Having just in the last month announced that the reunited Twister Sister would not be performing with original vocalist Dee Snider due to his age and physical state, the reunited lineup have confirmed that ex-Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach will be taking his place for some shows.
In an Instagram post bearing both the band’s logo and Bach’s name, they confirmed that “Twisted Sister members Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda are thrilled to announce that iconic vocalist and frontman Sebastian Bach will be fronting the band for a handful of select dates this fall”.
Sister had announced their hotly anticipated reunion back in September, initially announced to be led by their iconic figurehead after a ten year break from touring. The reunion had been teased as far back as 2024, when the band discussed reuniting in aid of the Democratic campaign to defeat Donald Trump in the presidential election of that year, although plans did not materialise until last September. Snider has been in most previous incarnations of the band dating back to their initial formation in 1976, and has sang on each of their seven albums from 1982’s ‘Under the Blade’ until 2006’s Xmas release ‘A Twisted Christmas’. His presence has played a large part in their success with his signature exaggerated looks and dominating stage persona.
When announcing his retirement in February, the band declared that “a lifetime of legendarily aggressive performing has taken its toll on Dee Snider’s body and soul”, and that, “unbeknownst to the public (until now) Snider (70) suffers from degenerative arthritis and has had several surgeries over the years just to keep going, able to only perform a few songs at a time in pain.” The band did not completely deny the possibility of any future concerts, having said that the band’s future “will be determined in the next several weeks” at the time, with Snider confirming he would be comfortable with a replacement.
Fortunately, Bach’s presence is on hand. The ex-Skids singer has been busy with his solo outfit since the late 1990s, with the highly rated ‘Child Within the Man’ being released in 2024 and proving again that Bach is still a formidable presence in the metal world. Bach has never hid his appreciation of older metal bands like Mötley Crüe, Dio and Twisted Sister, frequently discussing them in interviews. This means that, on this tour, the band will consist of the aforementioned singer, longtime members Jay Jay French and Eddie “Fingers” Ojeda on guitars, drummer Joey Franco and bassist Russell Pzütto on bass.
The band’s flame shone bright but briefly at their height. Known for their stadium-charging anthems like ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’, ‘I Wanna Rock’ and the magestic ballad ‘The Price’ on their seminal 1984 album ‘Stay Hungry’, they disintegrated at the end of that decade and have reunited sporadically since. This was promising to be possibly their biggest experiment with reunification so far, and the first since the passing of drummer AJ Pero in 2015, but the band have announced a scaled down tour schedule in light of Bach’s recruitment.
