Glastonbury kicked off today yet an electrical storm has caused a number of the outdoor stages, including the Pyramid Stage, to be brought to a halt.
On the Pyramid Stage, Rudimental’s set was cut short just after 5.3opm and festival-goers were informed by messages on the large screens beside the stage announced that a number of stages, including the main stage, were “powering down” due to the sheer volume of rain, hail, lightning and thunder.
Rudimental have since Tweeted “Thanks for an amazing experience #glasto unfortunately lightning struck the stage and we were forced to finish our set early”.

Normal service has since been resumed at the festival and everyone there will hope that the rest of Glastonbury goes off without any further hitches – the fact that Metallica’s plan has always been to arrive by air means that those who were hoping to catch the band will be keeping their fingers crossed.
