Rina Sawayama and Charli XCX, iconic as solo artists both dominating the UK and US pop charts but could they be even better together? The teaser for their latest collaboration may just tell us the answer.

Over the past few months the pair have been teasing working on a track together however fans may not have to wait as long as they expected for the duos musical signatures to intertwine. The first mention of a collaboration was confirmed by Charli XCX in May last year when the pair allegedly had discussed making music together. Many months passed and fans had lost some hope – writing off this statement as a passing conversation more than an actual plan to collaborate anytime soon. However, hopes have recently been lifted as the ‘Boom Clap’ singer uploaded photos and videos of her upcoming projects, including screenshots of texts between herself and Sawayama in which they can be pictured hyping up what seems to be a collaborative single “Our voices work so well together” wrote Sawayama to Charli.

It would be just a week later that Charli XCX posts a Tik Tok featuring the then untitled track which seems to be revering down a synth pop sensuality route combined with the duos signature enthusiasm. In the short 10 seconds we hear Sawayama’s silky vocals chiming the lyrics “…Coming and going just as you please / Separated by a degree, hesitated illusion so far out of reach.” watch the video here.

In more exciting turns of this slow burn release schedule, Sawayamas most recent Tik Tok depicts the duo donned in white dresses on what seems to be the video set for ‘Beg For You.‘ This clip also tells us a lot more about the tune which samples the 2006 top hit ‘Cry For You’ yet becoming modernised to fit the current industry thematics and both singers aesthetics. The music video also seems to be taking on a more ethereal scenery, with both singers sitting comfortably close wearing similar white silk slip dresses, the background is minimal yet the lighting portrays a warmer tone to the shoot – its purposes yet are still unknown.

We can guarantee both Charli’s self proclaimed ‘Angels‘ and Sawayamas ‘Pixels‘ are overjoyed with the news that two of Britains most influential female voices are joining forces. Underneath both the stars teaser Tik Tok’s fans showered the duo with support with comments from some stating “Quite literally will be the only song I stream after its release. we love a sample” and another saying “Charli x Rina is already the biggest serve of 2022″

Charli XCX is set to release her new studio album, CRASH on March the 18th of 2022 and has already released two tracks the 80s embodied ‘Good Ones‘ (which has been remixed by Perfume Genius) and a collaboration with Christine And The Queens and Caroline Polacheck titled ‘New Shapes‘.

After posting a tearful video through her social media channels, Britain’s most renowned singer songwriter has had to reschedule her upcoming Las Vegas residency. The performances were initially set to go ahead throughout the months of January to April where she would host performances every Friday and Saturday – aptly called “Weekends With Adele” but has now had to have been rescheduled.

Following her usual schedule, it’s only in recent months since her 30 album was released that we have heard more from the infamous singer as she took a step back from the spotlight six years ago, post her number one album ’25’ which featured hits such as “Hello“, “When We Were Young” and “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)“. During this hiatus, she continued to work on her fourth studio album ‘30‘ and deal with her rollercoaster personal life that continued to taint the pages of the often invasive UK press. From her emergence in 2008 with her first hit being “Chasing Pavements” released in 2008 and peaking at number 21 in the official UK charts, it has been evident that Adele cares deeply not only for her craft but also those that support her, her fans. Throughout the years she has performed to thousands of fans in stadium across the world, and at any opportunity she tries to engage with those in the audiences whether its giving honest advice and narrative between her setlist’s or allowing one fan to propose on her stage whilst she serenaded the happy couple (see here) – Adele remains humble by all accounts.

In the video, posted only yesterday, Adele can be heard emotionally explaining “I’m so sorry but my show isn’t ready, we’ve tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID” she then continues to express “I’m really really sorry, I’m really sorry we’re on it now, we’re gonna reschedule all of the dates.”.

All dates will be rescheduled

Despite her disappointment and “embarrass[ment]” due to the situation being out of her control, the video has received over 75,000 messages of support from both fans and fellow celebs. One writes “Minor set back for a major comeback! We still love you, thoughts and prayers for you and your team” whilst Radio One presenter and close friend Greg James wrote “‘Trust the process, go with your gut, its also Friday, so its the weekend! Cheer Up! Wayyy ayyyy!’ – Adeles own advice when she was on the radio a few months ago.”

Adele is also due to perform this summer at ‘The British Summer Time‘ in Hyde Park on the 1st and 2nd of July. Tickets can be purchased here.

Britain’s pop-rock heartthrob Harry Styles has recently announced the (re-scheduled) next instalment of his ‘Love On Tour’ UK, European and South American tour dates.

Previously planned to go ahead in 2020, the Love On Tour shows had to be re-scheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, much like all the other tours and live events that had to do the same as the live industry witnessed the most devastating effects they’ve had to tackle in recent history. The pandemic saw a huge impact on the live events industry with live music revenues decreasing by 90% and one in three jobs in the sector being lost.

However, we can always count on Harry Styles to spread the joy of our industry rising from the ashes once more. The 32 date tour will see Styles play shows from Glasgow to Mexico starting on the 11th of June and ending on the 10th of December. This tour will also see Styles playing the biggest venues he’s ever played, with the four UK dates on the Tour all being stadium shows consisting of Glasgow’s Ibrox Stadium, Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford, London’s Wembley Stadium and Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

I’m so happy to announce that ‘Love On Tour 2022’ is finally coming to the UK, Europe and South America.

Public on sale begins on Friday, Jan 28. Check your venue website for further information about your show, and protocols.

I’m so excited to see you. Thank you, I love you. H pic.twitter.com/M9Wg9AXczA

— Harry Styles. (@Harry_Styles) January 19, 2022

The tour will be in support of his number one album Fine Line which will presumably include performances of ‘Watermelon Sugar‘, ‘Adore You‘, ‘Fine Line‘ and ‘Lights Up‘ all of which landed in the top 30 of the UK’s official charts over the past year. Harry Styles simply has a bug for dominating the charts and his discography shone light throughout the pandemic; upon hearing the news fans are beside themselves to be hearing these anthemic tracks in the company of thousands of other likeminded listeners with one twitter user writing: “Harry Styles sold out 20,000 tickets to his cancelled 2020 show at London’s O2 Arena. After endless rescheduling he’s finally set a new date for the same gig, at a new venue – Wembley Stadium. Capacity: 90,000 people. What a difference 2 years makes. Damn that man is good.”

News surrounding the tour continues to be filled with exciting news, especially surrounding the support acts who will be joining Styles on the tour. Fellow pop super star acts will be sharing the stage with Wolf Alice, Arlo Parks and Mitski all having been revealed as the opening artists for the anticipated shows.

Styles had a brilliant year in 2021 in terms of his career, winning his first BRIT award for Best British Single courtesy of the summer anthem ‘Watermelon Sugar‘ from his sophomore album, and winning his first Grammy for Best Pop Performance. Since his One Direction days, Harry Styles has truly grown into the preppy, all inclusive mega star we all know and love. His plans for the year ahead certainly seem to be in continual of these previous successes, solidifying himself as one of the most innovative British household names.

Tickets for his upcoming tour will be released on Friday the 28th of January.

The UK dates are as follows:

11/06/2022 – Ibox Stadium – Glasgow
15/06 – Emirates Old Trafford – Manchester
18/06 – Wembley Stadium – London
22/06 – Aviva Stadium – Dublin

The BRIT awards is back and is set to be one of their best award shows since it first aired in 1977.

The BRIT awards have always been one of the most anticipated events in the national music industries annual calendar. Previously, the organisation has been criticised for dragging their heals when it comes to progressing alongside the industry. Especially when it comes to gender equality, sub genre representation as well as their voting policies (which were previously dominated by, usually male, industry professionals.)

However, in recent years the BRITS, (set up by the British Phonographic Industry) have reconsidered their decisions surrounding the event, in light of more modern cultural music movements. New Chair, and Polydor Co-President, Tom March seems to be behind these movements and fans of the show have received his ideas with appreciation. Such as the removal of gendered categories, a decision to be taken forward into this year’s 2022 BRITS which will see the removal of categories such as “British Male Solo Artist” and “British Female Solo Artist” being replaced by more inclusive categories such as “Artist Of The Year” and “Album Of The Year”.

Another huge change we’re seeing this year is the introduction of a public voting system via Tik Tok, where the decision for four new categories will be in the hands of fans and the general public. The categories include Dance Act, Alternative/Rock Act, Pop/R&B Act, and Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act. Voters will be free to access the ‘BRIT hub’ specialised voting platform via the organisations Tik Tok on January the 20th and will be free to cast their votes until the 3rd of February.

Not to mention this year is set to be the most inclusive BRIT awards we possibly have ever seen, with there being more female artists on the shortlist of nominees than we have encountered in more than a decade. Not only this, the show will also be hosted by newcomer Mo Gilligan as previous presenter, and fellow comedian, Jack Whitehall has stepped away from the role. Gilligan will be presenting alongside radio regulars Maya Jama and Clara Amfo who will be presenting ‘The BRITs Are Coming nominations’ show and The BRITs 2022 red carpet.

⚡️ @MoTheComedian is your #BRITs 2022 host // Dream duo @MayaJama and Clara Amfo will be taking on presenting duties for The BRITs Are Coming nominations show + The BRITs 2022 red carpet pic.twitter.com/EjTlJ9qB9v

— BRIT Awards (@BRITs) November 22, 2021

These new changes are courtesy of Tom March who has overseen the long overdue revamp of the awards. He states “It is important that The BRITs continue to evolve and aim to be as inclusive as possible. It feels completely the right time to celebrate the achievements of artists for the music that they create, and the work that they do, irrespective of gender. I’m really excited to launch four new genre awards, which create even more opportunities for artists to be acknowledged for the brilliant music they create and produce, and give music fans the chance to get involved and vote to support their artists and help them to win a BRIT. The 2022 show is shaping up really well, Mo is going to be an excellent host and I am thankful to him along with Clara and Maya for being part of this year’s BRITs.” Via the BRIT website here.

The star spangled line up of performances will see some of the UK’s most influential artists of the past few years with performances from Anne-Marie, Glass Animals, Mimi Webb and Joel Corry & Gracey.

Brockhampton have been Hip Hop’s coolest answer to a boyband since their first official single “Dirt” was released in 2015. Since then they have toured the planet, sold out shows in the most remote corners of the world and dazzled listeners with their eccentric soundscape. However, much to the disappointment of many fans who have been itching to see the band for years, they announced just last night via their instagram page that Brockhampton “will be taking an indefinite hiatus as a group”.

Many fans shared their upset via twitter and instagram with one stating “brockhampton. i have been waiting through 3 years of rescheduled shows to see u. just for them to get cancelled & u to announce ur not performing together again” .

Other fans expressed their disappointment in the now six piece with one instagram comment stating “I didn’t have tickets or anything but I’ve never seen a band do this so disrespectfully I hope there’s an explanation.” and another commenting “Probably the lamest way to go out ngl.”

Furthermore, the statement published yesterday claims that the final shows the band will play as a group is London’s Brixton O2 and Coachella, whereas all other dates on their world tour are cancelled, effective immediately. This abrupt nature has not gone unnoticed and many suspect new information to slowly arise from the press, others merely refuse to believe the news and claim this post as a promotional plan.

Brockhampton was formed by front man, Kevin Abstract, in 2015 through a Kanye West fan forum where he recruited 15 members. It would be 2 years later the group made their breakout with the saturation trilogy but then received backlash as they were forced to kick our Ameer Vann due to allegations of “mental and physical abuse”. Despite this, the band went on to sign with RCA and tour the world.

In a heartfelt message to their fans the band writes “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being on this journey with us. We would not be here without our fans. We hope we’ve been able to inspire you as much as you have us these past eight years.” Read the full statement here.

On the rise indie bands have always had a certain excitement surrounding them. Maybe it’s the thundering basslines that vibrate in your chest, the clattering drums or the expressive vocals that are all synonymous with the beloved genre, which has one of the most infamous underground scenes in the UK. This same excitement is building for newly formed 7 piece ‘Holodrum‘. Holodrum, is formed by members from pre existing, line up regulars: Yard Act, Hookworms, Cowtown, Virginia Wing and Drahla. They have recently released their new single “Free Advice” alongside an announcement for their debut album which is set to be released on the 25th of February this year (2022) via Nottingham based independent label Gringo Records who specialise in the likes of post punk and indie rock.

“Free Advice” is a shoegaze disco synth-pop amalgamation, compiling the best work from the bands seven piece team of talented artists and musicians. Taking on a more 80s flare compared to the more punk aesthetics seen in the members other respective bands it provides a fresh sound within the current underground music scene – something you can really dance to. A tune you can both mosh and bop to at the same time, it has really optimistic instrumentation and rhythm courtesy of videogame-esque synths and frantic drum sequences. Speaking on the single, lead singer Emily Garner said Free Advice “conveys the state of feeling invincible in adversity and serves quite clearly as a piece of good advice, which is applicable to anyone. who has gone out of his way to harden your vibe”

Ever important in the digital age of music, the single was accompanied by a music video. Similar to its sonics, the video pictures animations close in aesthetic to retro computer games with bright pastels and pixelated scenery. Watch it here.

Fans truly can’t predict what will come of the album, something not normally seen within modern music so this release comes as a truly unique formation; we’ve heard these musicians before in their own respective circles (think Yard Act’s outspoken post punk ‘Fixer Upper’ and Hookworm’s stormy psychedelic Negative Space.)

Yard Act have built up a cult following from the go with their debut singles being released in 2021 and their huge 63 date 2022 UK tour already underway, which features festivals such as Truck festival as well as 2 dates at the Øyafestivalen festival in Oslo.

As for ‘Hookworms’, they were previously signed to Gringo Records (the label who are now releasing ‘Holodrum’s‘ debut album.) Three members of Hookworms can now be heard on this new record and album, they are Matthew Ben, Jonathan Nash and Jonathan Wilkinson. ‘Hookworms’ saw their end in 2018 after the frontman received allegations of sexual assault and mental abuse.

Listen to ‘Free Advice’ here and pre order the debut album here.

Central Cee, one of the most exciting British acts to come out of 2021, has returned once more to prove he is the UK’s figurehead for the next movement of the rap and drill genre, with his latest single “Retail Therapy“.

This latest release is one of fifteen tracks on the rapper’s upcoming mixtape ’23’ which has been teased across his social media platforms and is set to be released on the 25th of February this year (2022.)

‘Retail Therapy‘ sees Central, commonly referred to as Cench, flaunting his day to day as one of the UK’s most prominent rappers at the moment. Clearly depicted in the music video, as his career has drastically come into its own within the last few years, so has the wealth he has accumulated as he flexes his designer garments and can be pictured going on a spending spree with no glances at the price tag, in shops such as the notorious Selfridges on London’s Oxford Street. Fans are also sharing their love for the tune and video in the comments, with one fan stating “Copping crep is therapeutic until the collection becomes a headache. Tune is sick though still.” The video is currently number two on Youtube’s trending for music, despite only being premiered on the 6th of January. You can watch it here.

Central Cee has had his career turn around within the last few months and is seen to be one of the most consistently energetic rappers in the game right now. His first successful single “Loading” hit number 19 on the UK charts in October 2020 and is currently at 126 million streams on Spotify alone (where he also flaunts just over 7 million monthly listeners.) Fans continue to share their love for the rapper on social media, many of whom are extremely excited for his next mixtape as seen below.

Central Cee got a new album out next month ❄️❄️❄️ pic.twitter.com/d98d7VwILi

Not only are fans across the globe calling for Central’s success, the British music industry continue to sing the once underground rappers praise as he earns his place at number five on the BBC’s Sound Of 2022 alongside fellow talented artists such as Baby Queen, Pink Pantheress and Wet Leg.

“To the people this was recommended to 10 years in the future: Central Cee was the most consistent UK rapper back in 2022″ says one fan beneath the recent music video. Whether you like him or not, it is this consistency to his artistry that really what sets him apart from all other drill rappers at the moment. In 2021 alone he dropped his last album, Wild West and played at countless venues on his 2021 UK tour as well as at festivals such as Wireless. Even then, the 22 year old rapper continues to stay active on his grind releasing a Christmas Day freestyle with Daily Duppy as an extra present to his wide network of fans.

The 23 mixtape is out on February the 25th pre save here.

Rock and Roll classics, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, have released their new track “Farewell OK”, providing listeners an exciting look into the highly anticipated album The Boy Named If that is soon to be released on January the 14th 2022.

This release comes with exciting news, as a UK tour has been recently announced via Elvis Costello’s Twitter, as seen below:

Catch Elvis Costello & The Imposters, as well as Charlie Sexton, on tour in the UK next year!

The June tour will compromise of 14 dates ranging from Glasgow to Swansea and will see Texas native, Charlie Sexton, in the support slot for each show.

This latest single combines the energy and soul of Costellos usual style, combining the energy of punk with hints of new wave and modern tendencies. Costello is renowned for his songwriting and artistry, even earning his place in the Grammy’s Hall Of Fame and receiving an OBE in 2019. This track is no exception to his songwriting talents, with lyrics such as “Ran my hand in the rhythm along the ballroom wall” seizing listeners and wrenching them through the sonic landscape of the enthusiastic instrumentals. Costello has a talent for songwriting that offers no flaws, yet his lyricism always has that quick, scribbled on a napkin, naturalism to it. Not to mention the ever eclectic visuals that centre the captivating music video.

Costello himself has described the track as “a blurred gaze, a drink too much, an accidental punch and a kiss goodnight all in the tumult of a dancehall.” Perfectly summarising the feverish narrative that encases the track. This energy seeps further into the instrumentals of the track as well, with Costello’s distinctive vocal delivery being effortlessly homogenised with chattering guitars, poppy keys and over-reverberating drums, courtesy of band members Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas and Dave Faragher. ‘Farewell OK’ seems to hold nuances of cheesy 70s rock, but in the most harmonically pleasing way.

Fans expressed their feelings towards the track and upcoming album in comments under the music video, with one individual stating “Fabulous song, so happy to hear it again before purchasing this fantastic new album” and another writing “E.C. is the best songwriter of our time. I can’t wait until my vinyl copy of “The Boy Named If” arrives later this month upon release.”

Elvis Costello is one of Britain’s most influential music icons. Beginning his music career in the early 70s, he continues to revolutionise his sound and pen the most complicated feelings and stories into each of his lyrics. As he releases his first album in two years many fans are highly anticipating this new soundtrack and upcoming shows.

Tour Dates are as follows:

“Jamie T album 5. Done. Seriously looking forward to 2022!” tweets Jag Jago, the producer Jamie T has been working alongside for just over a year.

Rumours that the indie superstar had started recording his new album began to surface in early 2021 as Carl Barát, of The Libertines, shared in an instagram caption: “Da boys in the band… Been cookin’ up some dope lit sick shiz innit”.

Fans of the early 2000s icon have no idea what to expect as his previous album Trick released in 2016 and the collection of B sides released in 2018 span from Shoe Gaze in tracks such as “Meet Me On The Corner”, soft metal in Fire Fire to his more quirky signature style seen in “Dragon Bones” that takes after his most popular records. Think; “Sheila”, “Zombie” and “Sticks N Stones”.

Although the album’s release date is yet to be confirmed, and the original Jag Jago tweet has since been deleted, fans are eager to hear the album in the months to come with one person writing “Hearing Jamie T has completed his new album. What a start to the Year”

Hearing Jamie T has completed his new album. What a start to the year

Jamie T new album done OH MY GOD I will spare no expense to go and see him I am SO fucking excited yes yes yes yes yes

— Andrew (@ImSmithyyy) January 6, 2022

Since he was catapulted into the British Indie music scene nearly fifteen years ago. Jamie T’s career has always been one of gradual and continual success. From the release of his first album, Panic Prevention in 2007 he quickly became a voice for the generation growing up alongside him. His music often discusses the struggles of teens (now turned millennials) growing up in Britain during the technological revolution of the early 2000s. Jamie T has been the voice of young England for nearly two decades and there is no doubt he will continue to scribe from a personal stand point and contort these lyrics over truly unique instrumentals (perhaps we will see drum beats complimented by the acapella ‘boom baps’ seen on the catchy spoken word/rap tune “Down To The Subway.”) Put simply, Jamie T is a British musical icon, proof of that being the five NME awards he has be rewarded during his time in the British music community.

Fans and music lovers alike can only hope this next album will have been worth the nearly six year hiatus since his last studio album. We suspect fans may also want to keep their eyes out for a new tour and festival line ups to come as we move into another music defining era for Jamie T.
