British-Bengali artist Tara Lily has just released a new collaboration with King Krule, titled ‘Tropical Storm’. The track serves as the lead single from her upcoming EP ‘Quiet Nights’ (Early Takes), due out November 7 via Tru Thoughts. The collaboration brings together two of London’s most unique voices, both known for their moody, emotional styles and jazz-inspired sounds.
Tara Lily described the song as “a lucid dream playing in our minds again and again,” and it sounds that way. The atmosphere is dark but peaceful. Krule’s presence is subtle but his parts add a touch of chaos and mystery, while Lily’s voice keeps everything grounded. Together, they create something that feels both intimate and unpredictable.
The project follows her 2024 debut album ‘Speak in the Dark’, and it shows a softer, more personal side of her music. Tara says the songs come from “a quiet and beautiful period of time” when she wanted to strip back her sound and focus on what felt raw and real.
For King Krule, this collaboration fits naturally with where his music has been heading. After his 2023 album ‘Space Heavy’ and his 2024 EP ‘Shhhhhhh!’, he’s been experimenting with more delicate, introspective sounds. His work often deals with love and city life, which matches Lily’s moody, cinematic style perfectly.
To celebrate the release of her new EP, Tara Lily is heading out on a UK and European tour this November. The run begins in Britain, with shows in cities such as Bristol, Brighton, Manchester, and Edinburgh, before she performs at the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall in London on November 18 – one of her most prestigious shows yet. After the UK leg, she’ll continue into Europe with performances in Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Paris, Berlin, and Frankfurt.
The tour is expected to have an intimate, atmospheric feel, matching the tone of her new music. Rather than big stage setups, fans can expect soft lighting and emotional storytelling through music. Each performance will likely blend her earlier songs from ‘Speak in the Dark’ with new tracks from ‘Quiet Nights (Early Takes)’, showing how her sound has evolved.
