Paul Gallagher, aged 59 and the older brother of Oasis members Noel and Liam Gallagher, has been officially charged by the Metropolitan Police with a series of offences. These include rape, sexual assault, coercive and controlling behaviour, intentional strangulation, threats to kill, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The alleged offences are reported to have occurred between 2022 and 2024. Police investigations began in 2024, and the Crown Prosecution Service have since granted authority to proceed with the charges.
Gallagher, who lives in East Finchley in north London, in a flat reportedly purchased by Noel Gallagher in 2004, is the only Gallagher brother not involved with Oasis. Instead, he has pursued careers as a DJ, photographer, and wrote a memoir in 1997 detailing his childhood and his brothers’ rise in music.
Legal representatives for Paul Gallagher have stated he strongly denies all allegations against him, emphasising cooperation throughout the investigation and his intention to contest the charges. According to The Guardian, he has yet to enter a plea.
The alleged victim, a woman whose identity has not been disclosed, is being provided with specialist support from trained officers.
These charges emerge as Oasis continue their highly publicised Oasis ‘Live ’25′ reunion tour, marking their first UK performances together since 2009. The tour, has spanned several major UK cities including Cardiff, Manchester, London, and upcoming dates in Edinburgh, Dublin, as well as international venues.
Neither Noel nor Liam Gallagher have issued direct statements regarding their brother’s legal situation. There is no indication that Paul has any involvement in the band’s affairs or their ongoing reunion tour.
Paul stated, “I speak to the pair of them. I see Liam every other day… I do my own thing, I stay away from it as much as humanely possible.” on handling his brothers’ fame. His bond with Liam is reportedly stronger than that with Noel; they communicate regularly and Paul was named Liam’s best man for his wedding to Debbie Gwyther.
Paul Gallagher is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court on 27 August 2025.
