British actress and singer, Cynthia Erivo, hosted the 78th annual Tony Awards, recognizing excellence in plays and musicals in Broadway theatre. The Tony Awards were hosted at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Cynthia, best known from her recent role in ‘Wicked’, made her hosting debut at this year’s Tony Awards. She started the night with an incredibly stunning number, ‘Sometimes All You Need’, an original number written for this opening act. Cynthia was highly praised for her vocals, stage presence, costume changes, and comedic timing keeping the audience entertained. Just before arriving on stage, Cynthia met Oprah Winfrey as part of the opening act; Winfrey tells Erivo to “just be yourself” while they re-created the famous holding space meme with her ‘Wicked’ co-host, Ariana Grande. The Tonys are a place where the audience can come together for their love of theatre, needing comedy, dance, and striking performances.
Cynthia Erivo has gained significant fame across the globe for her role as Elphaba in last year’s film adaptation of ‘Wicked’, alongside co-star Ariana Grande. Wicked, released in November, was one of the top movies of 2024, nominated and winning many Academy Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, and SAG awards, including Best Actress for Erivo and Grande. The Wicked soundtrack debuted at the top two spot on Billboard. The sequel, ‘Wicked: For Good’, is set to release on November 21st, 2025. Watch the trailer for the upcoming sequel here.

The album consists of 20 tracks, including songs ‘Worst Of Me’, ‘She Said’, ‘Play The Woman’, ‘Best For Me’, and ‘Be Okay’.
