Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi is said to return to this year’s Glastonbury festival in a secret set two years after his on-stage breakdown.
Lewis Capaldi is a musician best known for his sense of humour and his chart-topping single ‘Someone You Loved’, which reached number 1 in the US Billboard Hot 100 list in 2019. 2023 was the last time Lewis Capaldi performed at Glastonbury, but his mental health had hindered his ability to complete his set. Capaldi suffers with Tourette syndrome, a condition which involves sudden and uncontrollable movements or vocal sounds, called tics.
The audience chimed in to help Capaldi finish his performance, resulting in one of the most iconic and touching moments from the festival that year.

After the show, Capaldi announced a hiatus, saying: ‘Glastonbury, I’m really sorry. I’m a bit annoyed with myself’.
He shared on his social media platforms: “The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.
I’m still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s and it became obvious that I need to spend more time getting my mental and physical health in order.”

Since then, Capaldi has mostly stayed out of the public eye, save for a surprise appearance at London’s WWE Smackdown in March, and a quiet gig for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) in May.
The secret set in Glastonbury has been a feature of the festival since the 1990s, in which an artist who isn’t listed on the official bill makes a surprise appearance. Now, according to a new report from the Daily Mail, Capaldi is set to occupy one of the secret slots in the festival’s line-up. They believe Capaldi will take to the stage on Friday 27 June, just after Alanis Morissette on the Pyramid Stage.
Although Capaldi has taken a step back from the limelight for a few years, he is still releasing music. His newest EP ‘All The Rest’ was released last month on 16 May, and his newest album is scheduled for release sometime this year.
