The double Mercury Prize winner will play two dates in each city on her journey. Commencing at 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on the 22nd September, Polly Jean will perform at Barrowland in Glasgow, The Roundhouse in London, and The Albert Hall in Manchester on her tour. She will then travel to Europe playing in Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Zurich, Prague, Berlin, Warsaw, Copenhagen, and close the tour in Oslo on Halloween.

The alternative chamber folk singer-songwriter unveiled her plans for the tour to her community mailing list this morning (7th June) prior to social media.

A limited number of presale tickets will be available Wednesday 14th June 10 am BST to those who pre-order Harvey’s new album I Inside The Old Year Dying from the official store which you can access here. For members of the mailing list community tickets will be on presale at Thursday 15th June from 10 am BST. Sign up to PJ’s mailing list here. General sale will begin on Friday 16th June. See here for tickets.

Alongside this announcement came the haunting title track from PJ’s upcoming album. The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña. Watch the video below:

“This delicate and beautiful song eluded us until the very last day in the studio,” Harvey revealed in a press release. “Over the previous five weeks we had tried so many times to capture it and failed, but then John reinvented the feel of the guitar pattern. As he was demonstrating it in the control room, Flood handed me a microphone and pressed record whilst I sat next to John trying to work out how to sing to it. The result somehow captures the ethereal and melancholic longing I was looking for.”

Back in April, PJ Harvey ended her musical hiatus by sharing the ethereal and hypnotic single “A Child’s Question, August” as well as announcing the news of her 10th studio album. Watch the video for the track directed by Steve Gullick below:

I Inside the Old Year Dying will be released on 7th July via Partisan Records. The record is the follow up to 2016’s The Hope Six Demolition Project and was produced and mixed by her long-time collaborators John Parrish and Flood. On Instagram, PJ wrote, “After many years of work I am very happy to release this collection of new songs. It was a difficult album to make and took time to find its strongest form, but it has finally become all I hoped for it to be.”

With all thirteen of their studio albums charting in the top 40 in the UK, the band from the West Midlands are decade-spanning indie darlings of the UK. Their 1990 debut album, Some Friendly, reached number one in the UK upon its release and has been certified Gold by the BPI.

The current formation of The Charlatans sees Tim Burgess as lead vocalist, Mark Collins on guitar, Martin Blunt on bass, and Tony Rogers on keys. Sadly, the band’s former drummer Jon Brookes passed away back in 2014.

Different Days, the band’s last studio record, was released six years ago on BMG. The neo-psychedelia record in Chester and produced by the band and Jim Spencer (Johnny Marr, The Cribs, New Order, The Vaccines, Echo and the Bunnymen). Paul Weller, New Order’s Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Morris, Johnny Marr, The Verve’s Peter Salisbury, novelist Ian Rankin, and actress Sharon Horgan are just some of the creatives featured on the record.

Former Britpop stars from bands Happy Mondays, Oasis, and Ride have teamed up to form the supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos and have dropped their psychedelic debut single “Gorilla Guerilla” on the 6th May.

Happy Monday and Black Grape members Shaun Ryder and Bez have teamed up with former Oasis and The Who drummer Zak Starkey, and Oasis bassist and Ride guitarist Andy Bell to form the supergroup.

On the chaotic and fun-filled single “Gorilla Guerilla” Ryder’s cries of “Gorilla!” echo over Bez’s energetic maracas, repetitive guitar riffs, and thumping drum beats. Released alongside the hallucinogenic single is a colourful animated music video created by Ryder’s son Olli. Watch the trippy video for “Gorilla Guerilla” below:

Mantra of Cosmos features baggy icon Shaun Ryder on vocals, Welsh musician Andy Bell on guitar, Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey on drums, and everyone’s favourite cheeky chappy Bez on percussion.

Ryder revealed the group’s formation to The Sun in early May spilling to the publication that the band had been secretly working on a debut album that would be “coming out very soon”. The 90s star continued, “It doesn’t sound like the Mondays or Black Grape or Oasis or The Who, it’s what we’re doing all together.”

Channel 4 herded together the fantastic four for a TV interview in which Bez revealed, “for the first time ever I’ve actually got maracas solos”! Watch the whole interview here.

The band announced the stretch of dates on social media with the caption, “For the first time ever – playing #Bossanova & #TrompeLeMonde in their entireties + others from the catalogue, 3 night residencies in intimate venues.”

The noisy American alt-rock band will be taking their classic 90s albums on the road in March next year. The band will start with a three-day residency at the Olympia in Dublin on the 8th March, then play three shows at the Albert Hall in Manchester starting on the 12th March, and before playing three consecutive dates at the O2 Forum Kentish Forum in London starting on the 16th March.

They will then travel to Amsterdam playing three shows at the Paradiso and conclude the tour in Paris with a residency at the L’Olympia.

Tickets will be on sale from Friday 9th June at 9 am BST / 10 am CET. For tickets see here.

Nearly 33 years ago, Pixies released their third studio album Bossanova on 4AD featuring the two energetic singles “Velouria” and “Dig for Fire”. The record reached number 3 in the UK and 70 on the US Billboard 200. Listen to the single “Velouria” below:

The following year the band released Trompe de Monde also produced by Gil Norton and released via 4AD. The critically adored album is the last Pixies record to feature bassist Kim Deal and the last album recorded before the band’s decade-long hiatus. Stand-out tracks include “Alec Eiffel” about the engineer who designed the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty, “Letter to Memphis” Black Francis’ take on Chuck Berry’s song “Memphis, Tennessee”, and the band’s upbeat cover of the Jesus and Mary Chain’s “Head On”. Listen to the cheeky single “Alec Eiffel” below:

Currently, Black Francis and the gang are embarking on the second leg of their North America in support of their latest and eighth studio album Doggerel. This March the band completed the European and UK leg of the tour at The Roundhouse in London. Released last year, the album was recorded during the pandemic in an eco-friendly studio in Gulliford and produced by English producer Tom Dalgety. The album included the three singles “There’s a Moon On“, “Vault of Heaven“, and “Dregs of Wine“. Listen to the album’s lead single “There’s a Moon On” below:

Pixies now consists of lead singer Black Francis, Joey Santiago on lead guitar, David Lovering on drums, and Paz Lenchantin on bass. In March last year, the band broke their 2 year long hiatus to drop the non-album single “Human Crime“.

Ships will be premiering on the 21st October as the centrepiece of the 2023 Venice Biennale Musica. Eno will then play shows in prestigious venues in Berlin, Paris, and Utrecht before closing the tour with two performances at 6:30 pm and 9 pm for the Royal Festival Hall in London on 30th October.

Tickets will go on general sale from Thursday 8th June. Members of the Southbank Centre can access the ticket presale from 10 AM BST on Wednesday 7th June. For more information see here.

Eno will be performing with Baltic Sea Philharmonic, orchestrated and conducted by Kristjan Järvi as commissioned by La Biennale di Venezia. At the Biennale Musica, Eno will be honoured with the Golden Lion lifetime achievement award “for his research into the quality, beauty and diffusion of digital sound and for his conception of the acoustic space as a compositional instrument” according to the event’s page.

Eno toured with Roxy Music in the 70s but has since rarely played live only playing one-off shows or at festivals. Brian and his brother Roger played together at Acropolis, Athens back in 2021 as part of the annual Epidaurus Festival. The concert was filmed and screened in cinemas across the UK for one night only on the 2nd March earlier this year.

Originally Eno didn’t plan on making The Ship a record. “The way the whole piece started out was not as a record but as an installation,” Eno told Entertainment Weekly back in 2016. When a friend of Eno’s asked him for a recording of the installation in Stockholm he started thinking of making The Ship an album. “It took me by surprise a little bit,” he continued. “I wasn’t planning it as my next record project when I started it.”

On the third track “Fickle Sun (ii) The Hour Is Thin”, Eno used a Markov chain generator to create the lyrics spoken by Peter Serafinowicz by mixing “dirty songs by First World War soldiers” with “accounts written from the lifeboats by people watching the Titanic sinking” and “part of a book about the blitz over London”. The result is an eerie and twisted lullaby. Listen to the track below:

Last month Eno collaborated with British DJ Fred Again.. on the surprise LP Secret Life. The album was released on electronic artist Four Tet’s label Text Records and was dubbed by the artist “the most beautiful album of 2023”.

Last October, the Field Maneuvers organisers launched a Crownfunder page asking attendees and rave lovers to help save the independent festival after last year’s event failed to break even. Thankful the campaign received huge support from the community and the festival managed to reach its target of £40,000 before its deadline ensuring the future of the festival is safe.

Neo-psychedelia band Temples have announced a 24-date autumn European and UK tour in support of their recently released fourth album Exotico. The indie darlings will be travelling around the continent this September and October and will play six dates in the UK.

The band from Kettering will begin the tour in Leeds on the 7th September, before playing in Manchester, Nottingham, London, Bristol, and Brighton. They’ll also be playing gigs in France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland this autumn concluding in Nürnberg on the 6th October.

Temples will also be playing several festivals this summer including Musilac in France and Summer Well Festival in Romania. For tickets and more information see here. Last July, Temples supported Pearl Jam for their second day headlining the BST Hyde Park festival.

The band took to social media to share their excitement writing, “EUROPE our EXOTICO tour is now LIVE! we can’t wait to see you all in September & October”.

Exotico, Temples’ fourth studio album, was released on the 14th April via ATO. The 16-track LP was produced by Sean Ono Lennon and mixed by Dave Fridmann who has previously worked with many other psych acts including Beach House, Mercury Rev, The Flaming Lips, and MGMT. Full of funky, bass-heavy, synthy summery tunes, Exotico mixes “Acid House meets Arabic Dancefloor!” as bass guitarist Thomas Walmsley adequately put it to It’s Psychedelic Baby Magazine.

Listen to the lead single from the album “Gamma Rays” below:

Exotico took three years to be released and was a product of the pandemic. “Writing began in 2020, around when the world stopped moving,” Walmsley said. “We’d just had a tour cut short due to the pandemic and I guess as a musician you try to alter focus and throw yourself into writing, for better or for worse, we wrapped up recording in 2022. It’s definitely longer than we’d hoped to take, but I think the process ended up making the best record.”

Temples formed just over a decade ago as a home studio project. Lead singer James Bagshaw and Walmsley were originally in rival bands in their hometown but eventually teamed up to play in the band The Moons. The demos the duo uploaded to YouTube caught the attention of Heavenly Recordings founder Jeff Barrett who released the band’s debut single “Shelter Song” in 2012. Watch the video for “Shelter Song” below:

Their debut album, Sun Structures, reached number 7 in the UK in 2014 and their follow up three years, Volcano, later peaked at the 23rd spot.

Since then, the band has undergone a few revisions with the current lineup consisting of Bagshaw and Walmsley as well as Adam Thomas Smith on rhythm guitar and keyboards, and Rens Ottink on drums.

Blonde Redhead is back announcing their first album in 9 years will be out later this year. The band has announced their 10th studio LP Sit Down For Dinner will be out 29th September via section1 and also revealed an extensive winter tour in support of the album including dates in Europe and the UK.

The band has also shared the first track from the album. Listen below to the dreamy “Snowman”:

Keeping with the theme of the album, the band will also be hosting special dinners at select restaurants in Paris, London, New York and Los Angeles in September, offering fans chance to spend some time with the band over a meal.
Sit Down For Dinner was a product of lockdown written and recorded over a five-year period. In 2020, lead singer Kazu Makino reading a passage from Joan Didion’s 2005 memoir, ‘The Year of Magical Thinking’, was struck by Didion’s reflections on her devastating experience of witnessing her husband’s sudden death at the dinner table. Makino thought of her own lost ritual of congregating for dinner with family. The line “You sit down to dinner and life as you know it ends” eventually inspired the album’s title.

For the Pace brothers, family dinners also hold a cultural weight. “I know a lot of people eat and run, eat in front of their TV, or don’t care about it too much—and that’s OK—but we really do,” says Simone. “It’s a moment for us to sit down and have time with each other.” Pre-save the album here.

Alt-rock trio Blonde Redhead first formed in New York in 1993 when Italian twin brothers Amedeo and Simone Pace met Japanese art student Kazu Makino by chance in an Italian restaurant. The band has dipped their toes in noise rock, dream pop, shoegaze, and art rock throughout its discography. They’ve cultivated a loyal following and gained a resurge in popularity after the closing track to 2000’s Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons, “For the Damaged Coda”, was used in a Rick and Morty episode and became a viral meme.
