The release, aptly named ‘This Could Be A Remix Album’, features different bands covering tracks from English Teacher’s acclaimed debut studio album. ‘This Could Be Texas’ was released in April 2024 through Island Records and was met with critical acclaim.

The Line of Best Fit said that the ‘This Could Be Texas’ “could be one of the finest debuts of the decade, with every band member shining in their ability and craftsmanship”. Similarly, DIY called it an album that unfurls itself with each listen; it is neither easily categorised nor, you suspect, written with quickly-digestible earworms in mind.”

Judas Priest have unveiled a new version of Black Sabbath’s legendary track ‘War Pigs’, this time featuring a duet between frontman Rob Halford and Ozzy Osbourne. All proceeds from the single will go to Cure Parkinson’s and the Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation, raising funds and awareness for a cause close to the band’s heart.

For decades, ‘War Pigs’ has been an integral part of Judas Priest’s live shows, often serving as their walk-out song before they hit the stage. Its dark, anti-war message and thunderous riffs set the tone for the band’s high-octane performances, making the song a fitting anthem for their legacy in heavy metal. Now, rather than just using it as their dramatic introduction, Priest have recorded their own definitive version- made even more powerful with the voice of the man who first brought it to the world.

The collaboration carries special weight due to guitarist Glenn Tipton’s ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease. Tipton revealed his diagnosis in 2018, stepping back from touring but continuing to contribute in the studio. His guitar work features on this recording, symbolising his unbreakable bond with the band and his determination to keep creating music despite health challenges.

The project resonated deeply with Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, who both supported turning the track into a charity release. A press statement describes the single as a “monumental collaboration honouring the heavy metal icons Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath,” uniting two of the genre’s most influential forces.

Frontman Rob Halford has spoken passionately about the experience of trading lines with Ozzy on the track, calling it a career milestone: “What is cool and what is kind of waiting in the wings is Ozzy singing with me, doing ‘War Pigs’ together. We’ve been able to do that, it’s there – we’re just going through the rigamarole of legal clearance.”

He continued: “Ozzy’s singing a line and then I’m singing a line, and Ozzy’s singing a line and I’m singing a line. It’s the first ever time in my entire life that I’ve been able to do a duet with Ozzy, and I’m so eternally grateful and blessed that I was able to do that.”

The track can now be downloaded on all major streaming platforms and can be accessed via the link here.

Iron Maiden have confirmed a major UK headline show at Knebworth Park for summer 2026, as part of their 50th anniversary “Run For Your Lives” world tour. The concert will take place on Saturday, July 11, and will see the metal legends joined by The Darkness, The Hu, Airbourne and The Almighty.

The announcement follows last week’s unveiling of the band’s 2026 European stadium tour, which hinted at a landmark UK date. The Knebworth show marks Iron Maiden’s return to the historic Hertfordshire venue, famed for hosting career-defining performances from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and The Rolling Stones.

The event is set to run across the weekend, with proceedings beginning on Friday, July 10, for fans holding camping tickets. Alongside the live music, the site will host the largest-ever Eddie’s Dive Bar, Iron Maiden-themed food, and specially curated stalls designed to immerse fans in what the band describe as “Maiden World.”

Manager Rod Smallwood said the decision to stage the event at Knebworth was driven by fan demand and the desire to deliver a unique experience. “We knew that we had to bring the ‘Run For Your Lives’ show back to the UK again next summer as there was such a phenomenal demand for tickets this year,” he explained.

“But we wanted to do something a bit different, especially as it would be hard to top the show at London Stadium. Knebworth is the solution. It’s a legendary venue and gives us the space and control to create something very special for our fans.”

Smallwood also referenced Iron Maiden’s previous history at the site, recalling their headline appearances at Sonisphere Festival and Bruce Dickinson’s aerial dogfight display in a Fokker triplane to mark the World War I centenary. “This time, we will be taking over the whole of the grounds ourselves and turning it into as much of a ‘Maiden World’ as we can,” he added.

The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins expressed his excitement at joining the bill. “We’re thrilled to announce that The Darkness are to appear live in support of the legendary Iron Maiden at Knebworth,” he said. “Iron Maiden are among our favourite all-time bands.”

According to The Independent, the former US president and the first lady are due to arrive in the UK today (Tuesday, September 16). Their itinerary begins at Windsor Castle, where they will be hosted by King Charles and given a ceremonial welcome. On Thursday, September 18, they are scheduled to visit Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and his wife at Chequers, the official country residence in Buckinghamshire.

The trip has sparked widespread backlash, with a series of protests organised throughout the week. The Stop Trump Coalition will demonstrate on Windsor High Street this evening, while Wednesday, September 17, will see a large-scale march through central London, culminating in a mass rally at Parliament Square.

Among those throwing their weight behind the protests is Billy Bragg, who took to social media to promote the central London gathering and explain why he believes the visit represents a “humiliation” for the UK. Sharing a poster for the ‘National Demonstration Against Trump’s State Visit,’ he urged people to assemble tomorrow at Portland Place at 2pm before joining the rally at 5pm.

In his caption, Bragg wrote: “Donald Trump’s visit to the UK this week is a moment of national humiliation. He will regard the red carpet rolled out for him as an act of fealty that gives him the right to punish the UK should we do anything that displeases him.”

He continued: “Sucking up to bullies never pays off. They sense weakness and revel in exploiting it. This Wednesday, we have a chance to show not just that Trump is not welcome, but also that we reject the Trumpification of UK politics. I’ll be playing some songs at the Stop Trump rally in Parliament Square. Hope to see you there.”

Bragg has long been a prominent voice in British politics, frequently using his platform to engage with social and political issues. He was outspoken in his criticism of the Conservative Party during the 2024 general election and earlier this year released the single ‘Hundred Year Hunger’, expressing solidarity with Palestine and voicing support for Irish rap group Kneecap.

As Trump’s visit draws protestors to the streets, Bragg’s involvement underscores the enduring role of music and cultural figures in amplifying dissent. His presence at the rally not only reinforces his reputation as an artist-activist but also highlights the wider resistance among many in the UK who are determined to show Trump is not welcome.

Fans will also be able to hear the new version on digital platforms, and own it on 3LP, 2CD and Blu-ray.

The forthcoming reissue offers “an exciting new perspective into one of Pink Floyd’s most iconic and best-loved records” as publicised on a recent press release. The anniversary edition features six previously unreleased alternate versions and demos.

It also includes 25 bonus tracks made up of nine studio rarities, and 16 live recordings captured by the renowned bootlegger Mike Millard at Pink Floyd’s Los Angeles Sports Arena concert on April 26, 1975. The live audio has been meticulously restored and remastered by Steven Wilson. Elsewhere, the Blu-ray edition gives fans the chance to watch three live screen films from the band’s 1975 tour, as well as a Storm Thorgerson short film.

Alongside the collection are exclusive collectable merchandise including refillable lighters, tshirts and a stage crew jacket.

To celebrate the announcement of the album reissue, Pink Floyd have shared a previously unreleased and unheard early demo recording of ‘Welcome To The Machine’. The earlier demo displays the same atmospheric ambience that Pink Floyd became so recognisable for but also shows how far the track developed from the original demo.

A handwritten note listing David Bowie’s favourite songs has been unearthed in the archive set to open at the V&A East Storehouse in Hackney Wick in London this month.

The David Bowie Centre for the Study of Performing Arts will open its doors on September 13, showcasing more than 90,000 items from the late artist’s career. The collection – drawn from the David Bowie Estate and acquired with support from the Blavatnik Family Foundation and Warner Music Group – promises to trace Bowie’s creative processes as a musical innovator, cultural icon, and relentless advocate for reinvention.

Alongside stage costumes, handwritten lyrics and personal artefacts, archivists have discovered a note headed “Memo for radio show – list of favourite records”. The document reveals a selection of tracks that inspired and influenced Bowie, ranging from classical works to rock ’n’ roll, avant-garde and punk.

The list includes Alan Freed and His Rock ’N’ Roll Band’s ‘Right Now Right Now’, Jeff Beck’s ‘Beck’s Bolero’, and Little Richard’s ‘True Fine Mama’. Bowie also singled out The Beatles’ ‘Across The Universe’ – a track he later covered on his 1975 album ‘Young Americans’. Other favourites include Roxy Music’s ‘Mother of Pearl’, The Walker Brothers’ brooding ‘The Electrician’, and ‘Tom Violence’ by Sonic Youth.

The full list reads:

Ralph Vaughan Williams – ‘Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis’

Richard Strauss – ‘Four Last Songs’

Alan Freed and His Rock ’N’ Roll Band – ‘Right Now Right Now’

Little Richard – ‘True Fine Mama’

The Hollywood Argyles – ‘Sho Know a Lot About Love’

Miles Davis – ‘Some Day My Prince Will Come’

Charles Mingus – ‘Ecclusiastics’

Jeff Beck – ‘Beck’s Bolero’

Legendary Stardust Cowboy – ‘I Took a Trip on a Gemini Spaceship’

The Beatles – ‘Across the Universe’

Ronnie Spector – ‘Try Some, Buy Some’

Roxy Music – ‘Mother of Pearl’

Edgar Froese – ‘Epsilon in Malaysian Pale’

The Walker Brothers – ‘The Electrician’

Sonic Youth – ‘Tom Violence’

Archivists also uncovered a handwritten list of Bowie’s “ins” and “outs” from 1995. Among the “ins” were “chaos surfing”, “no tidy endings” and “David Bowie”, while the “outs” included “religion”, “irony”, “your 15 minutes” and, intriguingly, “David Bowie” once again.

The documents were found in a room Bowie kept locked and accessible only to himself and his personal assistant. Left untouched until now, they will join the wider collection when the David Bowie Centre opens to the public later this month.

The single reunites the band with Alex Greaves, who produced ‘Come And See’, while mixing duties were handled by Pelle Gunnerfeldt. To accompany the track, Gurriers have also shared a stark new video directed by Adam Hart – who previously worked with them on ‘Top Of The Bill’. Set inside the offices of a sinister security agency, the clip mirrors the track’s dark themes of surveillance and control.

‘Erasure’ arrives ahead of a busy run of live dates for the band. Next Thursday (September 18), Gurriers will open for Kneecap at London’s Wembley Arena – their biggest UK show to date. From there, the band will embark on a headline tour across the UK in October, with stops in Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff, Birmingham, Bristol, Margate, Portsmouth, Oxford and Cambridge.

The tour continues into Europe before Gurriers return home for a packed run of Irish dates. They’ll play Cork’s Cyprus Avenue on December 18, followed by two sold-out shows at Dublin’s Button Factory (December 19–20) and a Belfast date at Limelight on December 21. Looking further ahead, the band are set to launch their first-ever North American tour in March 2026.

Since the release of ‘Come And See’, Gurriers have established themselves as one of Ireland’s most electrifying new bands, known for their frenetic live shows and politically charged songwriting. ‘Erasure’ marks the beginning of their next chapter – one that seems destined to take their raw and restless energy to bigger stages around the world. ‘Erasure’ is out now across all streaming platforms and can be accessed here.

Rising UK rock trio Villanelle have announced the release of their debut single ‘Hinge’, arriving on Wednesday, September 10, alongside news of their first full UK tour.

The band – fronted by Gene Gallagher with Ben Taylor on guitar and Jack Schiavo on bass – came together by chance in the summer of 2023. What began as an encounter quickly grew into a shared mission: to revive the harder edge of rock music.

“It was a genuine passion and drive to bring back rock music again,” Taylor told NME. “Bands have been in the culture lately, but it was indie rock for a long time. Then it plateaued into an almost ‘pop’ band-y culture. We wanted to bring something back.”

That ethos has driven Villanelle’s rapid rise on the live circuit. Despite not releasing any music to date, the trio capped off 2023 with a sold-out UK headline tour on word-of-mouth alone. Earlier last year, they secured a coveted slot supporting Gene’s father Liam Gallagher on his ‘Definitely Maybe’ 30th anniversary shows.

Now, Villanelle are ready to introduce their sound to the world with ‘Hinge’. Described by the band as a ferocious collision of lo-fi grunge and arena-ready swagger, the track nods to the raw energy of Nirvana while channelling punk rock urgency.

“It’s just all heavy guitars,” Gallagher explained. “That’s my favourite tone of any song: just really chuggy chords and really fucking distorted. All my favourite songs are like that – very punk rock. ‘Hinge’is a proper right-hook of a song.”

The single’s arrival marks a significant milestone for the group, who have so far relied on live shows to build their reputation. With a UK tour announcement set to coincide with the release, Villanelle are poised to translate their live energy into a new chapter defined by original material.

As anticipation builds, ‘Hinge’ will serve as the first glimpse into what Villanelle have been crafting behind the scenes – a band intent on bringing back grit, volume and attitude to the UK rock landscape.

‘Hinge’is released Wednesday, September 10, with details of Villanelle’s forthcoming UK tour also due the same day. The single can be preordered here. Based on the anticipation of the band so far, it seems Villanelle have an exciting musical career ahead and fans should stay tuned for potential future releases.

The stage, positioned next to the main arena, is part of the MVT’s effort to give grassroots acts exposure at some of the UK’s biggest shows. Coldplay, who brought their ‘Music of the Spheres’ world tour to Wembley earlier this month, have partnered with the organisation throughout their 10-date residency at the stadium. Ten per cent of ticket proceeds from the run are being donated directly to the MVT, which supports small venues across the country.

Speaking about the experience, vocalist and guitarist Issy Cartlidge highlighted the shared importance of grassroots venues to both emerging artists and global stars. She said from the stage: “Whether it’s Coldplay or The Molotovs, one thing almost all bands have in common is that they developed their craft, and their audience, playing at grassroots venues up and down the country,” she said.

“While Coldplay started out at the likes of the Falcon and the Bull & Gate, we played the likes of The Half Moon, The 100 Club and Spice of Life – where we still host a weekly music night, Incendiary, with some of London’s best young guitar bands. Another thing we have in common is that we are music fans, and without these venues we wouldn’t get to see amazing artists in action.”

Formed by siblings Matthew and Issy Cartlidge, The Molotovs have established themselves as one of the UK’s hardest-working young bands, playing more than 600 shows despite still being in their teens. Their reputation has earned them high-profile support slots, most recently opening for the Sex Pistols. They will join the punk icons once again on their upcoming North American tour, beginning September 16 at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, Texas.

Coldplay’s partnership with the MVT comes amid growing concern over the future of small venues. The organisation has warned that one grassroots space is closing every two weeks, describing the situation as a potential “collapse of touring” for emerging artists. For years, the MVT has campaigned for a mandatory £1 levy on arena and stadium tickets to be reinvested in the grassroots sector, a move it argues is essential to sustain the pipeline of talent that feeds into the wider music industry.

By spotlighting acts like The Molotovs at Wembley, the collaboration highlights the vital role smaller stages continue to play in shaping the next generation of headliners.

The shows mark another step up for the Brooklyn-formed band, who have steadily built a reputation as one of indie rock’s most ambitious and acclaimed acts.
