49-year-old shockrocker Marilyn Manson was performing at the Spanish version of Download Festival in Madrid, when he got fans to join him up on stage and made a bizarre request.

Manson was performing ahead of Avenge Sevenfold, who were the headliner for the night, when the crowd allegedly got impatient. According to a reddit user who was present, the audience spent the first 30 minutes of Manson’s set booing and encouraging him to exit the stage, resulting in the artist pulling a group of fans up on stage.

Many of those chosen were fans of Manson himself, but one was wearing an Avenge Sevenfold shirt, which Manson insisted he remove when the fan went in for a hug. Instead, he insisted the fan cover himself with a Peruvian flag that was also brought onstage, which he eventually did. When he finally agreed the crowd cheered along and encouraged him, despite jeering Manson out of admiration for Avenge Sevenfold just minutes earlier .

The event came just a few days after Marilyn released his his first single since “Heaven Upside Down”, his tenth studio album which was released in October of 2017. His newest single is an industrial take on “Cry Little Sister”, the song popularised due to its use in the vampire flick Lost Boys.

In a recent interview with Paper Magazine, 31-year-old Brendon Urie revealed that he currently identifies as Pansexual.

The multi-instrumentalist and Panic! At The Disco frontman emphasised that he was more than happy in his current relationship (he has been married to partner Sarah Urie for over 5 years) but would be open to exploring relationships with other genders if circumstances changed.

The interview comes just weeks after Urie released “Pray For The Wicked”, his second album in a row to hit the number one spot in the Billboard 100. In the statement, he explained the term pansexual as:

“If a person is great, then a person is great. I just like good people, if your heart’s in the right place. I’m definitely attracted to men. It’s just people that I am attracted to.”

Brendon has come under fire from the LGBTQIA+ community in the past, for identifying as ‘barsexual’ – a person who feels same gender attraction only when drunk. He has since come to regret the label and his association with it, saying: “I’ve said things without thinking about it, not trying to be offensive. I need to apologise for that.”

Sexuality was not the only topic touched on the interview, as Urie also discussed the #MeToo movement and its effects on the music industry, lamenting the fact that a lot of the time “guys don’t speak up.” He encouraged men who had witnessed improper behaviour to speak up, explaining that:

“Those guys [perpetrators of sexual assault and harassment] aren’t your friends, they’re not good people. They are doing terrible things, tell people about it. Don’t protect your friends.”

Punk and new-wave artist Elvis Costello has cancelled his full run of European tour dates, due to surgery recovery taking longer than expected.

The 63-year-old was operated on in May, wherein doctors acted to remove an aggressive cancerous tumour. He decided to go ahead with the tour in June, but cancelled early dates in Plymouth and Southend in order to make a full recovery.

He has now decided to cancel all future dates, saying in a statement:

“Post-surgical guidelines for such surgery recommend three weeks to four weeks recovery depending on whether you are returning to a desk job or an occupation that involves physical work or travel.

It was impossible to judge how this advisory would line up with the demands on a travelling musician, playing 90-minute to two-hour plus performances on a nightly basis”.

Over the years, Costello has collaborated with everyone from Green Day to Paul McCartney, and was even nominated for an Oscar for his work on the music for Cold Mountain.

He emphasised in his statement the importance of reaching out to family and other loved ones if you doubt your health, saying:

“Take very good care of your loved ones but gentleman, do talk to you friends – you’ll find you are not alone – seek your doctor’s advice if you are in doubt or when it is timely. It may save your life. Believe me, it is better than playing roulette.”

Richard Swift, former drummer for the Shins, touring bassist with The Black Keys and solo musician, has died age 41. He was taken into hospital last month with an undisclosed life-threatening condition, and passed away on the 3rd of July.

His death was confirmed via a statement on his Facebook page, which simply said:

Born in California, Swift worked all his life as a prolific self-taught musician and producer, drumming for The Shins between 2011 and 2016, and playing bass on tour with The Black Keys in 2014. He also founded National Freedom, an independent recording studio in Oregon, as well as producing the work of Foxygen, Sharon Van Etten and Guster, amongst others.

Those paying tribute to Swift over social media included the lead singer of The Black Keys Dan Auerbach, who said the musician had now joined his mother and sister. He ended his tribute with the words “I will miss you my friend”.

Alternative rock and hip-hop duo Twenty One Pilots have released a series of cryptic clues across their website and social media, leading some fans to believe that new music may be on its way.

The act’s last official release was 2015’s “Blurryface”, which was the 8th best selling album of that year, and the first ever album to have every track be certified at least gold by the Recording Industry Association Of America. It was also awarded the title of ‘Top Rock Album’ at the Billboard Music Awards.

As for the rumours, many fans are of the opinion that Twenty One Pilots will drop their fifth album on Friday the 13th of July. This is due to the fact that searching ‘Friday’ on the band’s website results in an error message, and a related search term of “Friday alright which one of you admin fuckers told them im dropping the album”.

So Not Sure If People Have Seen This But If You Search Friday On TOP Website, This Comes Up @AltPress @twentyonepilots @joshuadun #TylerJoseph pic.twitter.com/x5yQzsWFGR

— Carlos herrera (@Carlosrafael182) April 23, 2018

In addition, dedicated members of the fanbase have told people to be on the lookout for a single this Friday, on the 6th of July. This is down to the fact that the duo recently released an 8 second clip of distorted audio, the file name of which is “_ _ n_ot_myo_nly_fri_en d”.

there are 7 dashes. seven days from now is july 6th, a year since the day the eye was closing. also, note the space between en and d. you can interpret this as fri and end being two different words instead of friend. friday = the end of the hiatus. july 6th is a friday. be ready. pic.twitter.com/g1BZFKQmIj

— top today (@top__today) June 30, 2018

That might seem at first to be random nonsense, but eagle-eyed fans have taken the seven dashes to mean the seven days following the clip’s release, putting the single drop date at July 6th. There’s also the issue of the dash between ‘fri’ and ‘end’ in ‘friend’ – which may point to Friday being the end of the hiatus. July 6th is an especially significant date as it represents a year from the day ‘the eye closed’, another piece of Blurryface-era lore.

These new clues come after a swathe of other cryptic messages earlier in the year, including references to ‘dema‘ (a word meaning tower of silence), and a dema-related website that included an ominous message for detective-minded fans.

The former Smiths frontman Morrissey has postponed his upcoming July tour dates, with management citing “logistical circumstances beyond [their] control” as the reason.

Morrissey was due to play five UK shows in the coming month, including two hometown shows in Manchester, as well as gigs in Sweden and Germany. The announcement came less than a day after his management hit out against a Love Music Hate Racism event planned to coincide with one of his Manchester shows.

Peter Katsis, of Deckstar Management, claimed over Facebook that the event was simply “using the situation to gain some much-needed attention”, even going so far as to say “bullshit is still bullshit” regarding the motivations for the protest. Dave Haslam, the event’s organiser, called the response “the best turn of events ever”, saying that Morrissey’s management were “clearly rattled” by the event.

As for the upcoming shows, the UK dates will not be rescheduled until after Morrissey’s South America tour, which stretches across November and December of this year. His management did assure fans however, that he would “reschedule UK and European dates as soon as possible”. All tickets will be refunded, with those refunds being processed starting from Monday.

Co-founder and member of iconic pop group the Bee Gees Barry Gibb collected his knighthood on Tuesday, which he was awarded for his exceptional services to both music and charity. At 71 years old, Sir Barry is the oldest and last surviving member of the trio, and he paid tribute to his brothers throughout the ceremony.

The singer-songwriter and producer explained on the day that “If it was not for my brothers, I would not be here” and emphasised that “If I had spent my whole life writing songs on my own, it would have meant something else altogether.” He also said he hoped that wherever they were, his brothers “were aware of what happened”.

Over the course of their career, the Bee Gees sold over 220 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful recording artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 by Brian Wilson, the frontman of the Beach Boys, and their induction script reads “Only Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees.”

The band retired from performing under the Bee Gees name after 45 years in 2003, following the death of the oldest brother, Maurice Gibb. Barry and Robin later joined up again to perform under the name, but Robin died aged 62 in 2012, following a long battle with cancer.

Reflecting on his career and achievements, Barry said he found his new title “a bit surreal” but that it was “a high award that your culture can give you and that is something I am enormously proud of.” Above all though, he said there was “no question” about whether he would have prefered to have his brothers share in the occasion.

Art rock singer-songwriter St. Vincent and pop icon Sheryl Crow have teamed up to collaborate on their first joint-release, a single called “Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You”.

St. Vincent, otherwise known by her real-life name Annie Clark, plays the guitar on the new track, alongside lending both backing and lead vocals at different points. The song was written by Crow, who immediately rang Clark to ask her to contribute before the song was released.

According to an interview with NME, Clark was thrilled to be asked to be involved with the project, calling Crow “a wonderful singer, player, songwriter and a rad woman to boot”. According to Crow, when Clark responded to an email asking about her interest in the project, she responded with just a single line: “Fuck yes”.

The release comes just days after Clark released a video own single under the St. Vincent name, “Fast Slow Disco”, a reworked version of the single from her last album – 2017’s “MASSEDUCTION”.
