NME reports that the singer, who finished fifth on the reality TV show, had signed a short term deal with head judge Simon Cowell’s Syco label andquickly dropped The Honey G Show on December 23, in a bit to chart in the competition for the Christmas Number 1.

Now, the Radio Times shows that Honey G’s track failed to make its mark on even the top 100 singles, falling way short at number 149.

The track’s poor performance follows an odd performance on  “Good Morning Britain” during which the singer/rapper appeared to forget the lyrics to Missy Elliot’s “Get Ur Freak On.”

Before her remarkably late exit from the X-Factor, Honey G had proved to be the main talking point of the series, causing controversy every week, with some perceiving her act to be a parody of hip-hop and black culture. In an article for The Guardian, Lola Okolosie described the contestant as “Modern-day blackface.”

Honey G recently spoke to Digital Spy to confirm that she has no long term deal in place with Cowell or his record label. “What I want to do is negotiate a deal,” she said. “We want to make it happen. I don’t think there is a specific timescale – I think they are allowed to make two singles with me, and then if they make a third, they have to make an album.”
