The Rolling Stones, who are currently in the middle of a European stadium tour, were joined on stage two nights ago in Vienna by a Ukrainian choir for a performance of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”.

The performance was a part of the encore at the Stones’ show at Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, Austria. Frontman Mick Jagger introduced the Vogynk girls choir and Dzvinochock boys choir, stating that the group had made a whopping fifteen hour journey from Kyiv to Vienna just for the concert. Ruben Tolmachov, the choirmaster for the two choirs, addressed the crowd, saying: “This is a very special night for the two choirs and a chance of a lifetime not to be missed… I’m so glad we made it here to Vienna, a night to remember for all of us”.

You can watch a video of the stunning performance down below.

In other recent news regarding The Rolling Stones, the band’s European stadium tour was recently resumed after postponement due to Mick Jagger testing positive for COVID-19. The group postponed shows in Amsterdam and Bern, the former of which was rescheduled to July 7th. The show in Bern, Switzerland was unfortunately cancelled, however.

As any fan of rock music may know by now, The Rolling Stones’ long-time drummer Charlie Watts passed away last year at the age of eighty. Watts’ passing prompted a great number of tributes from various peers and music icons, and it was announced earlier this month that a biography about Watts was to be released later this year entitled Charlie’s Good Tonight: The Authorised Biography of Charlie Watts. The band said in a statement regarding this: “He was funny and generous and a man of great taste and we miss him terribly. It’s great that his family have authorized this official biography by Paul Sexton, who’s been writing and broadcasting about Charlie and the band for many years.”

Commenting on his involvement as the writer of the biography, Sexton stated: “He was funny and generous and a man of great taste and we miss him terribly. It’s great that his family have authorized this official biography by Paul Sexton, who’s been writing and broadcasting about Charlie and the band for many years.”

Essex-born four-piece rock outfit We Are The Ocean have confirmed via social media that they have reunited, and will be performing at Omeara in London on October 15th. Fans can sign up to a pre-sale for tickets here.

Taking to social media, the group explained their reunion: “Our friendship inside and out of We Are The Ocean has always remained strong. The last 2 years have really put life into a new perspective, so we thought we owed it to ourselves and our fans to come together and do what we love to do best. In the rehearsal studio we found the energy was still there – it honestly felt better than ever – and that’s why we’ve decided to get back on stage together; to connect, share and celebrate We Are The Ocean.”

At present, the band has not announced any new music, however with the sentiments expressed in today’s statement, we can certainly hope to hear some new tunes in the not too distant future.

We Are The Ocean are a group whose sound has morphed and changed somewhat over the years. The band initially formed in 2007 from the ashes of Dead But Still Dreaming, and was comprised of vocalist Dan Brown, singer and guitarist Liam Cromby, lead guitarist Alfie Scully, bassist Jack Spence and drummer Tom Whittaker. For their first two extended plays and studio albums, the band assumed a sound reminiscent of 2000s post-hardcore, with frontman Dan Brown primarily delivering screamed and unclean vocals while Cromby handled the band’s soaring, melodic choruses.

In 2012, Brown stepped down from the group to pursue a career as a band manager, and the band became a four-piece, with Cromby at the helm. We Are The Ocean’s 2012 full-length album Maybe Today, Maybe Tomorrow saw the band alter their sound according to their line-up change, opting for an alternative rock approach, which would carry through to their next album, ARK.

In early 2017, We Are The Ocean announced that they were disbanding, and embarked on a farewell tour through Europe, which took place between February and March of that same year.

Oasis’ third full-length studio album Be Here Now is being given the re-issue treatment by Big Brother Recordings for the record’s 25th anniversary.

The re-issue will be released on August 19th as a silver-coloured double LP. The album will also be available on picture disc and cassette and will feature completely remastered audio. A lyric video for the song “D’You Know What I Mean? (NG’s 2016 Rethink)” has been unveiled, which you can see at the link below.

Oasis’ third record was originally released in August of 1997, three years on from their debut Definitely Maybe, and two years following their sophomore effort (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? On first release, the record received somewhat mixed reviews, with some critics offering up negative reception in regard to the length of certain songs, lyrics and the production. Naturally however, the album also received a great deal of love and praise, with Dele Fadele of Vox having referred to the album as: “a veritable rock’n’roll monsoon of an album; a giant jigsaw puzzle, an elemental force, a monster that cannot and will not be contained.”

In a 2020 documentary, Noel Gallagher reflected on the critical reception to the record, highlighting in particular the more negative reviews, saying: “I mean it goes to prove that really, journalists, they know fuck all. They had to second guess everything after ‘Morning Glory’, cos they’d got it so wrong…That’s why when ‘Be Here Now came’ out, which isn’t a great album, it got 10/10 everywhere, it didn’t get one bad review, because they didn’t want to be made to look like dicks again, and they were, because it’s not half the record ‘Morning Glory’ is… After that, they properly hated us after that, cos they didn’t understand us.”

Fans will be able to buy the record from the band’s online store. Pre-orders can be found at this link.

Big Brother Recordings previously re-released Be Here Now in 2016, following the re-release of Oasis’ first two records. The re-release featured B-sides and unheard tracks alongside the original tunes from the record.

Legendary El Paso progressive rock outfit The Mars Volta have released a new single entitled “Graveyard Love”, their first new song in ten years. The group officially ended their decade long hiatus recently with the release of their comeback tune “Blacklight Shine”. You can listen to the band’s new music on all streaming services, and you can take a listen to “Graveyard Love” and watch its accompanying music video at the link below.

The tune blends whirring, chittering synths with hi-hat heavy drumbeats and palm-muted guitar playing, crowned by Bixler-Zavala’s signature vocal delivery. He sings: “You better walk behind me, walk behind me again” and “How many times have we burnt it all down?/ Plumes of smoke, call it graveyard love/ Walk behind me, walk these hallways again.”

The Mars Volta, whose core members are vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, formed the group in the early 2000s, in the wake of the dissolution of their previous band At The Drive-In, an acclaimed, influential post-hardcore outfit. The Mars Volta play a kind of progressive, psychedelic rock, having released six full-length albums between 2003 and 2012.

The Mars Volta’s debut full-length record is entitled De-Loused in the Comatorium and was released on June 24th, 2003. The album featured personnel such as Flea and John Frusciante of The Red Hot Clip Peppers and Justin Meldal-Johnson, who has worked with the likes of Nine-Inch Nails and Beck. You can listen to the record on all streaming services, and you can listen to the opening two tracks “Son et Lumiere/Inertiatic Esp” down below.

The group was dissolved by Bixler-Zavala in 2012 due to a falling out between himself and Rodriguez-Lopez. The duo rekindled their friendship in 2014, which led to further collaborations between the two, however The Mars Volta has not appeared with brand new original music until now.

The band recently announced a US tour, so for any North American fans perusing this article, you can find all information relating to that here. Presently, no UK or EU tour has been announced, however EU fans can hope that an announcement is not too far away.

British alternative/metalcore quintet Bring Me The Horizon have released a music video alongside the release of their brand-new single “Strangers”. You can watch and listen at the link below.

Speaking on the themes of the song, singer Oli Sykes said, according to NME: “The song came out of a long writing trip in LA…“and as soon as the lyric ‘we’re just a room full of strangers’ came it took on such a deeper double meaning – how it would feel to be performing it live as that’s what it is.. all strangers connecting on this mad level.. and that it was like rehab…Coming out of lockdown and the pandemic, everyone is recovering from something and I’m so aware that so many people struggle daily with differing traumas, and just wanted to stress that they’re not in this alone… and we’re a community here to help each other.”

The tune is the band’s first non-collaborative single since “DiE4u” which was released in September of last year, and spawned the “DiE6u” hyperpop remix by the online music collective six impala. Both “DiE4u” and “Strangers” will likely appear on the upcoming instalment of Bring Me The Horizon’s Post Human EP series, which commenced in 2020 with Post Human: Survival Horror, a release that saw the band collaborating with the likes of Yungblud, Japanese metal outfit Babymetal, London duo Nova Twins and Evanescence singer Amy Lee. You can find the release on all available streaming services, and you can listen to “Kingslayer” down below.

The group have revealed a few details about the continuation of the Post Human series, with Oli Sykes saying in a 2021 interview that they were planning on releasing four instalments: “We’ve got a clear direction that the third one will take, and also the fourth one. All I’ll say is that it’s quite asymmetrical and the fourth one is going to be quite a curveball.”

The singer also stated that the band had been working on the new instalment in the series for around a year in a more recent interview: “We’ve been working on it for about a year now, we’ve got lots of music we’re just being quite picky about what we want to release. We must have about 45 songs.”

Rex Orange County has announced that he is cancelling the majority of his 2022 touring plans following his London show in August. Tickets to his remaining shows can be found here.

The Grayshott musician, (real name Alex O’Connor) issued a statement on social media concerning the matter, stating: “It is with a great deal of sadness to announce that due to unforeseen personal circumstances, I am having to spend some time at home this year and I will not be able to continue with touring as planned…The UK/IRE dates will still go ahead this summer but Gunnersby Park in London on August 13th will be the last show of the year. I am devastated to say that the Australia, New Zealand and European shows scheduled for September and November will be cancelled. All tickets will be refunded…This is the last thing I want to do. I love touring and I am so sorry to be letting anyone down. I look forward to getting back to it as soon as I can.”

O’Connor released his fourth full-length record Who Cares? in March of this year, which landed him his first Number One album in the UK. The record was received well by both fans and critics alike, with NME saying in a four-star review: “Even if there is no clear breakthrough moment for O’Connor on ‘Who Cares?’, there is something to be said for an artist that is this consistent, and this committed to uplifting his listeners. These 11 tracks simply encourage his audience to draw those curtains wide, to look at the sun outside that window, to keep moving forward.”

You can listen to “KEEP IT UP” from the album below, and watch its accompanying music video.

O’Connor’s first foray into music under the Rex Orange County moniker was in 2015, when he self-released his first album Bcos U Will Never B Free via Bandcamp and Soundcloud. The album caught the attention of the likes of American rapper Tyler, The Creator, later leading to a collaboration between the two on the album Flower Boy, with O’Connor contributing vocals to the songs “Foreword” and “Boredom”. O’Connor has released four albums to date under the Rex Orange County name; Bcos U Will Never B Free (2015), Apricot Princess (2017), Pony (2019 and Who Cares? (2022). You can find the entirety of O’Connor’s musical catalogue on all streaming services.

English singer-songwriter Alfie Templeman has announced a UK headline tour, which will commence in October of this year. Ticket information can be found here, and the dates can be viewed at the end of the article.

The tour will commence at Edinburgh’s La Belle Angele, and will entail stops in London Cardiff, Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds, to name just a few locations.

The tour announcement comes just a couple of months after the release of Templeman’s most recent album Mellow Moon, which was received warmly by both fans and critics alike. In a four-star review of the record, NME said that the 19-year-old songwriter’s newest album boasted “a huge, colourful pop sound while navigating anxiety through these joyously unpredictable songs.” They went on to say: “The album carefully twists and turns through Templeman’s headspace as he searches for answers to an escape from the doldrums of modern life, flickering between loss (‘Do It’) and reassurance (the buoyant, mood-lifting ‘Colour Me Blue’).”

The young star embarked on his very first headlining tour of the UK earlier this year, and he also made the journey to Australia for a run of headline shows in June.

Having been deeply interested in music from an early age, Templeman released his debut single “Orange Juice” in 2018 at the age of fifteen, and released his debut E.P. Like An Animal in October of that year through Chess Club Records. He went on to release two more E.Ps in 2019 entitled Sunday Morning Cereal and Don’t Go Wasting Time. Templeman released a “mini-album” in May of 2021 entitled Forever Isn’t Long Enough, and just this year released his debut full-length project Mellow Moon. You can listen to Templeman’s musical catalogue on all available streaming services.

The Bedfordshire-born songwriter also recently covered Harry Styles’ “As It Was” for the popular BBC Radio 1 show “Live Lounge”. You can watch/listen to the rendition down below.

The tour originally entailed a trip across Europe that would conclude with three UK dates and would see the band paying tribute to beloved Canadian prog-rockers Rush by covering their “A Farewell to Kings” record in its entirety.

In regard to their decision to cover “A Farewell to Kings”, bassist and frontman Les Claypool recently told the Nashville Tennessean: “We always joked that we were going to play ‘Hemispheres’ in its entirety. And then it was, like, ‘Well, maybe we should do something like that.’ ‘2112’ seemed a little too obvious. ‘Moving Pictures’ seemed a little too obvious. So, ‘A Farewell To Kings’ seemed like the right choice.”

Claypool also reminisced on touring with Rush, saying: “I was one of those guys as a high schooler, sitting in the audience … knowing every single note. Rush fans are very scrutinizing. They’ll tell you, we were one of the only bands accepted by the Rush crowd back in the day when we were touring with them. That being said, it’s very precious to a lot of people. We’re taking it very seriously. I’ll tell you, we’ve never rehearsed as a band this much in our lives as we did for this Rush thing. We’re doing it as close as we possibly can to the way they would do it.”

The band will still be performing the US leg of the tour, and for any American fans, more information can be found here.

Originally formed in 1984, Primus presently consists of bassist and vocalist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Tim Alexander. The group are known for their instrumental chops, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and general weirdness, once being referred to as “quite possibly the strangest top-10 band ever” by music journalist Robert Christgau. The group found mainstream success with their sophomore album Sailing the Seas of Cheese, with its lead single “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver” remaining one of the group’s most popular tunes, having gained a platinum certification less than a decade after its initial release.
