After countless demand for a tour from rock band, Primal Scream, fans have got what they wished for with Monday’s announcement of a UK tour taking place in September, 2026. The Scottish alternative-indie band are set to perform across key cities including London, Manchester and their hometown, Glasgow, with the main event being the celebration of their iconic, seminal album ‘XTRMNTR’ from 2000.
The news has already delighted fans who were demanding for an album and tour revival, with tickets and presales expected to be sold quickly, along with several sold out venues. The announcement of the tour comes after a huge surge of requests after the 2025 performance of the album, celebrating their 25th anniversary at the London Roundhouse.

The revival of an album that defines the band, draws heavily on nostalgia which is driving fans to concerts to reminisce memories of artists and bands. This is seen in memorable culturally significant moments for music and genre, such as Primal Scream’s success in genre mixing. In turn, revival concerts are increasingly performing strongly in the UK.
The album ‘XTRMNR’ represents the band’s genre, sound and tone, with heavy influence from the surge of electronic sound in the 80’s, such as bands like Depeche Mode and New Order. The experimental tone blended with passionate rock relates audiences back to a time when music was defying genre and audience expectation, even twenty years later.
Primal Scream’s 2000’s based throwback tour can expect a setlist that leans heavily into the band’s loved sound. With songs from ‘XTRMNTR‘, such as ‘Accelerator’, ‘Swastika Eyes’ and ‘Pills’ expected from fans of the album.
The band’s mix of electronic, rock and indie sounds are what brought them to the surface 0f the music world in 1982, forming in Glasgow before debuting live performances until 1984. They then started to gain mainstream attention when their mix of genres gave them their psychedelic garage sound that fans still love today.
The tour’s announcement comes at a time where the prevalence of revival and nostalgia are at an all time request. This week saw Madonna announce her comeback to the music industry after seven years, with the ‘Queen Of Pop’ set to release a new album in July. With the rapidly evolving industry, fans going to see their favourite artists from the past reflects a new trend in immersive and connecting concert experiences.
