Oasis has announced a deluxe edition of ‘What’s The Story (Morning Glory)’ to celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary, which includes a new unplugged version of ‘Acquiesce’.
With the announcement coming just days before the bands massive reunion tour kicks off in Cardiff this Friday (July 4), the excitement and anticipation around the Britpop legends continues to grow.
The deluxe version of the iconic album will be released on October 3, one day after the original hit the shelves three decades ago. It is available to pre-order now from here.
There will be various editions available to purchase, which will include different coloured vinyls and new artwork shot by the original sleeve designer, Brian Cannon.
The album will feature five new unplugged versions of classic Oasis tracks, all mixed by Noel Gallagher and his engineer Callum Marinho. These new acoustic tracks will include ‘Wonderwall’, ‘Morning Glory’, ‘Champagne Supernova’, ‘Cast No Shadow’, and the aforementioned ‘Acquiesce’.
‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory’ was released 14 months after the Mancunian bands first album, ‘Definitely Maybe’, which became the fastest-selling debut LP in British music history at the time. The follow-up went on to send Oasis to even bigger heights, selling a staggering 345,000 copies in its first week and spending 10 weeks at Number One.
That success in the mid-90s has led us to this point… where the Gallaghers are gearing up for a massive sold-out world tour, with this Friday’s gig in Cardiff marking the bands first live performance since 2009.
Over the last month or so, the excitement has grown as the first leg of the tour gets closer and closer. Firstly, an alleged leaked recording of Liam joining the bands rehearsals went viral, and more recently the band has teamed up with Adidas to launch merch ahead of the reunion.
Fans have been clamouring to try and get their hands on this new merch, which has led to the opening of pop-up shops around the country.
In a press release, the band announced the ‘Oasis Live ’25 pop-up shops’, saying: “With less than a month until the first Oasis Live ’25 gigs, we’re launching Oasis Live ’25 pop-up shops in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Dublin and Birmingham where you can get your exclusive merchandise and vinyl as well.”
