In an interview with Zane Lowe on his Radio station ‘Beats 1′ Irish singer-songwriter discussed the prospect of a new album, following the widespread success of his eponymously titled album ‘Hozier’.

“I’ve never been so eager to make music. I’m itching for it. In a big way. If this opportunity had happened at a different time I would have just been spent, but I had had maybe six days of quiet and I can’t really write on the road. But when it all stops and things are quiet again you’re just ready for things to fall out of you. I have a phone full of memos and loads of notebooks with little melodic ideas.”

As mentioned, Hozier’s debut album ‘Hozier’ was met with widespread success, the County Wicklow born singer released his debut album back in 2014. ‘Hozier’ did remarkably well both commercially (reaching top ten chart positions in numerous countries) as well as critically, with hit song ‘Take Me to Church’ being nominated for ‘Song of the Year’ in the 57th Grammy Awards.

Listen to Hozier’s most successful song ‘Take Me to Church Below':

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYSVMgRr6pw

Considering the only release we have had from Hozier in the past two years is ‘Better Love’ a single written for the new Tarzan film, fans of the Irish singer will be hopeful that this interview means that we can expect some new material soon!

Musicians Jack White and Beck are the latest artists to sign a petition against Youtube.

Jack White and Beck join the likes of Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, U2, Guns N’ Roses, Ryan Adams and many many more who have all signed the petition. The petition in question is aiming to stop Youtube from allowing anyone to upload and host musicc; in short to stop fans sharing their music from accounts that aren’t ‘official’. The argument is that as Youtube allows anyone to share and upload material then the already hugely rich musicians are missing out on even more money. There is logic in it as ultimately the music is the musicians artistic property therefore any potential gains from sharing it should go to the artist; however as said the vast majority of these musicians are hugely successful and rich so what’s the harm in a fan sharing their music?

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act is the law that musicians and record labels are looking to reform as they argue it is entirely outdated, having come into work 20 years ago before the digital music streaming explosion.

The petition makes the argument that the likes of Youtube (whilst not directly mentioned) make:

“huge profits” by allowing people “to carry almost every recorded song in history in their pocket via a smartphone, while songwriters’ and artists’ earnings continue to diminish.”

Ultimately I doubt this petition will hugely affect Youtube as the people that are against Youtube are a minority in comparison to those who like and enjoy the service Youtube provides.

At The Drive-In have today confirmed that the rest of their North American tour is set to be cancelled; this follows At The Drive-In having cancelled their two last concerts in Washington DC and New York respectively.

However whilst fans are obviously disappointed, they can’t complain too much as At The Drive-In confirmed that the reason for the cancellations are injury to lead singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s vocal chords, so it makes sense to not risk any further damage.

At The Drive-In released a statement on Facebook reiterating this:

Apologies to all our fans in NYC that were coming to our show. Cedric has a health concern with his vocal chords and can’t perform this evening. It is not possible to play without furthering his injury.

Thank you for your support!

ATDI has a goal to be a band for a very long time and we don’t want to impede that in any way.

We will be back!

Tickets can be refunded from point of purchase.

Although fans are somewhat irritated as At The Drive-In cancelled their last concert on the 15th June in Washington DC due to Bixler-Zavala’s vocal chords, yet they still pushed forward with this gig in New York’s Terminal 5 venue. Drummer Tony Hajjar responded to this when talking to the crowd:

We feel horrible. Obviously we set up, we’re here. We sound-checked, and we couldn’t get to it and it’s not plausible for us to do a show. And this is New York, this means the world to us. Terminal 5 means the world to us.”

This is At The Drive-In’s comeback tour, having made sporadic appearances at festivals over the years since their first break up over ten years ago so the news that the rest of their North American tour is cancelled will be hugely disappointing to fans as this will have been the first chance for a lot of fans to finally see them live.

English singer-songwriter Jess Glynne has today announce the details of her eagerly anticipated new UK tour.

Glynne’s debut album came out last August in 2015, titled ‘I Cry When I Laugh’. ‘I Cry When I Laugh’ was met with a good commercial reception, doing relatively well in the charts and sales; however it was also met with a definite mixed reception from critics.

When the album was released Jess Glynne was already an established name, but rather an established name as a collaborator than a stand alone artists. Initially finding success providing vocals to numerous EDM tracks, most famously ‘Rather Be’ with Clean Bandit; listen to that below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-M1AtrxztU

Glynne is also set to perform at the world famous Glastonbury festival later this year.

See the dates and locations of Glynne’s UK tour below:

18/11/16 – Birmingham – Genting Arena
20/11/16 – Liverpool – Echo Arena
22/11/16 – Dublin – 3Arena
24/11/16 – Leeds – First Direct Arena
25/11/16 – Newcastle – Metro Radio Arena
27/11/16 – Brighton – Centre
28/11/16 – Plymouth – Pavilions
30/11/16 – London – The 02
01/12/16 – Cardiff – Motorpoint Arena

It seems that Glynne has a very busy November ahead of her, with eight separate dates throughout the month, and whilst England isn’t that big, it’s still a lot of travelling for the singer!

The tour is titled the ‘Take Me Home Tour’ which is titled after Glynne’s successful hit song ‘Take Me Home’ listen to that below:

Bastille’s second album has been heavily rumoured for a while now, what with the band performing brand new songs at gigs recently. See our article on this here.

The video announcing details regarding their new album was also posted on Youtube:

Back in February lead singer Dan Smith discussed the prospects of their second album, revealing that one was certainly in the works:

“I’ve heard lots of bands talking about making their ‘difficult’ second album, but we never thought that far ahead. I guess, until recently, we haven’t had much time to think about it,” Dan Smith said in the video.

“We’ve been so lucky to be touring constantly over the past few years, and it’s been a lot of fun,” he continued. “But it’s meant that we’ve massively had to adapt the way that we make music. This new album has been written and recorded on tour buses, in backstage rooms and hotels all over the place. The process of writing and making the songs hasn’t changed much, it’s just that this time around, we’re doing way less of it in my bedroom.”

Bastille of course first emerged on the UK music scene back in 2013 with their debut album ‘Bad Blood’. ‘Bad Blood’ was the start of a great year for Bastille, which culminated with them being nominated for four Brit Awards, ultimately winning ‘Best British Breakthrough Act’.

It’s been a long three years without any new material from Bastille, so hopefully with their album being announced we can expect some official singles soon!

Early 2000s pop rock group Busted have today announced that they have managed to secure a record deal which enables them the opportunity to release their third album.

The news regarding their upcoming third album has been covered by a wide range of media sources, BBC Radio 1 were particularly excited about the news:

Busted have signed a deal with record label East West Records, who are an offshoot of the larger Warner Music Group. The UK president of East West Records, Dan Chalmers had this to say on the news and the sound of the new album:

“managed to combine the classic Busted sound with a modern twist” on their new album.

“We’re really happy to be working with Charlie, Matt and James as well as their management team and we’re dedicated to delivering a massive new record,”

The band also spoke to newspaper The Sun about their upcoming album:

“We’ve had an incredible time on our arena tour, and are now looking forward to releasing new music through a global partnership with East West. It’s great to see Dan, Howard and the team as excited about the new music as we are.

“The album is done, it’s ready to go. We’ve just got to do the little finishing touches.

Busted are seemingly very excited about their upcoming album and who can blame them! In the same interview they expressed their thoughts on the new material:

“It’s the best s**t we’ve ever done by ten times. The first single is f***ing ridiculous. I’m more proud of our first single than anything I’ve ever done in my life. It is the most epic song, it’s ridiculous.”

In an interview with Metalforces, Metallica drummer and co-founder Lars Ulrich released details regarding their upcoming album. With Lars saying that the album might not be released this calendar year.

“If the record doesn’t come out this year then it won’t be because it’s not done,” he stated. “It will be because there’s some sort of cosmic reason that it would be smarter to hold onto it until next year.”

However no fear Metallica fans, he also confirmed that the album, seemingly no matter what, is set to be completed this year; with Lars saying that:

“But the record will be done this summer”.

We first heard news of an upcoming album from Metallica back in February when lead guitarist Kirk Hammett confirmed reports that the legendary thrash band were releasing new material; see our article on that here.

Metallica’s last album came eight years ago in 2008 with ‘Death Magnetic’, which was met with more critical acclaim than perhaps expected. Whilst still a household name and a phenomenally significant band, Metallica struggled to please both fans and critics with past albums ‘Reload’ and ‘St. Anger’. ‘Death Magnetic’ worked as well as it did as it was more of a throwback to what Metallica so often did best, with pacey, heavy metal and long complex guitar solos.

Hopefully with the new album we’ll see more material similar to the incredible ‘Ride The Lightning’, ‘…And Justice for All’ and ‘Master of Puppets’.

Listen to one of Metallica’s most famous songs ‘Nothing Else Matters’ below:

Glastonbury lasts for four days, spreading out from the 22nd June till the 26th June. Arguably one of the world’s leading festivals, certainly one of the most famous; Glastonbury boasts a wide range of different genres and different art forms. Whilst Glastonbury is of course most famous for its Pyramid stage and hosting the biggest and best in the music world, Glastonbury also hosts numerous comedians and theatre, often found at the aptly titled ‘Theatre and Circus Stage’.

Tickets for Glastonbury this year have of course sold out, as they so often do days after they are released. But this doesn’t mean you have to necessarily miss out on all the fun, if you are UK based then the BBC often broadcast the vast majority of the festival.
