Iconic American hard rock band Guns N’ Roses came together to perform at The Troubadour in their hometown in LA for the first time in 23 years (via rollingstone). The classic line-up included Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan who are legendary members of the hard rock band. The remainder of the line-up included three current members – guitarist Richard Fortus, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and drummer Frank Ferrer and a new keyboardist Melissa Reese who is said to have replaced Chris Pitman.

Back in 2012 when Axl Rose was asked about a possible classic line-up reunion he replied with “Not in this lifetime”. Funnily enough this secret gig was advertised under the name “Not in this lifetime” by the venue. Since the release of this advertisement, it has been announced that this is the name of their upcoming summer tour. The tickets were released early on Friday morning for an extremely small sum of $10 at the old Tower Records store where Slash once worked. The band had really thrown it back to the old days with this reunion with connections to their past lives especially considering that the Troubadour was where the rock legends were first noticed over 30 years ago.

4 years ago: Axl Rose about Guns N’ Roses Reunion Tour: ‘Not In This Lifetime’ https://t.co/QGOOLwbW02
Now: pic.twitter.com/Yg4r3bimXV

Die-hard fans formed a long line all waiting to buy one ticket each which was the limit per person to prevent re-sales and mass capitalization on the huge demand. The day marked the first time the classic line-up played together since 1993 in Buenos Aires. The band started the show with their well known opener ‘It’s so Easy’ which brought a wave of energy to start the show off with. The set also included classic iconic songs, two songs from the band’s 2008 album ‘Chinese Democracy’ and a cover of The Who.

Alongside many fans, many famous fans attended the gig such as Bradley Cooper, Kate Hudson, Lenny Kravitz, Jim Carrey, Chris Brown, Nicholas Cage and Michelle Rodriguez who all came together at The Troubadour to celebrate the reunion of the legendary band.

However this reunion is only the beginning of a busy year for the band as they are scheduled to perform as the headline act at Coachella in California later this month, are playing two warm-up shows at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 8th and 9th and are set to go on a North American Tour which will all take place in iconic stadiums.

You can watch fan-shot clips of the show (despite the venue’s no-camera policy) down below:

Recently, the iconic film and music producer who inspired and guided many legendary artists and bands such as Nirvana and The Beatles passed away at the age of 90. To pay tribute a host of producers including the Nirvana producer Butch Vig gathered together to reminisce on the late producers influence on many individuals.

The Guardian formed the tribute to Martin by gathering a number of modern day producers including Mark Ronson, Paul Epworth, Nigel Godrich and also the man who produced Nirvana’s breakthrough album from 1991 ‘Nevermind’ which became the iconic album of the 90’s. He mentioned that Martin was ‘”the most important producer in the history of rock’n’roll” and went on to tell an anecdote about his time in the studio with Kurt Cobain.

“I can’t tell you how many bands I have worked with who would bring up Martin’s production techniques, there was a point where I wanted Kurt Cobain to double-track his vocals on a song when we were recording Nevermind, and he was reluctant to do so because he thought it sounded too fake and I said: ‘Well, John Lennon double-tracked his vocals.’ And as soon as I said that, Kurt said: ‘OK.’ He pretty much double-tracked all the vocals after that.”

Paul McCartney led the beautiful tributes to Martin stating his upmost sadness to hear about Martin’s passing. He ended his speech by declaring “if anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle, it was George. Martin passed away on Tuesday night as confirmed by his family and asked for privacy at the current time.

Record Store Day is an annual celebration held to appreciate the culture of the independently owned record stores around the world which takes place on the third Saturday of April annually and this year, two classic Bowie picture discs sets are being re-issued in commemoration of the recently passed legend (via Gigwise).

According to Pitchfork, the two Bowie re-issues will be released in the form of ‘Station to Station’ single ‘TVC15′ and the beautiful 1970’s album ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ which is said to be reissued with the original German Artwork. The information was released through David Bowie’s official Facebook page.

Other features on the popular annual celebration this year includes Metallica who were announced as official global ambassadors and furthermore, John Malkovish joined forces with various remixes of the actor reading an interpretation of Plato’s Cave Allegory alongside Yoko Ono and The Dandy Warhols. The LP was released on November 27th at the Record Store Day’s Black Friday event and will be re-released on April 16th.

Previously, an announcement was made that Bowie had planned various posthumous released prior to his death what would be ‘divided into different eras. Even more, it is also reported that there are a total of five unheard songs from his final album Blackstar that are yet to be released and that Bowie had started demoing new tracks for one more album in the weeks prior to his unfortunate death.

British electronica trio Years & Years have taken the music scene by storm recently with major hits including ‘Desire’, ‘King’ and ‘Take Shelter’ and now they have released a pro-LGBT music video reworking their popular track ‘Desire’ which features guest vocals from the ‘Habits’ singer Tove Lo. ‘Desire’ originally featured on their debut album in 2015 which went straight to Number One upon its initial release last July, making it a successful debut to their music career.

Frontman and vocalist Olly Alexander featured an accompanying message to their fans saying that his intentions were to “celebrate all different kinds of sexuality and queer identities”.

The open letter consisted of context to the video, discussing the different types of sexualities and identities that deserve as much recognition as heterosexual romance in music videos.

Most of the pop videos I’ve seen that have any male and female interaction are usually centred around a romance, and that’s great, I am all for romance, but let’s face it there are a lot of other sexualities and identities that are well deserving of some shiny pop video love. I’ve been wanting to make a video with some of my queer family for a long time and ‘Desire’ felt like the right time to do it… Pop music has a pretty good track record of embracing queer culture, it’s been a safe place for some of our most visible queer icons, we have more out and open non-straight stars than ever before.

The music video is an artistic piece featuring scenes of Alexander getting intimate and close up with members of the same sex with eye-capturing shots of the lead singer and Tove Lo performing the track.

The message he attached to the video provided a powerful stance and inspiring statement towards the LGBT community, read the rest of the message down below:

“I love pop (obviously) so, why is it that in 2016, a pop video featuring people expressing their sexuality who aren’t cis-gendered or heterosexual, feel at all unusual or progressive? Well for a lot of people, it doesn’t- they live and think outside of the societal binary most of us are used to, but for a lot of other people, myself included, it does. It shouldn’t, but it does.”

“So yeah, gay people have sex, and it’s not just gay people, it’s all kinds of people! All these non-straight people, they’re out there, having sex! Sex, between two consenting adults, can be a healthy, positive, safe and enjoyable thing!”

“As a teenager I was inspired by stars who I felt were doing just that,” the singer continues. “They were almost exclusively women; Madonna, Destiny’s Child, Alanis Morissette, Britney and Whitney – they asserted or acknowledged their sexuality in varying and different ways and to me they were ways that felt powerful… Women in pop music are expected to be sexy, most of the time they don’t have any choice – I have the privilege of choice. I chose to make this video about sex, to portray myself as a sexual character. I choose this because I do not want to hide or limit my sexuality, I want to make videos and songs and art that celebrate all different kinds of sexuality and queer identities.”

The British alternative rock band The 1975 have shown signs of an upcoming success with their second studio album ‘I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ and from the looks of it look like they will be getting their first US No.1 album, beating Macklemore in the process. (via Billboard)

The band released their second record on the February 26th after the success of their debut self-titled album in 2013. Naturally their new album is already on it’s way to the top of the chart in the UK with their extremely huge UK fan base who eagerly anticipated new material from the band for 3 years.

According to a report from Billboard, The 1975 are expected to reach Number One in the States, beating Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to the top spot with an estimated 100,000 equivalent album units expected to sell in comparison to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis who are expected to reach the 50,000 unit mark with ‘This Unruly Mess I’ve Made.

This is a dramatic improvement for the rising band in the US scene as their debut album peaked at Number 28 upon its release in 2013 however with their second studio album, four singles from the long-titled second studio album have already reached the Top 20 in America including ‘Love Me’, ‘Ugh!’, ‘The Sound’ and ‘Somebody Else’).

Aside from their success in the US charts, they have also performed twice on US TV in recent months, firstly appearing on Saturday Night Live and then on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show.

In an interview with NME, frontman Matt Healy admitted that he believes “the world needs” the band’s new album.

I’m challenging people to sit through an hour and 15 minutes and 17 songs that all sound completely different from each other, it’s quite an emotional investment. It’s art. It’s what I want to do. The world needs this album.

The 1975 are set to go on tour in the UK this month on the following dates:

American rock band Blink-182 recently announced the departure of their frontman Tom Delonge due to ‘internal conflicts’ within the band and drummer Travis Barker has not held back when it comes to how he feels about his (ex)fellow band member and his intentions. (via NME)

In an interview with Youtuber Mr.Wavvy, Barker states how Tom Delonge wanted the group to sound more like U2 and Coldplay on their last album and he certainly didn’t hold back saying Delonge was “basically just tapped out of ideas” and was “being extremely difficult” before his departure of the band.

“Mark [Hoppus] and I never wanted to change,” he explained, saying that DeLonge wanted to switch-up Blink-182’s youthful sound. “The last couple of albums, Tom wanted to sound like U2, to record songs that basically sound like Coldplay.” The drummer made sure he conveyed his precise emotions towards the situation, defending the origins and unique sound of the band that brought them to their fame in the first place.

“For us, we were always like ‘Blink is Blink, man. We want to sound like f**king Blink-182,’” he continued. “That’s what side-projects are for. I love Blink for what it is. We love Blink and we love the sound of Blink.”

The band replaced Tom DeLonge with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba last year to continue the legacy of the pop-punk trio. Barker reffered to Skiba as “the only person that could fill in for DeLonge and that the new music they were in the process of recording for the new album “sounds different but still the same”. He describes their music as “eternal youth for a lot of fans” and is adamant for the band to stay true to their roots, he promises that the new material will still convey eternal youth and the true Blink 182 sound with a refreshing twist.

In an interview with NME last year, Barker admitted that things are obviously not the same but that it’s okay because the new music they have produced is just a development of the true Blink 182 sound: “Obviously, it’s Matt Skiba singing so there’s hints of Alkaline Trio, or at least Matt’s contributions to Alkaline Trio, mixed with my drumming and Mark’s voice and stuff. It’s really cool and I really love what we’ve done so far.”

So will the bands new material continue the Blink 182 pop-punk legacy or will 1/3rd of the original Blink 182 trio make all the difference to the sound they became well known for? Watch the full interview down below:

Recent comeback garage MC Craig David has hit the music scene hard with unique garage reworks of popular songs, outstanding collaborations and his latest hit ‘When The Bassline Drops’ which is set to be part of his first new album since 2010 titled ‘Following My Intuition’ (via NME).

Now Craig David has uploaded a photo of himself to his Instagram account captioned ‘BornToReDoIt @beatsbydre #FollowingMyIntuition’ referring to his iconic 2000 debut album ‘Born To Do It’ which took the UK charts by storm, reaching Number One in the UK Albums Chart upon its initial release with a total of 225,320 copies being sold in its first week alone. To this day, this record is still the fastest-selling debut album by a British male solo act.

The new artwork was released in order to promote Craig David’s cover and rework of Jack Garratt’s ‘Breathe Life’ which can be viewed at the bottom of this article.

So what’s the next step for Craig David? Recently, he has discussed plans to work on a mixtape with current rap icon Drake saying that he knows “it would be fire” and that it will come “when the time is right”.

At the Brit Awards last week, David stated to NME: “When I met him in Miami, at that point I was already saying ‘Listen, it would be natural for us to do something’. There’s so many similarities in the style and the things we do.”

The comeback star continued: “He recognised [David’s debut album] ‘Born To Do It’ as a record that was pivotal in his career and I was recognising all his mixtapes that he was doing. Drake and myself, a mix tape, I know that it would be fire. I know that fans would be like “Ooh, you did those melodies and those kind of rides”. He knows. When the time is right, it will come.”

In 2013, British metalcore and alternative rock band Bring Me The Horizon released their well-received album ‘Sempiternal’ which hit No.3 on the UK album charts and No.1 on the UK rock charts with the iconic logo of the ‘Flower of Life’ which soon became identifiable when affiliated with the band.

However, recently in December 2015, Coldplay released their seventh studio album ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’ which peaked at No.2 on the UK album charts behind Adele’s ’25’. Their album artwork also consisted of the Flower of Life which in turn created public controversy over imitation and copyrights when Oli Sykes tweeted: “@coldplay Jackin our steez hard”

The flower of life is obviously not something Bring Me The Horizon created but it is something that is heavily affiliated with the band. In an interview with MTV, Oli Sykes stated:

At the end of the day it’s not our symbol, it’s a very old symbol. They might not have known at first, but obviously if you Google ‘flower of life’ the first thing that comes up is ‘Bring Me The Horizon—Sempiternal,’ it’s like, if you Google the images, someone’s gonna have said something to them, so whether it was intentional or not, it is the same,

At the NME awards that took place on February 17th, the rock band along with frontman Oli pulled the biggest stunt of the night by jumping onto and completely trashing Coldplay’s table during their performance of their hit ‘Happy Song’, sending glasses and wine bottles flying and completely destroying the table they were sitting at. The dramatic stunt can only emphasise the rumoured feud between Bring Me The Horizon and Coldplay over the album artwork but keyboardist of BMTH Jordan Fish spoke to NME and told them that the stunt was planned to be done at the nearest table when performing and it was all down to coincidence:

I don’t think [Oli] was aiming for Coldplay. It was just whoever was nearest, it [just] happened to be Coldplay.

The best pictures from the live performances – #NMEAwards2016 with Austin, Texas https://t.co/cbT1YwK88x pic.twitter.com/ViI8nr8jFt

But surely Oli Sykes would not completely trash a table Adele was sitting at if it was truly planned for it to be the nearest table? Fans worldwide are stating that even though it could have been a coincidence, Oli did enjoy trashing their table a little too much considering it was hardly even a table by the end of the performance. Are there still hard feelings between the two bands over the controversy of their album artwork? Or will they learn to deal with the fact that some things just have to be shared sometimes? Watch the video of the trashing taking place filmed by Youtuber Zoe London at the NME awards down below.

Recently, Craig David has made a huge comeback to the music scene with his hit “When The Bassline Drops” featuring Big Narstie, but this isn’t all for the Garage MC. Craig has managed to bring back garage to the UK scene but with a twist – so far we’ve seen him impress us with two amazing Justin Bieber hit covers that have been reworked with an impressively catchy UK garage vibe. Now he’s done it again with the latest hit from popular girl group Little Mix.

The 34-year-old producer has turned their latest hit “Secret Love Song” into an up-beat bouncy garage number that takes us back to the 2000’s. What’s great about Craig David’s impressive covers is that he gives the younger generation that includes Little Mix and Justin Bieber fans the chance to hear what Garage music sounds like and how it needs to make a comeback to the music scene majorly.

”I had heard it in the car and I thought this is a huge song,” said the Garage MC when he went on Capital Breakfast with Dave Berry to perform his latest Garage rework.
“It is going to be a hit whatever happens, but I was just like any cover I want to do I can’t just do the same thing.”
“I could sing it but if I can make it move in a different direction and, especially because I love going out and playing and doing my TS5 shows, I want to be able to play out the cover rather than I just did a little acoustic thing.”
His new cover follows his recent new deal with Sony Music’s Insanity Records that he signed ahead of his brand new album that is to be dropped later on this year. His new album will be his sixth studio album and will be titled ‘Following My Intuition’. We’ve already heard one of the singles from his upcoming album ‘When The Bassline Drops’ which peaked within the Top 10 on iTunes and reached No.12 on the Official UK chart, cementing his comeback in the UK charts.

2016 has only just begun and Craig David has already started killing the music scene, expect more Garage covers from the legendary Garage MC and a (what’s to be expected) killer album to be dropped later on this year that will hopefully mark the return of garage in the music scene.

Iconic Swedish pop group ABBA have just reunited for the first time since 2008 with a rare public appearance together at the opening of a new restaurant called ‘Mamma Mia! The Party’. This is the first time that all four of the Stockholm-formed pop group have been in the same place at the same time together in 8 years. (via NME)

ABBA became really popular in the UK due to the Eurovision Song Contest that was hosted at the Dome in Brighton in 1974, ever since then they became the first band to come from a non-English speaking country that dominated the charts in the UK and other English-speaking countries globally with their hit ‘Waterloo’. In the late 70’s- early 80’s, ABBA rose to fame in the UK with their compilation album ‘Greatest Hits’ which hit number one in the UK and now they continue to be adored by people globally even after they split up. They then went on to sell 380 million records since around the world.

The four members – Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad told journalists (according to The Guardian) that “We are here to party” when asked why they decided to make a public appearance now for the first time in almost a decade. They also unfortunately announced that it was unlikely that the four would perform together live again. Fans have been waiting and wishing for an ABBA reunion for decades, last year Björn Ulvaeus stated that the band will never reform. “We took a break in ’82, and it was meant to be a break,” he said. “It’s still a break and will remain so. You’ll never see us onstage again.” He went on to say “We don’t need the money, for one thing,” ending his statement with “Usually the reason bands have reunions is that one of them is destitute and the others want to help. Fortunately that has not happened to us.”

Even though an actual ABBA reunion is off the table when it comes to music, they will still continue to be a legacy around the world, and for the meantime, these 16 seconds of reunited ABBA joy will have to be enough!
