Legendary English pop group Spice Girls have been rumored to possibly perform at Glastonbury festival 2019. The group originally formed back in 1994 and consisted of Melanie Chisholm, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown, and Emma Bunton.

Mel B, 43, has confirmed in a recent interview with the sun that Glastonbury has been a recent topic of conversation, amongst her and the other girls in the group. However, Victoria Beckham has stated that she will not be joining the rest during this reunion.

Mel B, alongside Emma Bunton, 42, Geri Horner, 46, and Melanie C, 44, will be commencing their Spice World 2019 Tour in May, with their first performance taking place in Croke Park, Dublin on May 24. The tour will carry on throughout May and June, with their finishing show at the Wembley Stadium in London, June 15. Mel B said: “Glastonbury [has] been talked about. But we’re so pop and it’s so cool — that’ll be funny to me.

“I think Mel C would really appreciate us doing that — she’s the cool one. She’s the cool indie chick.”

Glastonbury festival is set to take place between June 26 and June 30, meaning that the hit group has more than enough time to schedule in a final iconic performance at the Pyramid stage. Rumours have stated that the group will be expected to headline alongside Stromzy on Friday 29 June. The full headline for the festival is yet to be revealed.

Despite no acts yet being formally revealed, many Glastonbury Free Press posters have been displayed in various charity shop windows, all of which include the name of the famous grime rapper, Stormzy. The 25-year old’s place was allegedly confirmed after Emily Eavis told BBC Radio 2 that the act for Friday night is, “one of the most exciting acts in British music.” Other speculations included that Paul Mccartney is said to headline Sunday night and The Cure will be taking over the Pyramid stage on Saturday night.

Until the full line up is released rumours and suspicions will continue to surface the internet. The complete dates for the foursome’s Spice World Tour can be found below. Jess Glyne will be the opening act for all the dates.

Grime artist, Giggs, does not seem to be fond of the pair and their pompous attitude, he has sparked up a feud after making allegations of Krept and Konan being ‘frauds’, and accused them of ‘glory hunting’. The quarrel began after Krept made an Instagram post about DigDat’s Air Force Remix (featuring Krept & Konan) reaching Top 20 in the UK singles chart.

The words that seemed to have upset Giggs were, “1-0 to the culture @bouncerplaydirty proud of you my bro. 10 years ago Gipset days man would never of saw this coming.” The pair seemed to have related the success of the track and of drill music in general back to themselves and their workload. Giggs is seen as a godfather to grime and drill music, therefore, Krept’s remark was sure to hurt his ego.

Giggs’ response to the comment was rather resentful, “Hope you got a permit for all that Glory Hunting, Pathetic. Goal hanging N**as. You both make me sick. Forever talkin shit that ain’t even facts. Now your tryin a jump on the yutes hyoe and act like your responsible as well. Frauds.”

The comment by the ‘Whippin Excursion’ rapper was shortly removed. However, it is unclear whether the rapper regretted what he said and deleted the comment himself or whether Krept was too embarrassed and decided to take it down.

This has not been the first time that the two have done some minor bragging about themselves. As only last week, Krept took to Twitter and made a series of tweets regarding the lack of appreciation and credit him and Konan receive for the change they have bought about to the UK grime/drill scene. One of the tweets said, “Man helped change the game are u mad. Before young kingz majority of artists from our scene was trying to get pop records for radio and tv and FAILING. Me and konan literally said fuck this shit and made young kingz and that independent release changed the game,”

Anxiety builds as we await the duo’s response to what Giggs had to say.

During the initial planning process for the 2019 UK tour the band mentioned Bristol as one of the cities they intend on going to, however, disappointment struck when at first only Manchester and London shows were announced. Luckily, worried fans are now at rest after the band committed to their Bristol date.

The band will perform at the Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol on June 5, 2019. They will also be performing at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on June 8 and London’s Stadium on the 1. Tickets for the Bristol show go on sale this Friday (7 December) at 9 am.

Ashton Gate will also be hosting Spice Girls on June 10. The news was revealed by Matt Bellamy through his Instagram post earlier this morning. In which, he made reference to J.K. Rowling, Cary Grant, Massive Attack, Portishead, Banksy.

The band recently released their eighth studio album, ‘Simulation Theory’, featuring sixteen songs, which hit number one in the UK album charts. According to the Official Charts Company this is their sixth album which has managed to reach number one.

The band’s album can be found on Spotify and Apple music. Tickets for the earlier confirmed shows in London and Bristol are available for purchase on Ticketmaster and SeeTickets.

Sam Fender, Mahalia and Lewis Capaldi, have been shortlisted for the 2019 awards. The award is given to British artists who are suspected to make the biggest impact in the forthcoming years and have not yet secured an album within the Top 40. Last year’s winner was the beautiful Jorja Smith, and Rag’n’Bone Man took the trophy home back in 2017.

The three artists were selected by a team of professionals, such as heads of major radio and TV stations, as well as music editors of national papers. Despite the winner usually being revealed in November, this year we can expect for them to be announced on Friday, December 7.

Mahlia, 20, is a jack of many trades, a singer, songwriter, and actress from Leicester. Despite having signed a deal at the age of 13 with Atlantic music records, her fame really sparked after she performed her single ‘Sober’ on ‘A Colours Show Berlin’. Followed by singles like ‘I Wish I Missed My Ex’ and her most recent ‘Surprise Me’.

Scottish singer, songwriter Lewis Capaldi, 22, is well known for his single ‘Bruises’, which went viral back in 2017. His successes also include a mass amount of sold out shows, including the most recent at London Shepherds Bush Empire.

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter, Sam Fender has not only had his song ‘Play God’ be featured in FIFA 2019, he has also been previously named one of the BBC Sound of 2018. He aims to tackle mental health problems, as well, as toxic masculinity through his sound and visuals. His single ‘Dead Boys’ can be found below.

Tracy Leanne Jefford, 36, was a contestant on ‘The X Factor’ in 2017, where she was mentored by Nicole Scherzinger. Although Jefford may not have won the competition, she most definitely won a majority of hearts and is now on her journey to change the music scene.

Despite not securing her place as an X Factor finalist, Tracy Leanne has continued to write and record her own music. She has even gone as far as releasing a few tracks, such as, ‘Wish I Didn’t Love You’ and her most recent track, which has sparked up some controversy, titled ‘Raise Your Hands.’

Since coming off the show, Tracy Leanne has been nothing but driven by determination. Her music aims to reassert the female role within both the music industry, as well as, society in general. As a single mother of three, she is also haunted by a troubled past, which involves her ex-husband being on a manhunt for 5 months. She is paving the way for women by showing them that it does not matter where you came from, but where you want to be. Her single ‘Raise Your Hands’ advocates feminism and encourages women to find the voice of power they all have within. Even throughout her social media, it is clear to see that Tracy Leanne is a feminist and proud.

Thanks to her success despite not winning the competition, she has created a legacy for female artists to follow, in particular, those who were told no by not only men but also by those in positions of ‘power’. The singer in a recent interview with CelebMix said: “I have a single ‘In The Rain’ coming out November/December.” The single will include a music video.

The BBC has confirmed that the three DJ’s will be replacing Charlie Sloth in hosting the late evening, 9pm-11pm show. They will begin hosting in 2019. Charlie Sloth, who has been presenting the hip-hop show ‘The 8th’ since 2017, left the station last month.

We have agreed with Charlie Sloth that he will not be presenting any further editions of ‘The 8th’ and ‘The Rap Show’ for Radio 1 and 1Xtra. New presenters will be announced for both shows in coming weeks.

— Radio 1 Press Office (@BBCRadio1PR) October 20, 2018

Sloth claimed he was leaving to “seek a new challenge”. However, it was said that his show would continue running until the beginning of November but was cut short due to a controversial stunt pulled by Sloth at an awards ceremony in October. The incident involved Edith Bowman, who won Best Specialist Music category at The Arias radio awards. Sloth responded by climbing up on stage, taking the microphone and saying “Edith Bowman, fuck your life. I just wanna say – Radio 1, 1Xtra, Saturday Night Rap Show, fuck your life. God bless.” Edith Bowman simply responded with a simple tweet, “Morning, Charlie Sloth. Hope you are feeling okay this morning.”

Sloth has been presenting shows for the BBC for a decade now, he is yet to announce what his next move will be career-wise. Despite it being highly unusual for a host to leave a show just after a year, especially after such a good response from audiences, Sloth did, however, cause a lot of controversies.

After a strong 10 years of presenting the KISS FM breakfast show, the trio, Rickie, Melvin, and Charlie say that “We’re so excited to be joining the Radio 1 family. Listeners will hear a new side to us, as we’ll be showcasing the music we love.” The three put together have more than enough experience to provide a fun and engaging radio show. Following the success of being named the most successful commercial breakfast radio show in the UK.

Between the three of them, they have presented a variety of shows, such as ITV2, Channel 4, MTV and BBC Three. The three will be presenting the show Mon-Thurs, 9pm-11pm from the start of the new year.

Three British songwriters from Essex, are suing, Canadian superstar, The Weeknd, for allegedly copying one of their songs. The Weeknd faces a legal threat over a song off his 2016 album ‘Starboy’.

Brian Clover, Scott McCulloch, and Billy Smith, who were also known as Sonic Religion, back in 2004, are alleging that the R&B artist’s song ‘A Lonely Night’ has copied a major part of their 2004 song ‘I Need Love’. The Weeknd is being sued for a total of £15 million, by the trio of British songwriters.

The Weeknd, who is being legally represented by the UK law firm, Russells, has denied the charges so far. The BBC approached the law firm for comment yesterday (November 22), and have yet to receive a response.

Brian Clover, 47, who now works as an estate agent in Essex, said that he first came across a song while shopping in Topman in Colchester, Essex. The trio made an attempt to sell the song through the help of a record label but unfortunately failed to find a buyer.

Shortly after, two weeks later to be exact, The Weeknd went on to release his album ‘Star Boy’, which featured the song now being sued for copyright. The album was certified double platinum.

Speaking to the BBC about the situation, Clover said: “We have never had a hit, we have had songs on hold but never got over the line. It is frustrating because it has always been our goal to have our names on an album by an artist.”

The copying was supposedly incited by an in-house writer employed by the label, as he was also given the opportunity of working on the Candian singer’s album, ‘Starboy’. Therefore, it has been assumed that this is how the copying was able to take place.

As a music group who have never had a hit, this is truly some devastating news. Brian Clover initially took it upon himself to contact The Weeknd’s management team in order to try and resolve the issue with a cordial arrangement. However, the request was rejected and has now resulted in legal issues.

The three songwriters still hold the rights to their 2004 track, as it was never formally released. The song ‘A Lonely Night’ by the Canadian star can be streamed across all major platforms, including Spotify and Apple music.
