The indie folk trio of sisters have announced a month-long UK tour this Autumn. It will kick off in Swansea in September and finish in Bristol in October. The trio’s last release was “The Way Is Read”, an collaborative EP from 2017. “The Good Woman” is their fourth album after a six years break. Even though it was recorded during a time of loss and grief following the death of their mother, the album is far from mournful. They said in an interview: “When it came to naming the album, it seemed like this strongest statement of intent. Especially retrospectively having lost our mother and gained a niece. There’s a lot of female energy in our family.” The Staves previewed The Album with the singles “Trying“, “Satisfied” and the title track back in 2020 and showed that they in keeping with their established sound, but also presents very intimate and energetic statement.
Our new single #Trying is OUT NOW!
“I feel like trying is what we spend most of our lives doing really. Just trying our best. Trying to be better, to make things work. This was definitely written at a time where I was nearly tried out” https://t.co/ZuvX8U87V9 pic.twitter.com/pou404zMKL

The Album was released last month with the help of producer John Congleton and received great reviews. In an interview with NME Milly said: “We’d gone into hibernation for about a year after we lost our mum, and didn’t really know who we were or what we were doing anymore. He was the right person at the right time to swoop in like a little whirlwind or energy”. Then Jess added: “He gave us a lot of reassurance, too. We’d been self-producing everything up to that point, but we needed someone to come in and bring new energy. He’d warned us, saying he works really quickly, but that was exactly what we needed”.
