Metalcore legends Killswitch Engage have just announced a giant UK and European tour, kicking off in autumn later this year. It will be a long-awaited return for fans of the band, who last performed in the UK in 2019.

They’ve also confirmed a support bill of exciting acts: for their UK and Irish dates, Engage, Hatebreed, Fit For An Autopsy and Decapitated will be joining them. For their EU dates, they will be supported by Fit For An Autopsy, Decapitated, and Employed To Serve.

In a press release, frontman Jesse Leach gave the opening acts his stamp of approval, and expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming tour: “I am very eager to get to share the stage with top tier bands like Decapitated, Hatebreed, Fit For An Autopsy, and Employed To Serve! This is a monster of a line up and an opportunity to play some of these new songs as well as a solid mix from our catalogue! Headlining over in Europe and the UK is well overdue as it’s been about 6 years since we last were able to do this! I am certain this will be a tour that will absolutely turn heads and make for some great memories!”

The same press release gave a taster of what fans could expect from the shows, adding that the band will be “performing fan favourites and deep cuts from across their 25-year discography, as well as new songs from their widely praised, recently released album This Consequence.”

The Massachusetts metal group released their ninth studio album, ‘This Consequence’, in February earlier this year. The 10-track record saw the band develop their trashing, fast-paced, melodic brand of metalcore. Jesse gave some insight into the creation process for the album:

“Making this record lit a fire under my ass and made me rethink everything. It had to be next level. It had to be different enough for people to really recognize we’re putting forth an effort-or what’s the point of doing this? There was no repeating ourselves. It was very carefully planned out and passionately written. It sounds like Killswitch, yet there’s also a fresh spirit to it.”

Killswitch Engage first made their presence known in the world of metal in the 2000’s. Known for their heavy riffs combined with delicate melodies and reflective lyrics, the band gained high praise for their 2002 album ‘Alive Or Just Breathing’, which was named in the ‘Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the Decade’ by Decibel.

They’ve been nominated three times at the Grammys, received a platinum certification for their 2006 album, ‘As Daylight Dies’, and landed multiple Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200. Throughout their career, they’ve sold out countless headline tours and toured with a variety of rock acts, from Iron Maiden and Slayer to Slipknot and My Chemical Romance – a testament to their ability to cross over different genres in hard rock.

The first leg of the tour will begin at the end of September in Portugal. The first leg will stop by in Spain, Italy, Switzerland and France, before making its way over to the UK, with dates scheduled in England, Scotland and Ireland.
