Liverpool musician Luvcat is inviting fans into her gothic fantasy with the announcement of her debut album ‘Vicious Delicious’ out on 31 October.
With the announcement, the singer shared the lead single, a seductively spooky jazz-inspired title track along with a music video. Filmed at “the most haunted hotel in the UK”, Luvcat shared that the inspirations behind the choreography in the video were found in iconic ballroom moments from Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers, the Moulin Rouge and Helena by My Chem.
These influences are no surprise, with the artist naming herself after The Cure’s, hit song from 1983. Luvcat’s macabre fascinations drive the album with viral tracks from the record such as ‘Dinner @ Brasserie Zédel’ encompassing the tale of a date with the devil in a booming cabaret-style expression of obsession. The manic infatuation continues into her most-listened-to song on Spotify ‘He’s My Man’, in which this leads to the narrator killing their lover. The artist has had a rapid rise to fame, performing her first LA show this year, which went viral for its location at a chilling cemetery.

On ‘Vicious Delicious’, Luvcat told Dork Magazine, “It’s about the pendulum between good and bad behaviour; it’s about everything that’s viciously delicious and deliciously vicious.” She added, “I spent so long getting the visual aspects right, too, because I find that world so fascinating, and it’s a way of showing people what the inside of my head looks like. We always use red and green, that Lynchian style; it’s like my wonky way of bringing the West End to a music venue; I’m trying to create a world that people can get lost in.”
Despite the surreal landscape Luvcat says that each track comes “from a sincere place of who I am and the places I’ve been.” This is especially pertinent in the first song she released from the album ‘Matador’ where her haunting vocals bleed heartache and exhaustion. Many fans are adding it to subreddits for toxic relationships in shows such as The Vampire Diaries.
Music for when you’re convincing yourself that the relationship is ultimately toxic and you shouldn’t keep fighting for it?
