British rock band Muse have returned with their new single ‘Unravelling’.
The Grammy Award-winning group from Devon have racked up 7 consecutive number 1 albums since their formation in the ’90s, including their most recent release ‘Will Of The People’ back in 2022. ‘Unravelling’ is their first single in three years, with the track debuting 12 June at an intimate gig at House of Culture in Helsinki, Finland, before their headline set at Rockfest, at the start of their European tour.
The new track was released via Warner, produced by multiple Grammy nominee Dan Lancaster, who’s collaborated with names such as Blink-182 and Bring Me The Horizon, and also performs with Muse in their live shows, playing keyboard and guitar.
The song along with its lyrics video was officially released yesterday, 20 June. It’s a dark, intense track that combines Muse’s usual theatrical style with a heavier, more modern metal edge, sitting at an intersection between genres such as metal, progressive rock, and electronica. Its lyrics are moody and cryptic: “Feeling the glow die inside of our bones/This is a hymn for our love with no God and no throne/Your eyes go cold at sunrise as we disembark/You left me in the dark.”
In February, in an interview with NME, Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme discussed the future of the band and a potential new album. He said: “I think we’re going to start work on the next record fairly soon […] I think for the last few albums we’ve been with Warner and we’ve extended after each album. We may do the same again; we may go with a new label, who knows?”
He adds: “I would imagine that 2026 will be a new album, barring any disasters.”
