The run of shows brings some of the biggest names in music to south Manchester, with headline performances from The Cure, Lewis Capaldi, Pulp and The Prodigy, alongside Courteeners’ own homecoming gig on Saturday the 29th of August. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has confirmed that tram passengers will hear frontman, Fray’s, voice on every concert date with a distinct set of announcements reserved for the official Courteeners show itself.
Metrolink is running as many double trams as possible, with services departing the city centre roughly every seven and a half minutes throughout the concert period. Concert-goers are being encouraged to travel via the Airport line and get off at Moor Road, which is around a ten-minute walk from the Wythenshawe Park entrance.
Those who are looking to combine different modes of transport, TfGM is offering an event travel pass priced at £8 per day.
The pass covers travel on Bee Network buses, trams and shuttle buses running between Manchester city centre, East Didsbury and the venue. These tickets, and transport reservations can be purchased in advance through the Bee Network app. Many regular bus routes also serve the area near the park, including the 41, 103, 370 and 371 along Palatine Road, and the 11, 248 and 249 on Altrincham Road, though passengers are advised to check for diversions on event days due to expected overload of excited concert goers.
The park and ride sites are available nearby, including a large facility at Sale Water Park offering a direct tram link to Moor Road, ensuring the concert attendees have access despite not driving themselves.
Enlisting local musicians to voice tram announcements has become a tradition on the Metrolink network around major events in the north. In past years, Liam Gallagher has recorded announcements for Oasis’s homecoming shows at Heaton Park in 2025, while past editions of BBC Music Day have featured contributions from Shaun Ryder, Ozzy Osbourne and Alfie Boe, among other talented musicians and artists.
With Wythenshawe Park set to host one of the liveliest stretches of live music Manchester has seen this summer, Fray’s involvement adds an intimate local touch to what is already becoming a landmark run of shows for the city of Manchester. The promotional value and advertisement works to a professional and creative extent, which fans love to see when it comes to seeing their favourite band.
