Frontman Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, and Will Champion joined the spaceman for a live video chat before a performance of the track which featured dance alien-inspired CGI choreography through holograms and visual effects.

Chris told the astronaut: “We sent you some music because right now we aren’t able to play for anybody on Earth so we thought we’d just play for you.” Prior to the single’s release, cryptic billboards appeared around the world pointing to a mysterious website called alienradio.fm. Fans then managed to decipher the letter-like symbols to uncover the song title and release date.

The song bursts in the same way we have come to expect from Coldplay. The bright new song is reminiscent of the group’s “Mylo Xyloto” era with the members sporting similar neon flecked suits with streaks of bright colours.  It was recently reported that Coldplay’s new album is imminent after the group trademarked the phrase “Music Of The Spheres”. Coldplay are set to open the BRIT Awards on 11 May with a spectacular performance of “Higher Power” filmed from a platform on the River Thames. The song will make its live performance debut on American Idol this weekend.

“Higher Power” is available to stream now.

The video features vintage-looking black and white visuals that follow the relationship of lovestruck couple Smith alongside actor and model Gala Gordon.  The video also features a brief appearance from the former Oasis member himself. At the end of the clip Smith and Gordon drive around the streets of London in a classic car.

Video directors Dan Cadan and Jonathan Mowatt explained that the pair had been inspired by the French crime film A Bout De Souffle (aka Breathless). Caden commented, “Renowned for rejecting convention and tradition, French New Wave cinema has a timeless aesthetic that boldly favours experimentation and an iconoclastic spirit. Noel embodies all of the above, so it’s the perfect fit.”

Explaining the meaning behind ‘We’re On Our Way Now’, Gallagher said: “It’s a song about not getting to say goodbye and the frustration of things left unsaid.” The song will feature on Gallagher’s forthcoming ‘Best Of’ album ‘Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)’, which celebrates the 10th anniversary of his band the High Flying Birds. ‘Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)’ will arrive on June 11 via Sour Mash, with a special edition coming the following day (June 12) as part of Record Store Day 2021‘s first drop.

Noel Gallagher was recently announced as the official ambassador for this year’s Record Store Day earlier this week. He stated:  “Record shops were really important when I was growing up. It’s something that’s in my DNA.”

Pinnock added: “We’ve dreamed about this moment for so long and we can’t believe the dream is finally coming true… we can’t wait to meet you.” Pinnock and Gray announced their engagement in May 2020. Calling Gray her soulmate, the star commented that her “world is complete” after getting engaged to “the man of my flipping dreams”. The couple met in Marbella in 2016.

Pinnock’s fellow bandmates Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards were quick to respond to the news and show their support. Edwards wrote, “I can’t stop staring at these pictures. You’re a vision. Ily (I love you) both so much! CONGRATULATIONS my beautiful sister!”. Thirlwall added “Look at this family.” The band later revealed that they had all been wearing baggy clothes in solidarity with Leigh-Anne while she was hiding her pregnancy.

Little Mix most recently released their first music video without former bandmate Jesy Nelson. The video for ‘Confetti’ features the band members transformed as their male alter-egos. Pinnock is seen leading the group in a high energy dance routine despite her pregnancy. In addition, the video also includes stars from Ru Pauls Drag Race UK Season 2 including Bimini Bon Boulash, Tayce and A’Whora.

Pinnock will appear in her first acting role in new film ‘Boxing Day’, which will be released this Christmas. The singer also stars in a new BBC documentary titled “Leigh-Anne: Race, Pop & Power.” Little Mix is scheduled tour starting in April 2022.

This will be the first time that Chris Martin and company will have performed live in over a year. They join the likes of Arlo Parks, Dua Lipa, Griff, Headie One, and Olivia Rodrigo who are also due to perform over the night. Rag’n’Bone Man and P!nk are also set to perform new single “Anywhere Away From Here” with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Choir.

Coldplay have recently been teasing the possibility of a new album rumoured to be called ‘Alien Radio’ through social media and a mysterious website alienradio.fm. This performance at the BRITs could give fans further insight into the band’s future releases. This is not the first time Coldplay have performed at the BRIT’s, the band shared the stage with The Chainsmokers in 2017 and also performed in 2016. Coldplay are in fact the most nominated group in the history of the BRIT’s with 28 nominations and nine wins in total.

The Brit Awards will be on 11 May, 2021. The ceremony will be one of the first major indoor and in-person live music events in the UK in more than a year as part of a government pilot scheme. The event will take place before an audience of 4,000 people, 2,500 of which will be key workers from the Great London area. Comedian Jack Whitehall is set to return as host. Winners this year will be presented with not one but two statuettes, with stars encouraged to share with someone important to them as an “act of kindness”.

‘Crossfire’ is the fourth single from the British singer-songwriter’s upcoming album. Previous singles included ‘All You Ever Wanted’, ‘Fall In Love Again’, and ‘Anywhere Away From Here’ featuring pop icon P!nk. The release of ‘Crossfire’ was accompanied by a live video of Rag’n’Bone Man performing the track live. On the emotional song, the singer said: “‘Crossfire’ as a concept came to me in a really mad dream. I wrote it with Ben JC (my keys player and co-writer for the album) and Bill (my amazing bass player) and I’m so excited to play this one live.”

This news follows speculation from fans after the appearance of a series of cryptic billboards across London, New York, Santiago, and Seoul which pointed to a mysterious website called alienradio.fm. Fans managed to decipher the letter-like symbols to uncover the song title and release date. The website leads to a rotating globe across a grid. Moving the cursor across the globe allows fans to access a selection of multi-lingual messages which range from advertisements for satellite launches to excerpts from classic literature such as Sherlock Holmes and Alice in Wonderland. Coldplay teased the alien radio project on their social media at the beginning of this week.

This website is likely teasing towards a future album from the British rock band.  This would be their ninth studio album following Everyday Life (2019). The band used a teaser campaign for this previous album, using an image of guitarist Jonny Buckland’s great-grandfather’s band in 1919 which serves as the album cover and the official publicity photo.  The album’s tracklist was revealed via classified ads in the hometown newspapers of the band’s members. This included Flintshire, Exeter, Southampton, and Fife along with several other local publications across 10 countries.

Coldplay will be appearing at Glastonbury Festival’s global live stream on Saturday 22 or Sunday 23 May. See further details about tickets here.

The show has been dubbed “The Great Gatsby, A New Musical.” Hannah Giannoulis and James Orange are to serve as executive producers. The production will be co-produced by Access Entertainment. It will be directed by Rebecca Frecknall. An original cast recording will be released by Warner Music. The show is set to open on Broadway in New York. Further details of previews and timings are yet to be released.

In a statement, Welch said: “This book has haunted me for a large part of my life. It contains some of my favourite lines in literature. Musicals were my first love, and I feel a deep connection to Fitzgerald’s broken romanticism. It is an honour to have been offered the chance to recreate this book in song.”

Alongside Welch, the show will feature music from Thomas Bartlett, who records music as Doveman. Bartlett notably collaborated with Sufjan Stevens for the track ‘Mystery of Love’ on the soundtrack to the film Call Me By Your Name. The song was nominated for an Oscar and a Grammy. Previously Welch has been involved in a Gatsby project. Florence + the Machine performed the song ‘Over the Love’ for Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 film adaptation starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Great Gatsby entered the public domain this year which likely sparked this project. Prior to this year unauthorised reproduction, distribution, display, and creation of derivative works would not have been allowed under copyright law.

Future, Skepta, and Migos are billed to headline one night each over the three-day festival spanning September 10-12. In addition to the aforementioned headliners, other acts on this year’s festival bill include Meek Mill, Young Thug, AJ Tracey, D Block Europe, and Lil Baby. Singer Mahalia has called out Wireless for a line-up that was once again overwhelmingly male. Mahalia took to Twitter to express her concern writing: “Wireless back at it again with the penis fest. Whew I’m tired”.

Of the 49-act line-up there are only five female acts. Megan Thee Stallion is featured relatively low on the festival billing despite her success this year, which most recently included picking up three Grammy awards. Other women performing in this year’s festival include Yinka, Ivorian Doll, Darkoo, and Tiffany Calver. This isn’t the first time the festival has been under fire for its unbalanced line-up. Wireless faced a similar backlash in 2018 after booking just three female artists, which dropped to two after Cardi B was forced to pull out.

Wireless joins a slew of other summer festivals that have been criticised for their male-dominated line-ups including Reading and Leeds, Parklife, and Creamfields. Summer festivals are hoping to make a comeback this year following last year’s cancellations due to coronavirus.

Tickets for Wireless 2021 will go on general sale on Thursday (April 29) at 12pm from here, though there is exclusive access to tickets for Barclaycard customers from 12pm today.

The LP will also include previous singles: Craig David collaboration “Really Love”, “Don’t Play” featuring Anne-Marie and Digital Farm Animals, and “Patience” with YUNGBLUD and Polo G. ‘All Over The Place’ follows KSI’s 2020 debut album’Dissimulation’, which saw him collaborate with the likes of Offset, Jeremih, Trippie Redd, Rick Ross, Lil Baby and more.

We are introduced to leading figures Clara Rockmore, Delia Derbyshire, Daphne Oram, Eliane Radigue, Bebe Barron, Pauline Oliveros, Maryanne Amacher, Wendy Carlos, Suzanne Ciani, and Laurie Spiegel, the forgotten women of electronic music. The eighty-two-minute documentary uses archival footage and audio to tell the fascinating accounts of how they influenced what is today one of the most popular mediums of modern music.

Lisa Rovner’s directorial approach gives the film Avant guard feel through its collage of footage and futuristic soundtrack which exhibits the work of the women it profiles. The stories of these composers is told chronologically and follows the evolution of music culture and technology.

The story tackles sexism and the restriction felt by female composers in these male-dominated spaces in an era of idealism and expectations for women which lay in the domestic sphere. This exploration of an often overlooked community is accompanied by narration from artist and composer Laurie Anderson. Further audio commentary is provided by Holly Herndon, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon to name a few.

The story is about rebellion and freedom through technology and music, celebrating those rule-breakers who, despite discrimination, made great strides in the genre and helped to establish electronic music as a legitimate art form.

As one of the film’s subjects, Laurie Spiegel explains: “We women were especially drawn to electronic music when the possibility of a woman composing was in itself controversial. Electronics let us make music that could be heard by others without having to be taken seriously by the male-dominated establishment.”
