kiwanuka’s beautiful instrumental envelopes the psychedelic film. 

Director Youmans said in a statement: “Listening to ‘Interlude (Loving the People) feels like sunshine on my skin.” Speaking out on the video, Youmans said: “This film is an escapist trip where young black people revel in the psychedelic experience. For me ‘Loving the People’ is about the adrenaline of unconfined love and joy, a celebration of black youth and imagination.”

Youmans’ psychedelic vision certainly appears within the Loving the People video. It is a celebration of youth, art and unadulterated joy, a visual masterpiece to calm the anxieties that 2020 has brought the music industry and the world as a whole. The short film can be watched in full below.

Michael Kiwanuka announced the arrival of the Loving the People music video via social media. Sharing a clip to Instagram, Kiwanuka wrote in the post: “Interlude (Loving The People) a film by Phillip Youmans. Featuring words by John Lewis. Link in the bio.” The post, which received over 10,000 likes and views, was met with a warm reception by fans. 

Kiwanuka is a monumental record. As well as its commercial success amongst fans and critics, the self-titled record took home the Mercury Prize Album of the Year award last month. Kiwanuka beat out the likes of Dua Lipa, Stormzy and Charli XCX for the coveted prize.

In a statement following his big win, Kiwanuka said: “It has definitely encouraged me to keep dreaming big. I hope it inspires people who maybe have a similar story to mine or people who, in other ways, maybe feel like they’re going into something that is maybe outside of their comfort zone or not usually the path they would be expected to take.” 

 Kiwunaka went on to leave a motivational statement to his fans: “I’d hope it inspires them just to keep going and to keep being true to themselves, to keep going but not to compromise. That’s something I really believe in and I hope that is something that can garner from my music and especially the songs on this album.”

Kiwanuka is out everywhere now.

The livestream event was broadcasted by the Cosmic Shambles Network. The entirety of the livestreams’ donations will be split equally between charities Doctors Without Borders, Turn2Us, Mind and Kings Place Music Foundation. 

Established in France in 1971, Doctors Without Borders is an international humanitarian non-governmental organisation that executes charitable projects in conflict zones and countries affected by endemic diseases. Turn2Us fights UK poverty through donating financial hardship funds.

Mind is a British programme that reaches out to individuals suffering with mental health problems, meanwhile the Kings Place Music Foundation partners with music and arts organisations around the UK to deliver learning and participation activities to the local community.

Hosted by Robin Ince, Smith performed the songs M, Play for Today and In Your House for the charity livestream. M, Play for Today and In Your House are all taken from The Cures’ second studio album, Seventeen Seconds, which came out back in 1980. 

A socially distanced performance, of course, Smith sits alone and barefoot in what looks like his home studio. Accompanied only by his drum machine, the Just Like Heaven hitmaker’s heavenly croon fills the studio as it would for an intimate Cure gig. Smith’s mesmerising performance was also shared to YouTube, the video in question obtaining over 13,000 views. 

Meanwhile, The Cure have stood up and shown support for the struggling live music industry in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Taking part in the #ILoveLive campaign, Smith donated his beloved black UltraCure guitar.

The Cure announced their participation in the #ILoveLive campaign via a post to Instagram. Sharing a photograph of Smith playing the legendary guitar, The Cure wrote in a length caption: “Robert is giving away his schecter ‘fibonacci sequence’ black UltraCure guitar – played at every show in 2016 – to benefit UK music.” Fans were clearly happy with the news, as the post received over 49,000 likes.

Back in September, Smith revealed that he had dedicated most of 2020 to “finishing off” a brand new album with The Cure, along with a solo record. When chatting to NME, Smith divulged that the band had been plugging hard on “two new albums and an hour of noise.” Hopefully, The Cure won’t keep us waiting too long for their next masterpieces!

Pale Waves confirmed the release date for She’s My Religion via social media. In a post to Instagram late last night (December 11th), the indie-pop quartet shared the single’s cover art, along with the caption: “She’s My Religion – Tuesday!”

Pale Waves also revealed what seems to be some lyrics from the forthcoming track, writing “She’s cold/She’s dark/She’s cynical”. The post elicited some serious excitement from fans, receiving over 10,000 likes. One fan commented playfully: “We have been waiting a long time for this!”

This is not the first time Pale Waves has teased She’s My Religion. Frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie hinted towards the single on Twitter back in May, sharing a short demo along with the status: “I just want new pw music to come out to be honest.”

She’s My Religion will be taken from Pale Waves’ forthcoming album, Who Am I? Pale Waves’ sophomore record, Who Am I? will follow their debut album My Mind Makes Noise, which came out back in 2018. 

Scheduled for arrival early next year, Pale Waves will premiere Who Am I? on February 12th, 2021, via Dirty Hit Records. An eleven track album, Who Am I? will contain the songs I Just Needed You, Fall to Pieces, Tomorrow and Change.

In an official press release, Pale Waves said that Who Am I? will serve “as the Pale Waves manifesto – inspiring inclusivity, self-discovery, and the notion of being whoever the hell you want to be”. The Television Romance singers revealed that the albums’ lyricism will explore Heather Baron-Gracies’ personal experiences with mental health and depression. 

Baron-Gracie spoke on how Who Am I? helped Baron-Gracie come to terms with her own self acceptance. Baron-Gracie said that since wrapping the album: “I’ve stepped onto a path of wanting to explore myself and I feel confident in myself and proud to own my sexuality. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.”

Last month, Pale Waves shared a sonic gem from Who Am I?, Change. Pale Waves released Change on November 11th. 

Change is a wistful indie bop all about heartache. Although it has a light, upbeat backing track, Baron-Gracies’ lyrics reflect a person burnt by love, yet still wishing for a different outcome. Baron-Gracie sings the relatable lyrics: “I remember it like it was yesterday/My mother didn’t prepare me for this heartache” and “I keep wishing you would change/It’s no surprise you’re still the same.”

Pale Waves dropped the Change music video on YouTube in accordance with their release, which has garnered a whopping 362,000 views. The band jam out in a woodland forest, whilst Baron-Gracie shreds the guitar and sings: “I’m being so irrational, don’t know what to do/Just trying my best to get over you/I sat in the shower couldn’t leave for a few hours/’Cause I let you back in, now I’m crawling out my skin”

Circa Waves dropped some festive breadcrumbs for their new release via social media last night. Taking to Instagram, the band alerted fans of the upcoming track: “Ho Ho Ho our christmas banger is out tomorrow at 10am GMT.” 

The indie quintet stayed true to their promise, and took to Instagram again today to post news of Miss Christmas’ arrival. Circa Waves declared in the posts’ caption: “MISS CHRISTMAS, maybe the greatest christmas song ever is out now. Listen to it loud to get in the Christmas spirit!”

In a few short hours, the Miss Christmas music video has obtained over 1,800 views already. The Miss Christmas music video can be watched in full here. 

Keiran Shudall, frontman of Circa Waves, spoke out about their new festive track. In an official press release, Shudall meditated on the emotional aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, especially around Christmas time.

Shudall said: “As no one’s been able to hug their family for half a year we wanted to give you this song. A warm Christmassy cuddle to tide you over till Covid gets chinned out of its shoes in 2021!”

Shudall continued by discussing the Christmassy effect Circa Waves were trying to achieve with Miss Christmas. Shudall said: “We wanted to make a Christmas song that felt timeless and could sit between Mariah Carey and Paul McCartney on the nation’s Christmas Day. Pass the sprouts!”

Miss Christmas is the latest from the stream of new music that Circa Waves have shared this year. The Liverpool-born band dropped their fourth studio album, Sad Happy, on March 13th, and followed the release with EP, Sadder Happier. 

A surprise EP, the self-described “angry record” was shared by the band on May 20th, 2020. Circa Waves also enlisted Alfie Templeman for the collaborative single, Lemonade, on August 27th. 

When chatting to NME, Keiran Shudall said of Lemonade: “The song has been a bit prophetic in a sense. It’s almost as if I felt what the nation now feels, months before it all happened. This feeling of imagining that you’d be doing something better than what you’re doing at the time.”

Shudall continued, saying: “I think everyone has that sense all the time anyway, thinking that life should be a bit more interesting than it is, and Corona has just put a massive magnifying glass on that.”

Miss Christmas is out everywhere now.

Originally, the tour was scheduled for November of this year. In abidance with the UK government’s health guidelines surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, Sea Girls rescheduled the dates to February 2021 back in September. Unfortunately, the dates have been pushed back further, to October 2021.

In an official statement, Sea Girls confirmed the sad news. The band confirmed that “We have made the difficult decision to reschedule our UK and EU February tour dates to Autumn 2021.”

Now, Sea Girls UK tour will officially begin on October 7th, 2021. Sea Girls will kick off at the O2 Academy in Leicester. The indie quintet will then travel across the UK, playing shows in both Newcastle, Glasgow and Liverpool.

The tour will come to a head in Manchester, where Sea Girls will deliver a blinding, already sold out show at the Academy in Manchester. Unsurprisingly, their upcoming shows in Birmingham, Glasgow and London have flown off the virtual shelves like hotcakes, and are already sold out.

Fortunately, tickets purchased by fans for the February 2021 dates will remain valid for the revised tour dates. Sea Girls confirmed that: “Tickets purchased for these shows remain valid, please hold on to them! UK support comes from the awesome Baby Queen.”

Sea Girls took to Instagram to reveal their revised tour dates with their ever-growing fanbase. Within the post, Sea Girls wrote playfully: “Buy some print at home tickets for our UK 2021 tour to stick under the Christmas tree and make everyone’s dreams come true! Link in bio.”

The All You’re Dreaming Of is the first taster from Gallagher’s Livestream special, ‘Down By The River Thames’, which is set to premiere later tonight. The ‘Down By The River’ stream will be available via MelodyVR. A socially distanced gig, of course, the special stream will be a crowd-less, outdoor event. ‘Down By The River’ will see Gallagher and his band singing a varied repertoire of some of his greatest hits whilst floating along the River Thames on a huge barge.

In an official statement, Gallagher gave some details surrounding his upcoming performance. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Star said he will sing “tracks from my two number 1 solo albums as well as some stone-cold Oasis classics, some of which you haven’t heard me sing for a long, long time.” 

Gallagher shared the ‘Down By The River’ setlist to his favourite social media platform, Twitter. From Morning Glory to Wall of Glass, ‘Down By The River’ will retell the pivotal moments of the British icon’s still-thriving career. The setlist reveal garnered over 18,000 likes and was received excitedly by avid fans. 

Not long after, Gallagher took to Instagram to share a clip of his memorising All You’re Dreaming Of performance. Unfortunately, this once in a lifetime performance will be a standalone gig for the Britpop legend. Despite the subsequent changes to the music industry following the Covid-19 pandemic, Gallagher revealed recently that he has no interest in following the new artist trend of Zoom performances.

In a recent interview, Gallagher conveyed his sustain towards performing via Zoom. The Wall of Glass hitmaker believes Zoom gigs could never compare to the rush of performing live: “You have got to go big all the time, I’m not into doing gigs on Zoom. It’s not for me, it’s ridiculous.”
