In an interview with BBC Radio 2 yesterday (2 June), Sinead O’Connor announced that she will release a new album in 2022. According to Carson Daly post-interview with O’Connor, it is to be called ‘No Veteran Dies Alone.’ This will be her eleventh studio album and her first album in eight years after her 2014 release ‘I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss.’ She also previously spoke about it in an interview with The New York Times, sharing that it would be seven songs long. In this previous discussion about it, however, the project name had not yet been revealed.

The album announcement follows the release of her memoir, “Rememberings,” which tells the story of the Irish singer’s complicated life, from childhood abuse by her mother to her infamous protest on Saturday Night Live in 1992, where she ripped a picture of the pope on live TV. This would eventually lead to the boycott of her music and a shift in her career path.

Many considered the event to lead to the demise of her success as a musician, but O’Connor believes it allowed her to change her career path for the better. She explains that the real problem was misunderstanding the type of musician she was in the first place, saying, “my career was derailed by having a number one hit single that turned me into a pop star, which I wasn’t – I was a protest singer.”

Sinead O’Connor, who legally changed her name to Shuhada Sadaqat after converting to Islam, has not shared many details about the upcoming album. According to Official Charts, the album will be released in 2022 (originally scheduled for late 2021). It will be produced by Belfast musician David Holmes and its cover art will be created by Donegal illustrator Jacob Stack. The 54-year-old singer shared her enthusiasm about the collaboration on Twitter but the account has since been closed. Fortunately, the artwork wasn’t revealed in that tweet so there is no sneak peek that was deleted.

Since the pandemic began, she has kept more to herself, living alone just outside of Belfast. Though she enjoys this kind of living, she will step outside of her current comfort zone to go on tour this summer in the US, Ireland and Italy. She will also have another tour in summer of 2022 after the release of her new album, making stops in the US, Ireland and the Netherlands; she’s not sure how much longer touring will be in the cards for her after this.

In her interview with Carson Daly, she shared that touring is “a young person’s game..My soul and spirit are 17, and are certain of it, but my body thinks it’s 70.” Touring may be a young person’s game, but the singer currently has sold out shows that prove that listeners everywhere still want to hear more from her, and for now, she’s giving the people what they want.

Alanis Morissette has rescheduled her UK tour again, pushing it back to November 2021.Originally, the tour was scheduled for October 2020 to honour the 25th anniversary of her album ‘Jagged Little Pill,’ as well as the release of the her latest album ‘Such Pretty Forks in Road.’ It was then postponed to October 2021 due to the pandemic and now once more the pandemic has forced her to reschedule for November 2021.

While some legs of the tour have had shows cancelled, the UK will have new shows added to the list. The Canadian-American singer will now perform in Leeds, Glasgow and stay an additional night in London this fall for two consecutive nights at the O2. These cities join Birmingham and Manchester in getting to hear the live performances of the 47-year-old’s 1995 album, latest album and maybe even a brand new song.

Morissette just released a single yesterday (1 June) called ‘On the Road Again’ with legendary country singer Willie Nelson. It seems the longer ticket holders have to wait, the more reasons there are that the show will be a can’t-miss.

Morissette gained her fame after releasing her third studio album, ‘Jagged Little Pill’ in 1995, which stayed at number one on the UK charts for eleven weeks. Liz Phair who also achieved her success in the 90’s will accompany Morissette on her upcoming tour. As with many other postponed tours, tickets for previous dates (original or otherwise) will still be valid for the new dates, and those who wish for refunds will be directly contacted via email for their options.

For the three new shows, tickets will go on sale on Friday 4 June at 10am. The songwriter explained how things will work via Twitter yesterday: “tickets to all of the new shows go on sale this friday, june 4th, at 10am local time. mailing list pre-sale for all (except London) starts on June 3 at 10am local time.

Queen drummer Roger Taylor has just announced a UK Tour this autumn.
The tour will include songs from the upcoming album, but the 71-year-old has shared that some classic songs from Queen’s repertoire will also be included along the way. He’ll have help from some friends as well, including a few who have played alongside Queen during previous tours. The musical team will be comprised of Queen + Adam Lambert’s keyboardist Spike Edney and supporting drummer Tyler Warren, guitarist Jason Falloon and keyboardist Angie Pollock and bassist Charlie Jones, who both play for electronic duo Goldfrapp.

Taylor seems grateful to have gotten this group together after such a long time of not playing live, saying, “For some time now, we’ve all just been trying to get by. Now, it’s back to the basics, myself and some great musical pals getting back out there to play some rock.” This will be his first tour since Queen’s European/UK leg of their Rhapsody tour had to be postponed to 2022.

The legendary rocker will make stops in many UK cities between 2-22 October, such as Liverpool and Nottingham. His forthcoming album has a comparatively quick turnaround time after his last release ‘Fun on Earth’ from 2013. With regards to how quickly he finished the album, Taylor shares, “I’ve had a bit of a creative spurt and suddenly found myself with an album, which was lovely. It was a surprise. I just found myself in the studio and they came out one after the other. It was a pleasure really.” The ease with which he wrote the album will no doubt show up in the performances.

You can preorder the album now, and by doing that, have access to presale tickets when they go on sale at 10am on 8 June. Details can be found on his website here, and the tour dates are listed below.

Vistas just released their latest single, ‘Dayglow,’ this past week (25 May). It is the third single they’ve released from their upcoming second album, ‘What Were You Hoping to Find,’ following ‘Start Again’ (30 March) and ‘Stuck in Your Head’ (27 April). And true to form, it’s a lively alt-pop song that somehow reminds one of days’ past, reminiscing about youth while still experiencing some of those youthful days.

In chatting with Far Out, lead singer Prentice Robertson talks about how the single came about from trying to have an optimistic outlook on lockdown: “At that time, I would often daydream about things I wanted to do when lockdown ended and I found that was a good way for me to deal with what was happening. It made me miss those lost nights with my favourite people but also made me optimistic that they would happen again and that’s what helped pull me through.”

And it seems the current pandemic has been a driving force behind the entire album; the Scottish band shares that the concept for it is based around the feeling of uncertainty and maybe not having the answers, but showing that just asking the questions is enough. They also were able to pen the album relatively quickly thanks to all of the unexpected free time. According to Dork, Robertson explains, “I guess the pandemic probably nudged that forward by giving us time to focus more on writing. It’s also difficult for bands to do much else than write, record and release music during this period of time and we wanted people to have some new tunes to look forward to when we eventually get back to gigging safely.”

The indie rock band had originally scheduled a slew of UK gigs scheduled for November and December of 2020, and after two postponements, the tour is now rescheduled to September and December of 2021. They will be playing songs from their debut album, ‘Everything Changes in the End,’ which reached 21 on UK charts and no. 1 on the UK’s Independent Albums Charts. And now that there’s been a bit more time than originally planned, attendees will likely get to hear ‘Dayglow’ live and other songs from their second album, which will be out on 20 August.

Glass Animals have had so much success in the music world, that they can now follow their true passion of making peanut butter for the masses. Well, it may not be their true passion, but they are making peanut butter for the masses, and it’s for a good musical cause. They have partnered with Music Venue Trust, a charity that helps to protect, secure, and improve grassroots music venues in the UK. As new patrons of the organisation, they are collaborating with peanut butter company Jackpot, who sell peanut butter in reusable pots. For every tub of peanut butter they sell, £2 will go to MVT.

In a Twitter post, lead singer Dave Bayley shared how the project came about and why the band was so keen for the collaboration:

“I’ve been eating jackpot peanut butter for years. There’s a jackpot stall in a market next to my house in Hackney, and I loved the look of the packaging to be honest…plus it had a quote from Gremlins on. So I picked up a tub. It was delicious. And that’s when I started reading the small print on the back. Each sale includes a donation to Music Venue Trust, the charity which looks after grassroots music venues…ie the venues that gave us a shot in the early days when we had no idea what we were doing…the venues that need help to survive but do an extraordinary amount for music culture.

“And then I read further and saw that the tub can be brought back and refilled!!!…eventually cut to three years, many refills, and 1,293 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches later, we turned up at our rehearsal space, and there sat four tubs of jackpot peanut butter with our names printed on and a small note saying to get in touch. We got in touch. and this is the result. Glass Animals x Jackpot Peanut Butter.”

The packaging for the indie band’s edition of peanut butter may not have a Gremlins quote on it, but it does quote their 2014 single ‘Gooey,’ from their debut album ‘Zaba,’ saying “You just wanna know those pb vibes.” It also has a warning along the bottom of the design, “WARNING: as cold as an old ice cream sandwich / as focused as mr miyagi” which is a lyric from their song ‘Tangerine,’ on their 2020 ‘Dreamland’ that reached top 10 on US and UK charts.

The special edition of peanut butter is set to start shipping from 10 June for the UK and EU, and 18 June for the rest of the world. But much like purchasing tickets to a show, you can place a preorder as of yesterday 27 May. If a jar of peanut butter isn’t your thing, they will also be selling Glass Animal sweatshirts with a peanut butter pancake recipe on the back, called “Dave’s Jackpot Pancake Recipe.” You can place your order for either on Jackpot’s website here. You can also check them out live as they go on a UK tour in November.

Ellen Allien has announced a tour in the EU and UK this summer and ahead of this physical tour, she will be live-streaming tonight (27 May) at 8pm CEST (7pm BST) from Kraftwerk Berlin. Kraftwerk Berlin is a former power plant turned techno club where many exhibitions and live shows have plenty of space to take place. So it’s the perfect place for the techno giant to perform. Even if you are watching online, you can get a feel for the experience you may have had if you were dancing in the crowd, except you will actually be able to watch Allien work her magic the entire time. In an interview with Electronic Groove, the ‘Leave Me Alone’ artist explains, “The music I am playing is the most important action here in my streamings. I love to play tunes, unreleased tracks, and edits I did. It’s a platform where we can dance together at the same time all around the world…which keeps our vibe alive.”

The DJ has been very busy this year; this livestream is one of many she’s done this year, playing sets throughout April, and her most recent livestream on 1 May from her balcony. She also released a new album, ‘Auraa Rmxs 1′ back in March. These remixed four songs from her 2020 album ‘Auraa’. And her reasoning behind creating these pieces is something we can all relate to: frustration with COVID. As the BPitch founder chatted with Limited Clubbing, she shared her inspiration: “On AurAA many of the tracks are about the world we live in and things that are more important to me… vibes. Energies we feel and the feeling of living with covid.” In spite of all of the restrictions, Allien has continued to share her music with the world virtually, and will soon be able to do so in-person.

Her tour will start in Moscow on 12 June and end at the Riverside Festival in Glasgow on 5 September, making stops in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and Croatia along the way. You can purchase tickets on her website here, and find the list of dates below.

Greentea Peng has just announced dates for her UK tour in spring of 2022. The singer made the announcement on Instagram, and she will make stops in cities like Birmingham, London, and more. The South East Londoner will also have her band, the Seng Seng Family, accompany her.

The tour will be called the MAN MADE tour, hot on the heels of her debut album of the same name that will be released on 4 June of this year. The 26-year-old shared that those who pre-saved the upcoming album before 4pm BST today (26 May) will have access to presale tickets for the tour that will go on sale 9am tomorrow (27 May). She has been building up continuous momentum for the anticipated album, as she has now released three singles from the album. She previously released singles ‘Nah It Ain’t the Same’ in February, ‘Kali V2′ in April, and most recently ‘Dangling’ this month. The psychedelic R&B artist takes the time to plan each lyric and each song. She has clearly chosen the tour and singles with intent, as she shares in an interview with Paste magazine, “If I thought of making an album, I’m thinking about The Fugees’ The Score or The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. I never wanted to put out half-hearted projects with an accumulation of random songs.”

Greentea Peng, known as Aria Wells when not performing, became more well-known after appearing on a COLORS show back in 2019. A quick turnaround, she had only decided to fully pursue music in 2018, saying, “For a few years, I was very insular. Singing was not a part of the identity I had created for myself. I fell out of love with singing. But I fell back into music while living on the beach in Mexico and I was mad, because why did I stop doing this? It’s the only thing I enjoy properly.”

As you wait to listen to the result of her enjoyment in the album, you can still purchase tickets for the tour. The MAN MADE tour will begin at Concorde 2 in Brighton on 17 March, and conclude at the Marble Factory in Bristol on 2 April. Tickets, merchandise, and more information can be found on Greentea Peng’s website here, and the tour dates are listed below.

Legendary band The Who has further cemented their status as one of the most influential rock bands in the UK as the Royal Mint creates a coin for them to be part of their Music Legends Collection. According to NME, Clare Maclennan, divisional director of commemorative coin at the Royal Mint said: “The Who are an iconic British band with an incredible musical legacy, so it felt right to honour them with an official UK coin.” They join other UK artists David Bowie, Elton John, and Queen.

The design of the coin, done by artist Henry Gray, is a nod to several images that are associated with The Who and some of their most well-known characteristics. It includes a mod logo, a Rickenbacker guitar with a Union flag design, all in the shape of a pinball machine, which references both their record-breaking loud performances and ‘Pinball Wizard’ from ‘ Tommy,’ the hit rock opera that they are most recognized by. Lead singer Roger Daltrey was at the Royal Mint to give his approval of the design, striking one of the first ones. He shared his thoughts on the new coin while there, saying, “When I first saw this design, I thought, ‘How imaginative!’ I mean, it just summed up in one visual, The Who. Seeing the way they’re coloured and the technique used to do that is incredibly impressive…it actually feels like quite an honour.”

The range became available yesterday morning (24 May) at 9am, and what a range it is. Collectors can spend as little as £13 for a £5 brilliant coin; or if you want to consider something a little more expensive, you can spend up to £2,315 for a one ounce gold proof coin. There are also five more coins that will soon become available and at the top of that list is a gold proof coin that weighs in at one kilo and will be £68,380 according to Louder. There are only 12 available, so the lucky 12 who purchase it can claim bragging rights of being the ultimate The Who fans. The renowned rock band was honoured by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Rolling Stone in their list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and can now add this to their extensive list of achievements.

‘The Cher Show’ is set to make its European debut at Curve Theatre in Leicester in 2022. It is a musical about the life of pop legend, Cher, that first opened on Broadway in 2018 and closed the following year. It won two Tony Awards in that short time (Stephanie J. Block for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role and Bob Mackie for Best Costume Design of a Musical, who was Cher’s actual costumier). Now, it is being brought across the pond in an all-new production, produced by Tom de Keyser and Hamish Greer of Royo Entertainment with Strictly Come Dancing’s Arlene Phillips and Oti Mabuse as the director and choreographer, respectively, and Gabriella Slade as the costume designer. The show will also have lighting design by Ben Cracknell and sound design by Dan Samson.

According to Leicestershire Live, the musical will follow the life story of Cher from “her rise from a young child with big dreams to the dizzying heights of global stardom, and documents her relationships with her mother, singer Sonny Bono, and fashion designer and costumier Bob Mackie.” And it will do so with her hits as the soundtrack, featuring songs like “Turn Back Time”, “I Got You Babe”, “Strong Enough”, “The Shoop Shoop Song” and “Believe”. Fans should be thrilled with this production, as several of Cher’s biggest fans are working on the show themselves. Phillips said of getting to work on the project:

“I have been a fan of Cher since I first heard ‘I Got You Babe’ in the mid-60s and cannot wait to direct her musical. I love stories about strong inspirational legends like Cher and I am proud to be joined in the creative team by two women who have already made a huge impact in their careers. This exciting show will be a non-stop journey of Cher’s rollercoaster life, bringing to the audience Cher’s iconic songs, glorious dance numbers, unique costumes and her epic drama. All they need to do is come along and Believe.”

For Mabuse, a similar sentiment is expressed about getting to work on a show about such a living legend, saying, “My mum is a big Cher fan and I just remember us playing songs, like Strong Enough, and feeling so empowered as little girls and being in wonder of her outfits and her looks and the confidence that she had. To be asked to actually choreograph her musical, it’s such an honour…I’m going to try and make it as Cher as possible.”

It will be making stops in the following cities: Sunderland, Hull, Sheffield, Manchester, Belfast, Blackpool, Nottingham, Canterbury, Plymouth, Dublin, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Southend, Cardiff, Stoke, Woking, Dartford, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Wolverhampton, Bradford, Brighton, York, Ipswich, Southampton, Northampton, Liverpool, Bristol, Wimbledon, Darlington, Torquay, Oxford, Llandudno, Norwich and Carlisle.
