This comes at great joy for fans, who have rooted for a collaboration between the two vocal powerhouses for a long while. Both stars announced the wonderful news via posts on their respective social media accounts.
In a post to Instagram, Lipa shared a film-like photograph of herself and Cyrus, confirming in the caption that Prisoners will be “out at midnight”. Fans reacted joyously to the post, which has obtained a whopping 806,000 likes.
Cyrus followed suit, posting a succession of themed photographs, and one intriguing promotional clip featuring an explosion of maraschino cherries and graffiti. The post was celebrated by fans, receiving over 544,000 likes.
This hinting via social media is not an isolated incident from the stars, who have both been teasing a collaboration for months. In October, Cyrus said their upcoming single is “perfectly a blend of the both of us”, which only heightened fans’ wild excitement.
In May of this year, Lipa revealed that the pair had already planned to create a song together before the coronavirus pandemic. Sadly, the international lockdown restrictions prevented them from doing so. Fortunately, Prisoners is out in a few short hours!
