Speaking to The NME Flume explained how he and Hannah Reid wrote the record together saying “Hannah Reid and I wrote ‘Let You Know’ last summer. I was on a writing trip to London, was actually the same trip where I first met slowthai. Had been wanting to make something with Hannah for a long time and this one just came together really naturally in the studio that day.”

Explaining the recording process Hannah Reid continued to express how much of a delight it had been working with Flume (real name Harley Streten) saying “been trying to work together for years but it just never worked out. Working with Harley was an honour because he pushes the boundaries of electronic music like nobody else. He’s the kind of electronic artist who will be around forever. I love our song we did together,”

Flume also took today to announce to confirm that he will be heading his first European shows in three years. As he’ll be taking to the stage to top the bill at Transgressive’s 15th birthday at Brixton Academy in London on the 12th Of November. Trangressive co-founder Toby L said of the booking “Harley has been working round the clock the past couple of years on his finest output yet and it’s a truly exciting prospect to see him come back to these shores to share his latest work – and a new show – with everyone. We’re currently in exciting discussions about who else will join the bill, but suffice to say, it’s going to be a legendary night at Brixton, one of the world’s best venues. We cannot wait.”

The birthday show headline gig will also form part of Flume’s European tour. The tour will see him play shows starting in Warsaw on October the 28th before moving on to Berlin, Turin, Frankfurt, Paris, Toulouse, Amsterdam, Antwerp & Luxembourg before playing London on the 12th of November and ending in Manchester on the 13th of November. Tickets go on sale of the 21st of June.

When discussing the music stolen and then subsequently released lead singer Tom Yorke said “It’s not v interesting. There’s a lot of it … as it’s out there it may as well be out there until we all get bored and move on.” The tracks have however received more praise online with fans praising the alternative versions of both “True Love Waits” and “Lift”

Discussing the tracks online one Reddit user said “When the band said they didn’t release it because they though they had another Creep-success level song, I wouldn’t believe them off the OKNOTOK version. But this version I could definitely see being a big radio tune. Reminds me a lot of Bitter Sweet Symphony or a thick layered Oasis song from around the period. It seems they played around with the song heaps before finally just leaving it off the record. Same for TLW and MPS, which unlike Lift were probably best left unreleased in those forms”

A spokesperson for the Extinction Rebellion was understandably delighted at the news saying “The climate and ecological emergency demands courage, truth-telling and generosity like never before. We are so grateful to Radiohead for showing us how that’s done, both now and in the lead-up to the April rebellion. Words are inadequate but actions do change the world.“

The band first discussed the hack on the website Reddit, saying that “We originally considered pooling our money together, as our enthusiasm over the rare opportunity to share material of such high historical interest for a band we love peaked, but were concerned about the ethics of the situation. According to the leaker, they got the whole 18 hours of material by trading some other rare/unreleased material for it.” The full hacked tracks can be listened to now, with full funds going towards the incredibly worthwhile and significant Extinction Rebellion.

Earlier in the week Matt Bellamy and The band had teased news of the announcement of new shows saying “Stay tuned for a major announcement about UK shows on Monday June 10th….” After their incredible Manchester show at the Etihad stadium. A show which saw Tom Morello, of Rage Against The Machine and Prophets Of Rage, come to the stage to perform with them.

Muse are currently touring their new album, also called Simulation Theory. Speaking before the tour Matt Bellamy said “Robots do appear at some point in the show, and, you know, they’re pretty threatening,I didn’t think we could go this far, but we’ve finally gone too far.At some point, you’ve got to find the limits of what you can do in a rock show. It feels like no one else is doing that in the world of guitar music. It feels pretty unique at the moment.”

The album itself also scored rave reviews across the media, with The NME describing it as “With space-age rockabilly and EDM machine gun beats, this bizarre new album sees Muse retreat from the real world and into a ‘Tron’-style pastiche of their own adolescence. You’ll be ashamed to tell anyone how much you love it” in a four star review.

The song in question features the lyrics “Tory genocide is a perfect outcome” and has been criticised for spreading a message of hate and aggression. The Jo Cox foundation said of the song that “The direct incitement of violence and abuse, on any platform and in any sector, is wrong. All of us need to call out this kind of language, until we return to a more civil way of being able to debate difference of opinions – without having to resort to threats and intimidation.” This then led to the decision from festival organisers to cancel their apperance and release the following statement.

Killdren told the BBC they were “disappointed” by the decision, defending the song as “crude satire” “The piece would not exist at all if the destructive and violent policies of the Tory party hadn’t taken such a long and devastating toll on the UK, The band does not condone the killing of Tories or children, or anyone for that matter – regardless of political beliefs.”  

“One glance at our website and the artwork that represents our music would surely indicate the cartoonish and over-the-top nature of everything we do “We are disappointed that Glastonbury and the Jo Cox Foundation were upset enough by our music and video that they cancelled our set, buckling under pressure from the right-wing media. We know that there are other acts on the line-up who are spreading a radical political message and hope the spirit of rebellion lives on at the festival.”

Fans were also quick to point out the potential irony and hypocrisy in Glastonbury’s decision, with previous bands with openly confrontational previous opinions headlining the festival. They also pointed out how over a week ago very few people had heard of Killdren and now they are national news all across different medias.

Describing the process of getting everyone together to write the album Barat said “We’ve been down and done a few writing sessions already but we’re going to sort of bed in and do something a bit less control freak this time, rather doing lots and compiling and seeing what’s working and what isn’t. But there will be quite a few stories around the corner I think.

The Albion Rooms is the studio in Bethnal Green where Carl Barat and Pete Doherty used to practice and record songs in Libertines’ early days. Barat is now leading a project to convert these into a public house and bar for fans & locals to come visit, admire art and share stories over a drink.

Speaking about this Barat said “I’ve got more ideas and ambitions than I could possibly ever achieve. You know, I think the art is not spreading yourself too thin. I spent two years trying to get this hotel, gallery, studio up and running… We are really close now, actually.”

“Sometimes it’s hard. It’s hard doing things by committee where you’ve other people to convince to do something and that’s tough. But I believe I’m acting on behalf of everyone. It’s the point now where I send an email round with a preface that’s of the kind of  ‘speak now or forever hold your piece’… I know a lot more than I did before about getting hotels together”

Barat is however excited for the projects first guests and to pour his first pint saying “We’ll strike up the jukebox or the band, you never know, I mean when everything is working in tandem we’ll have the studio going on for gigs, and the two bars – one of them being an art gallery sort of thing, and we’ll have residents – god bless their confused souls – coming down.” The full interview with Red Stripe is posted below.

Radio X also today reported the origins of the bands now iconic name, writing “The Libertines’ name was inspired by a controversial erotic work by the Marquis de Sade called The Lust of the Libertines, which was first published as part of his novel The 120 Days of Sodom- written in 1785.”

The film is based upon Elton’s early music career, focusing upon his internal conflicts both as a performer and a person. With explorations of his sexual life and relationships being a significant part of Elton’s life, and therefore the upcoming bio-pic. These significant scenes of discovery however have been cut from certain film distrubtors in Russia, leading to condemnation from the producers in Britain and The USA. 

In a full statement Paramount Pictures said ” We reject in the strongest possible terms the decision to pander to local laws and censor Rocketman for the Russian market, a move we were unaware of until today,Paramount Pictures have been brave and bold partners in allowing us to create a film which is a true representation of Elton’s extraordinary life, warts and all.”

“That the local distributor has found it necessary to edit out certain scenes, denying the audience the opportunity to see the film as it was intended is a sad reflection of the divided world we still live in and how it can still be so cruelly unaccepting of the love between two people. We believe in building bridges and open dialogue, and will continue to push for the breaking down of barriers until all people are heard equally across the world.”

The news was brought to our attention through a Facebook post from Russian reporter Anton Dolin. Who wrote that “all scenes with kissing, sex and oral sex between men have been cut out… The nastiest part is that the final caption has been removed from the finale.” (summarised and translated in The NME) Lead actor Taron Egerton also voiced his unhappiness today via Instagram, saying “I am crestfallen that the decision was made to censor our movie for the Russian market.I’m even more disappointed to hear about it secondhand today on the day of our domestic release. I in no way condone this decision and feel disappointed I wasn’t made aware and given the chance to fight this move. Love is love. No compromises.”

Rocketman however has been scoring great reviews across the board, scoring a 5 star review in The Guardian and currently sitting on 90% approval rating on rotten tomatoes. The best review however may have come from Mum’s net, who suggested the film could be the perfect accompaniment to the menopause.

A statement on the artist’s website reads “moby is canceling all upcoming public appearances for the foreseeable future.we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. all tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase, and moby is happy to provide signed bookplates to everyone who bought tickets to these events”. The NME describes Moby’s as “featuring a section in which the musician recounts The book features a section in which the musician recounts taking Natalie Portman for a drink and, later, kissing her while visiting her at Harvard”.  Portman however denies these suggestions saying that she found them both disturbing and a falsehood. Portman’s full statement reads “I was surprised to hear that he characterised the very short time that I knew him as dating because my recollection is a much older man being creepy with me when I just had graduated high school.” To which Moby responded by saying “I recently read a gossip piece wherein Natalie Portman said that we’d never dated. This confused me, as we did, in fact, date. And after briefly dating in 1999 we remained friends for years”. “I like Natalie, and I respect her intelligence and activism. But, to be honest, I can’t figure out why she would actively misrepresent the truth about our (albeit brief) involvement. The story as laid out in my book Then It Fell Apart is accurate, with lots of corroborating photo evidence, etc.” Days of criticism and negative press then followed until Moby’s tour cancellation this morning.

Moby has also been posting about the alleged relations via his Twitter pages. In a serious of 4 posts the artist tweeted his apologies for any misunderstandings about the section in his book containing Natalie Portman, however he was criticised for not truly apologising for this actions and for making the incident about himself. I certainly haven’t enjoyed this last week, but it’s reminded me of a couple of things. 1-our sense of self and well-being really shouldn’t come from the opinions of strangers. personally I think I’d become too reliant on external validation, especially in the form of social media. trust me, that has ended.. and: 2-my problems are tiny and insignificant, especially in a world where over 100 billion animals are killed by and for humans every year, and where we’re facing largely unprecedented environmental destruction and degradation. for a long time my primary goal has been to be a better, and more effective, activist. who knows, maybe the insanity of this last week will somehow help me to do that. it certainly does seem that for me(or any of us) to obsess over social media when the world is truly falling apart is an un-ethical waste of time. -moby p.s-a reminder; none of our concerns will matter if the climate keeps rising, the rainforest keeps disappearing, and species continue to go extinct. social media won’t sustain us in a world that doesn’t support human life.

As some time has passed I’ve realized that many of the criticisms leveled at me regarding my inclusion of Natalie in Then It Fell Apart are very valid. I also fully recognize that it was truly inconsiderate of me to not let her know about her inclusion in the book beforehand, and equally inconsiderate for me to not fully respect her reaction. I have a lot of admiration for Natalie, for her intelligence, creativity, and animal rights activism, and I hate that I might have caused her and her family distress. I tried to treat everyone I included in Then It Fell Apart with dignity and respect, but nonetheless it was truly inconsiderate for me to not let them know before the book was released. So for that I apologize, to Natalie, as well as the other people I wrote about in Then It Fell Apart without telling them beforehand. Also I accept that given the dynamic of our almost 14 year age difference I absolutely should’ve acted more responsibly and respectfully when Natalie and I first met almost 20 years ago. Moby

The band describe their new single as a “song is about the importance of the transformative, non-verbal moment – ecstasy as personal happiness, but also of transcendence, of being outside oneself” & a “bombastic explosion of Technicolor pop”. This explosion is certainly reflected in the Nina Nourizadeh directed video.

According to a statement from the band the new track began life as an “a 12-minute instrumental track featuring a sample from the gospel group the Mighty Clouds Of Joy evolved into a larger-than-life pop song“. The track is expected to be the opening track of their new Album “A Bath Full Of Ecstasy” which will be delivered with a worldwide tour this autumn

The track “Bullet From A Gun” is the symbolic of half of Skepta’s new project, whilst his other debuted track “Greaze Mode” demonstates the other half of Skepta’s range. Fans of the UK rapper, who’s last release was the incredible “Konnichiwa” will have plenty of opportunities to catch him live across Europe. He is headlining Field Day Festival in his hometown of London, as well as topping the alongside Yoko Ono at Manchester International Festival. The Jaded Hearts Club Band, a play on words of St Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, are a super-group made up of Matt Bellamy (Muse) Graham Coxon (Blur) Miles Kane (The Rascals & The Last Shadow Puppets) Nic & Chris Chester (Jet) Sean Payne (The Zutons) and James Davis (Solo Performer). Together they will form one of the most incredible Beatles tribute acts the world has even seen. The band have previously performed together last year, and fans are in for an absolute treat at the 100 Club this July.
