Popstar Dua Lipa has revealed that her new single, titled “Houdini”, will drop next Thursday on 9 November. The 28-year-old singer, who released the single “Dance The Night” from the Barbie movie soundtrack earlier this year, began teasing the new track earlier this month.

Now, the star has officially confirmed that new music is on the way. In a post shared on her Instagram, which boasts up to 88 million followers, the “New Rules” musician shared the cover art for “Houdini.” The post, which has over a million likes, took fans and other stars by storm.

Former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello wrote: “hot”, whilst Mexican starlet Eiza Gonzalez said: “Here she comes again!!” followed by a fire emoji. Popstars Normani, Tinashe and TikTok star Addison Rae, who released her debut EP in the summer, also shared their support by liking the post.

Fans of the “Levitating” star were also sharing their buzzing excitement over the news. One person commented: “She’s about to break the internet again, can’t wait!”, and another fan wrote: “BABY LET THE GAMES BEGINNNNNNN!”

The star, who has mostly centered her music around disco and dance pop, spoke about what fans can expect from her up-coming album. In an interview with T Magazine, the star revealed that her latest record is inspired by “1970s-era psychedelia”. Meanwhile, in an interview with Vogue, the “Cold Heart” singer said: “I’ve definitely grown up. Overall, whether it’s sonically or in terms of the themes, I’ve matured. It’s like I’m coming into my power and not afraid to talk about things. It’s about understanding what I want.”

Lipa’s upcoming third album will follow from the success of her 2020 record, Future Nostalgia. The album, which has more than 10 billion streams on Spotify, produced the hit singles “Physical”, “Break My Heart” and the lead track “Don’t Start Now.” The sophomore album received praise from critics and publications across the world and was ranked by GQ as the best album of 2020.

Since then, the star has gone on to release droplet singles. In 2021, Lipa teamed up with Elton John and collaborated on the smash single “Cold Heart”, which won the Top Dance/Electronic Song at the Billboard Music Awards a year later. This year, Lipa released “Dance The Night” from the 2023 Barbie movie soundtrack, which also became another hit in the popstar’s discography.

Global icon Bruce Springsteen and backing band, E Street Band, have announced their UK dates for their world tour, which began earlier this year. The rockstars will begin the UK leg of the tour in May of next year and will see the group perform in various cities, including Wembley Stadium in July. Pre-sale tickets will be available tomorrow on 1 November at 10 am for the Cardiff and London shows.

Springsteen revealed the news on his Instagram. The 74-year-old megastar, who has earned 20 Grammy Awards and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, said in a caption: “Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band delivered “the greatest show on earth” (Billboard) across Europe this past summer, and they’ll make a triumphant return to the continent in 2024 with a just-announced 22-show stadium run.”

Fans of the megastar flooded the comments with their buzzing excitement. One person wrote: “Great news! Thanks so much my musical father!”, and another person said in tongue and cheek: “The hope I needed in my life but I also have no money.”

Last month, Springsteen revealed that he was recovering from ulcer disease, forcing him and the E Street Band to postpone and reschedule certain dates of the tour. Springsteen said: “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”

The world tour sees the rock band and Springsteen perform various hit songs, including “Because the Night” and “Glory Days”, whilst also performing tracks from the 2020 album Letter to You and 2022 record Only the Strong Survive.

The 2020 LP is Springsteen’s twentieth studio album and became an instant success among the masses and critics. The album topped the charts in over 14 countries, including the UK, which ended on the 2020 year-end chart performance at number 31. The record, which features hit singles “Ghosts” and the album title, received rave reviews from numerous publications such as The Independent, who gave the album five stars and said that it “comes as close to the electricity of live music as it gets.”

Lead singer of You Me At Six said in a press release about the event: “Looking forward to returning to Slam Dunk this year to headline the festival. Slam Dunk has given You Me At Six so much over our career & we’ve got a lot of special memories from performing there over the years. The line-up is stacked with great artists, so will be an elite one.”

Fans of You Me At Six, who released their eighth studio album earlier this year titled Truth Decay, shared their excitement over the news on X. One person said: “Already my favorite slam dunk”, whilst another person commented: “favorite band headlining my favorite festival.” The group first performed at the festival in 2007 alongside Paramore, Reel Big Fish and Mad Caddies.

Since 2006, the Slam Dunk Festival has celebrated rock and punk artists from all over the world. This year, the festival treated the audience to performances by legendary punk group The Offspring, British band Enter Shikari and Billy Talent. However, the festival received criticism over issues of health and safety concerns – including overflowing toilets.

In a report, Slam Dunk Festival organizers said: “Thank you for giving us the time to fully investigate the events of the Slam Dunk Festival 2023. We have taken that time to work with our internal team and many external partners, firstly to work out why things went wrong and then find solutions and improvements for next year. Please let us be clear that we are not trying to pass the blame of anything to other people, we are simply telling the truth about what caused those issues, so you can be assured we have identified the problem and therefore are able to fix it.”

“We would like to stress that we take full accountability for everything that happened on the day, and we are so sorry that some people didn’t have the experience that they should have. We hope you give us the chance to change that.”

Organizers of the event have promised a change for next year’s show, including 25% extra toilets and additional taps at all waterpoints.

Former Manchester United star player Eric Cantona, who played for the club from 1992 to 1997, will hit the road to celebrate the release of his EP, I’ll Make My Own Heaven. The multi-talented star will begin his sold-out shows in Manchester for two nights and for another two nights in London next week.

Cantona, who released his debut song “The Friends We Lost” back in June, spoke to the BBC’s Colin Paterson about this surprising new career route. He said: “I always had this dream to go on stage and to be in front of people, because the show is something that we make together.”

Watch Cantona in Liam Gallagher’s hit single “Once.”

The star also confirmed that his debut record will be a live album, which will be recorded during his tour shows. He said: “The audience, if they are in a good mood, a bad mood, we all use the energy of each other. These 20 tracks were built to be on stage. It’s why I wanted to do a live album first. It will be finished like the last touch on a painting.”

The 57-year-old icon also sees himself in high regard and would want legendary band The Rolling Stones to support him. When asked who he would consider to be a supporting act to, Cantona jokingly said: “I am a headliner. It’s why I cannot understand you. Maybe The [Rolling] Stones can support me.”

Cantona also spoke about his passion for music. He said: “When I was a kid, I had two passions: for art and sport. So I started with football, better I think. Now I can sing until the end of my life. I have a deep need of expressing myself.” The French-born star explained that it was during lockdown that he began to learn how to play guitar, which led him to write songs in both English and French. The star continued: “English is a really musical language. French not so musical.”

When asked what his musical ambition is, Cantona had one clear answer. He said: “My only goal is a moment with the fans, this live moment. We will create something special. That’s it. I don’t want to be famous. I’m famous since I was born,” he chuckled.

Cantona released his debut EP earlier this week. The record features four songs, which includes his singles “The Friends We Lost” and the album title.

Pop singer Charli XCX, whose hits include “Boom Clap” and “I Love It”, has taken to her social media to defend her new collaboration with Sam Smith. The “In The City” track, which features Grammy winner Sam Smith, will be released this Thursday as Charli XCX’s new single for her upcoming album.

However, fans of the “Speed Drive” star were left displeased with the decision to include Smith on the record. In a TikTok that was posted a few days ago by XCX, which confirmed the duo’s collaboration, many expressed that the “Unholy” singer should not be featured in the song. One user wrote: “Charli I want the version just yours”, whilst another person commented: “In The City ft Charli XCX and Charli XCX only please.”

@charlixcx this one is really cute and fun and i’m so lucky to have @Sam Smith ♬ In The City – Charli XCX & Sam Smith

Despite the negativity, XCX has hit back against those who were unimpressed with the choice to include Smith. The 35-year-old musician has now defended Smith in a new TikTok post. She said: “I’m about to release a song with Sam Smith and the experience so far has been really interesting because never in my life have, I seen somebody receive so many hateful comments. It’s been really disheartening, but at the same time I’m so proud of Sam’s ability to withstand that – because I know I certainly couldn’t.”

@charlixcx♬ original sound – Charli XCX

The star continued: “So I just want to say Sam, I love you. I love our song together and I’m in awe of your strength.”

The sweet message to Smith, who featured in XCX’s “Speed Drive” video in the summer, led to an array of fans to also leave kind words. One person wrote: “I love Sam Smith more than I can express. Their existence and persistence in this world is a guiding light for my own”. Meanwhile another person said: “The hate is so unnecessary, so excited for this new track from you guys!”

Listen to “Speed Drive.”

“In The City” will mark the first collaboration between the two artists. Smith, who released his fourth studio album Gloria earlier this year, has been at the centere of public scrutiny over the past year. This has come because of a change in Smith’s evolution as an artist and performer. At the 2023 Brit Awards, the star received backlash over his performance of his smash hit “Unholy”, which featured singer Kim Petras. The performance, which received over 100 Ofcom complaints, faced a similar reception when the duo performed at the Grammys a week prior. The Grammy performance has led to many conservative US politicians branding the two as “satanic” and “evil”.

Watch the “Unholy” performance at the Grammys.

However, this outrage did not affect the song’s commercial success. The track has gone on to receive multiple Platinum certifications across the world and was certified Diamond in France.

The new song, which will be released next week, will mark the first collaboration for Charli XCX and Smith. Smith, who released his fourth studio album Gloria earlier this year, appeared in Charli XCX’s music video “Speed Drive” for the 2023 Barbie movie. The video, which has just under four million views on YouTube, received a positive reception. One person wrote: “The fact that she keeps her hyper pop/car aesthetic intact whilst adapting her music to her audience is actual talent”, whilst another person commented: “Charli XCX does it again. Kinda had this on repeat many times at this point.”

Charli XCX, who had teased the song last week on her Instagram, is gearing up for her next album. The “Fancy” singer, who earned the star the 2015 NME Award for Dancefloor Filler, released her last studio LP in 2022. Crash, the singer’s fifth album, became the star’s first album to top the UK Albums Chart with over 16 thousand copies sold in its first week. Across the pond, the album debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 with over 31 thousand copies sold – becoming the 31-year-old “Boom Clap” singer’s highest charting album in the US.

Whilst it remains to be seen if the star will top the success of her fifth studio album, the singer has been working on her next album. Last month, the star had shared several photos and a video on her Instagram in a gallery – and captioned the post “album 6 I guess.” The post, which received over 241 thousand likes, had fans buzzing with anticipation over her next project.
