Throughout the first week of December the group will take the stage at the SWG3 Warehouse in Glasgow to kick off the tour on the 2nd of December and then continue across the UK where they will play Manchester, their home town Liverpool, and Birmingham. They will then say their farewells at The Dome in London on December 7. Speaking about the tour in a press release, Crawlers shared: “We’ve been waiting for the perfect time to do our first headline in the UK with an album in the world — we can’t wait to get back on the road.’

In a press release announcing their debut album which hit the shelves in February, front-woman Holly Minto, “This album debut comes from us honing our craft, being vulnerable with each other, finding our sound and saying exactly what we wanted to. I think that’s a lot of what the Crawlers sound is, being honest with each other about how to get the correct emotions out – trying, failing, and pushing each other to keep playing and writing to the limits.”

After their song “Come Over (Again)” went viral on TikTok in 2021, which according to the Warrington Guardian has over 65,000 posts with it in the background, the band have seen exponential success with The Mess We Seem To Make and supporting various artists on world tours such as Mother Mother earlier this year and are currently supporting Jane’s Addiction Love and Rockets on their, recently expanded, North American tour

The iconic universal rock duo from Manchester, none other than Oasis, have announced their first UK and Ireland tour in 16 years which will take place in summer 2025. They are one of the most successful groups to emerge from the ‘Britpop’ era which defined the mid 90s and after a 15 year hiatus they are back performing on their wittily named ‘live 25′ tour.

After an abrupt break up in 2009 the both the whole of Great Britain and fans internationally have been perched on the edge of their sofas grasping for any sign of a reunion of the brothers. The status of the relationship between the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, is a frequent talking point in the Britpop and Rock community as it has been notoriously turbulent. The buzz regarding a reunion has continued to intensified and then fizzle out time and time again like earlier this year when the official Oasis X account posted abstruse footage of a large countryside house on a riverbank which several fans believed to be a clue pointing towards an impending reunion. Unfortunately it was simply promoting limited edition versions of existing albums.

The latest speculation on the duo’s reconciliation began to boil over after Liam Gallager’s son Gene Gallagher mentioned in an interview with The Times that his father had expressed a desire for an Oasis reunion. He provided the online article with and insight into his fathers feelings on a potential reunion saying that “I get the feeling my dad wants it, too,” Gene stated in the Times interview. though he acknowledged the complexities involved, adding, “It’s easier to speak about after a couple of pints”. You can read more on that story right here on the MXDWN UK site.

However everything changed for fans on the 25th of August after Liam Gallagher posted a slightly cryptic message to his X page (formerly known as twitter) declaring ‘I never did like that word FORMER’.

The post was met with immense fever and has been viewed over 9.6 million times by the sites users who were almost certain that the incoming news would be announcing Oasis’s return to the stage. Fans guessed correctly with both Noel and Liam making announcements on their personal social media accounts this morning at 8am as well as on the official Oasis account which you can check out below. The duo also released a slightly enigmatic poem to the page stating that ‘The guns have fallen silent. / The stars have aligned. / The great wait is over. / Come see. / It will not be televised.’

Oasis will tour the UK & Ireland in summer 2025! Tickets go on sale this Saturday 31st August.

Though he is best known as the dummer for hit 90s British rock band Blur, Dave Rowntree was selected as Labour’s candidate for Mid Sussex, running against the Conservative’s who held that seat at the time. Last Thursday’s general election saw him come in third behind the Liberal Democrat and Conservative candidates.

Last week’s election was a historic one ending 14 years of Conservative party rule with a Labour victory with the party securing over 410 Parliamentary seats however unluckily for some Labour candidates in certain constituencies failed to gain seats like Blur’s Dave Rowntree. The Mid Sussex seat was awarded to the Liberal Democrat candidate Alison Elizabeth Bennett’s who managed to snatch up 39% of the vote share. The Mid Sussex district is a solid conservative area so despite the surprising Lib-Dem win, Rowntree only gained 17% of the vote coming in third behind the Conservatives. This is the first time the Tory party have been unseated since the constituency’s establishment in 1974.

The Mid Sussex constituency includes the town’s Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and the Mid Sussex villages. Rowntree has been operating in the political sphere for some time now winning his first local election in 2017 which granted him a seat on Norwich County Council however Labour selected him to run for a more senior role this year as MP for Mid Sussex.

According to an article by Pitchfork, Rowntree announced his entering into the race in a statement where he stated that ‘Residents have their best chance in a generation to make their vote count and return a Labour MP to parliament. The Tories have run out of ideas, and the Lib Dems have run out of steam. I’m running for parliament to provide the energy and vision the area so desperately needs’.

After the polls were counted on Friday morning, Rowntree took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to congratulate his fellow party members who obtained parliamentary seats and also to thank the residents who voted for him.

Thank you so much to my campaign team and the 9397 people who voted for me in Mid Sussex!
It was a privilege to be a small part of such a momentous day, and I’m immenseley proud of my @UKLabour friends who are now Members of Parliament.

Rowntree took part in Blur’s reunion as the group rebounded after an 8 year hiatus to play a round of shows across the world which they wrapped up last December in North America. the reformation of the hit 90s brit-pop band saw the creation of their 9th studio album The Ballad of Darren in 2023 as well as their anticipated Live at Wembley album which hits the shelves on the 26th of July as well as their concert film which you can catch in cinemas on September 6th. You can read about the upcoming concert film and live album as well as the band’s upcoming documentary film Blur: To the End here.

Experimental American hip-hop artist and producer JPEGMafia, known formally as Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks or “Peggy”, is due to perform at Manchester’s Albert Hall on the 31st of January 2025 as part of his ‘Lay Down My Life Tour’. The tour is rumoured to be in support of his upcoming fifth full-length album which is currently untitled.

Hendricks is yet to set a release date for the upcoming LP however he confirmed the news in an Instagram post with the very vague caption ‘album is on the way’. Fans haven’t just been left with breadcrumbs however as the avant-garde rapper dropped the first single lifted from the unreleased record ‘don’t rely on other men’ which is the alternative rappers first solo single since 2021 however it was written in collaboration with and frequent appearance on Peggy’s tracks, FREAKY – an extremely elusive and rarely ever pictured Baltimore rapper.

Hendricks is due to hit the road for his U.S. leg of the ‘Lay Down My Life Tour’ in August which will see him perform in cities all across the U.S. such as LA, Chicago, San Fransisco, Dallas, New York, Orgegan, California and even stop off for a show in Vancouver, Canada however it is speculated that the untitled project won’t be released before then. Lucky for UK fans they don’t all have to scramble for tickets to JPEGMafia’s Albert Hall show as he won’t just be stopping off in Manchester when he touches down in the UK. The rapper has just released tour dates on his Instagram for cities like Glasgow, London, Brighton and Bristol as well as shows all across European cities, including Berlin, Barcelona, Paris, Brussels. For a full list of UK dates, see below.

A unique library exhibit names ‘Beyond the Bassline: 500 Years of Black British Music’ which focuses on the deep and esoteric history of music by the UK’s African and Caribbean communities has re-opened at the British Library in London this weekend. The instillation is made of up five areas where according to the British Library website, visitors can experience ‘specially commissioned soundscapes, artworks and film installations produced by artists and collectives across the UK.’

The British Library were required to shut down events at the building due to what they described as ‘planned electrical work’ which was scheduled due to major technology outage as a result of a cyber-attack‘ throughout the last week of June, however the doors to ‘Beyond the Baseline’ re-opened as of noon on the 30th of June so that history buffs and music lovers alike can spend the summer enjoying the spectacular array of artifacts and immersive artworks.

According to an article by RAWSTORY the exhibit is ‘made up of five sections’ beginning with ‘ “Ocean”, which explores the black British music’s fraught colonial past’ and ending with ‘ “Cyberspace”, which examines the modern-day impacts of technology and the rising mainstream popularity of black British artists.’

‘Beyond the Bassline’ will run till the 24th of August and features historical artifacts — such as the tuning fork gifted to black violinist George Bridgetower by Beethoven as a token of their friendship after the duos inaugural performance of their piece ‘Kreutzer’ as well as the 16ft tall peacock costume designed by Leeds Carnival veteran Hughbon Condor who has been creating costumes for over 50 years.

Talking to AFP, Aleema Gray who has curated the exhibit, sees it as a “journey… through time and space”. Gray mentioned that the use of “we” and “our” in the text labels that accompany many of the instillations are intended directly address visitors “like is we are speaking to” them. The target audience of the exhibition is “young people, music fans and people of African and Caribbean heritage community”, primarily those who have previously felt unwelcome at institutions such as the British Library .

The British Library have worked in collaboration with a number of community organisations across the UK for create sound scapes and moving images as well as a dance video which was filmed in Cardiff on the coast by the group Jukebox Collective as well as and an installation imitating a church which honours influence of religion on black British music.

The final section is a immersive short film by the name Iwoyi, created by director and producer Tayo Rapoport and Rohan Ayinde in collaboration the group Touching Bass.

Iconic 00s rock band Kasabian were revealed to be the secret set on Glastonbury’s Woodsies stage this year. The Woodsies stage escalated and transposed many acts and genres this year including, as described on the Glastonbury website, ‘indie rock and pop, Irish rap, punk and metal to chart music and plenty more to get you dancing’.

The Woodsies stage was previously know as the ‘John Peel’ stage up until 2023 when it was changed to reflect the field in which it is found like many of the other venues that make up Glastonbury. The stage gained its previous name in 2004 after the passing of influential radio DJ ‘John peel’ in that same year. When the change was made Co-organiser Emily Eavis told the Guardian it would take on its current name ‘Woodsies’ ‘as part of a push to name stages after the fields they are located in, such as West Holts and Silver Hayes.’

The iconic stage hosted an exciting array of artists this year with headline sets from Gossip and Jamie xx and James Blake who closed the stage on Sunday night. The stage also sported peformances from Sampha, Arlo Parks, Declan Mckenna, Remi Wolf, Soccer Mommy, The Vaccines

The set was confirmed by the band via an Instagram post on the morning of the performance. This has been the group’s first appearance at the festival since 2014 and according to a review by the Guardian the Woodsies tent was ‘the busiest it has been since the Killers played their own secret set here in 2017. Not just the tent but the whole field is full, with most attendees only able to follow the gig by craning their necks to look at a screen.’

Notorious for being ahead of the curve, the @secretglasto twitter account had the news first, confirming the bands attendance after releasing a series of cryptic tweets teasing the bands attendance.

Despite the opinion that, as written by the Guardian, the group are supposedly ‘firmly on the slide in 2024′ after the withdrawal of previous member Tom Meighan due to his conviction for assaulting his partner in 2020 which you can read about in an article by the BBC, it seems that the secret show was a massive hit amongst attendees with fans flocking to the venue. The team behind the @secretglasto account, which is no way affiliated with the festival, released a post letting fans and those hopeful to catch the group know that the access to the stage was closed half an hour before Kasabian were due to perform at 6:00 pm.

Though some festival goers felt disappointed, as many speculated that American rock icons Kings of Leon would be taking the stage at some point this weekend, spirits were still at their zenith with critics and fans alike all agreeing that Kasabian were ‘outstanding’ and it seems the band felt it too with guitarist Segio Pizzorno telling the crowd that “This is one of the greatest days in this band’s history” as they played the festival a whole 20 years after their Glastonbury debut.

Climate protestors from the activist group ‘Just Stop Oil’ have filmed themselves spray painting jets in London Stansted’s VIP jet area orange in search of Swift’s plane which was believed to have landed hours earlier for the Fortnight singers Wembley show that evening.

The protestors filled fire extinguishers with orange paint, the signature colour of much of the groups distinctive branding and forced entry into the private airfield at 5am on Thursday morning and covered two jets with the paint. According to the Independent ‘Police sources said they had since been informed that the Shake It Off singer’s jet wasn’t at the private airfield.’ at the time of the attack. A similar demonstration took place at Stonehenge on Wednesday this week, where by protestors used the same technique of spraying paint onto the iconic structure.

The ‘Just Stop Oil’ website uploaded a post on the incident quoting one of the protestors Cole Macdonald, who is just 22 and from Brighton, saying “We’re living in two worlds: one where billionaires live in luxury, able to fly in private jets away from the other, where unlivable conditions are being imposed on countless millions. Meanwhile, this system that is allowing extreme wealth to be accrued by a few, to the detriment of everyone else, is destroying the conditions necessary to support human life in a rapidly accelerating never-ending ‘cruel summer’.” Quoting one of the international pop-stars most beloved songs to emphasise the state of affairs.

The pair also uploaded a series of photos with the targeted jets along with a video of the demonstration which you can watch below.

It has been virtually impossible to escape media coverage of the superstar behind the Era’s tour and discourse surrounding her carbon emissions. In an article by Newsweek, it is stated that between December 25 and January 30 swifts jet produced 77.8342 tons of carbon dioxide. The data comes from the twitter account @SwiftJetNextDay which tracks the jet on its various excursions. The mind man behind the account is Jack Sweeney, celebrity jet trader and University of Central Florida student. Sweeney faced legal action from Swift’s team earlier this year and has since ceased his updates on the jets movements however conversation around the singers trips has continued. In February a member of Swift’s publicist team told the BBC “she does use carbon offsets to compensate her private jet travel.”

The Independent article claims that Essex police were “on the scene within minutes and detained two people,”. They also claims that while they aren’t ani-protest they “will always take action where criminal acts take place.”

Despite the on-going discussions over Swift’s carbon emissions, seemingly, her popularity hasn’t taken a hit as she is due to play three sold out shows at Wembley this week, and another three in August. Fans from all over the word have flocked to venues across the UK to catch Swift’s infamous Eras tour which sees the star play various hits and lesser known songs alike across her entire 12 album discography.

He was a member of the hit 90s dance music trio Dario G which formed in Cheshire in the 1990s. The group was originally a duo with Spencer and his counterpart Scott Rosser having met at university in Manchester. They began their journey into electronic beats in Spencer’s home in Cheshire and it wasn’t long before two became three and third member Stephen Spencer was invited to join the ensemble. Despite popular conceptions Paul and Stephen had no relation to each other.

At the beginning of their formation Dario G were forced to change their name from the original Dario to how they are known today due to the danger of running into legal troubles at the hands of an artist carrying the same name. The group decided to decided on a name that paid tribute to both the manager of Crewe Alexandra F.C at the time, Dario Gradi, as well as adding the G in honour of jazz artist Kenny G.

The group released ‘Sunchyme’ in 1997 which became a massive hit earning itself the number 1 spot on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Party chart. It was only kept from reaching number one in the UK by ‘Candle in the Wind’ which was a tribute to Princess Diana by Elton John at the time of her death. ‘Sunchyme’s’ popularity was only exemplified by the fact it sold over 600,000 copies just in the UK alone. They then released their second record breaker ‘Carnival de Paris’ which, according to an article by the BBC, “became an unofficial anthem of the 1998 World Cup in Paris, and was later re-released for the 2002 tournament.” Both singles featured on Dario G’s debut album which just celebrated its 25th anniversary last year.

Dario G released three albums throughout their career, only one of which can be accredited to the full trio as after the release of their first album ‘Sunmachine’ the trio disbanded with Scott Roser and Stephen Spencer leaving to take up various other projects. Paul Spencer became a solo artist but still continued under the name Dario G, releasing two more albums ‘In Full Colour’ in 2001 and his most recent work ‘Hola’ in 2020. Spencer was due to play a show at the Chris Moyles 90s Hangover concert in May but had to pull out due to poor health. He will be missed by many.
